Very friendly and helpful staff - nothing was too much of a problem, excellent food and fabulous shower!!! Ideally placed for a wedding at Shilstone House. Plentiful towels with the surprising addition of a fluffy bathrobe which I love when I’m away from home. Very nice toiletries too. Easy to park using the public car park to the rear of the property. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to friends.

The bed was a standard double and most of us are used to at least a king size. Not overly keen on poly cotton bedding but this would not stop a return visit. The fluffy bathrobe made up for it!! If you’re a light sleeper then could be a bit noisy during the week as the pub is on a main road, but to be honest we just got used to it and we’re early risers in anyway. Noticeably quieter at the weekend.

Breakfast was delicious & cooked to order, good choice of food and americano was great. Our room was spacious & clean. The bathrobes & toiletries provided were very handy. We chose to have our evening meals at the hotel, as the menu choice was excellent. Both nights meals were superb & cooked by Chris (the owner & an amazing chef) he was very approachable & informative. He gave us some suggestions of different places to visit around the area. Easy to park as public car park behind & another a short walk away.

The road outside was a bit noisy for us, which is unavoidable & didn't spoil our stay, ear plugs provided by the hotel for the room we stayed in. Although we do live in the middle of nowhere so used to peace & quiet! Everything else was perfect.

At breakfast, Amanda was super helpful, friendly and attentive. Breakfast was tasty and sufficient. Meat was locally sourced. Scrambled eggs with smoked trout was superb. Both perfectly cooked by chef Chris, the owner. On one evening we enjoyed an evening meal - super food and perfectly cooked once again but would have expected potatoes to be included in the price. Shower room/ensuite was newly decorated. Location was central for places we wanted to visit.

Wish the bed had been a king rather than a double and had a comfy chair in the room.

Extremely friendly welcome with beautiful rooms, the owners have paid a lot of attention to detail including bathrobes. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and had an exceptional meal , the chef is very talented and knowledgeable using local ingredients, it was difficult to choose from such a lovely menu,would highly recommend. The breakfast was included and again couldn't fault it. The cured trout was delicious.Our daughter stayed the weekend before and recommended to us, we will definitely be back.

Food was excellent Rooms comfy clean and good

The 20.00 for taking the pet to clean the room after which totally understand and no mess was made by our dog. However one member of staff asked while we we were sat at the evening meal about paying which I said we will pay when we end of stay then at breakfast yet again while having just had breakfast We are totally understanding but felt it was over the top at how many times asked. Customer service is settle bills at end of stay We are responsible dog owners and respect the clean well kept place but not how many times and while sat at table.

The food is absolutely amazing. We had a delicious evening meal and an absolutely delicious cooked breakfast every morning. Chris is a great chef. I liked the staff/service too: friendly, helpful and genuine. they are also well set up for walkers and dog owners: there’s somewhere to leave your muddy boots and they gave us dog towels to clean dog.

These are rooms over a pub so they aren’t large. however they extremely clean and have beet modern bathrooms with great showers.

The location of the hotel was easy to find and the short and long stay car parks to the rear very useful. Breakfast was delicious, the service and staff were faultless. I really felt comfortable though travelling alone and the dinner in the restaurant that I paid extra for was totally delicious.

If I had one piece of feedback it was that the WiFi was disappointingly intermittent both in the room and in the restaurant area, although this was a small point but could be easily fixed?

Honestly, such a little gem in the middle of nowhere. Something you'd expect to pay a lot more for, staff have been absolutely lovely the whole way through and really welcoming. Hotel rooms are gorgeous and spacious with amazing ensuite, as well as powerful fans provided as the rooms have been heating up in the sunshine. Breakfast was great too, can't recommend this place enough!

Can't be helped but road outside is noisy and pipes are fairly loud. Staff have anticipated that by providing earphones though, which I thought was a lovely touch! Apart from that no complaints!

A lovely little place. Nice amenities in the room for a budget hotel. Breakfast was lovely.

The bed let the room down, very thin mattress and white/grey bedding and very flat pillows. A shame as everything else was nice. I personally like an ooen window and mine could not be opened.

Breakfast excellent (although would have preferred a whole slice of black-pudding instead of a thoughtful-but-not-generous half slice!) The location was good in one sense - central to the town/village. The only slight issue was parking, as there is no hotel carpark, and one has to use the public car park, which admittedly is not too far away.

When we got there (only slightly before our expected arrival time) the hotel was all locked up, and we had to phone. Then on at least rwo occasions, we could not get from our rooms to the restaurant / breakfast area, as a door was locked. Not a major problem I suppose and was soon remedied, but I was a bit surprised at this unnecessary inconvenience.
