All the food was very good, although I did say that the cod and chips I had on the first evening would have benefited from having some vegetables like peas (I was thinking of my five a day although at home it's usually about three); but I can't complain about what was served, although I wouldn't have wanted to pay any more. The room was nice and comfortable, but I would have preferred to watch the TV sat in a chair rather than on the bed; I don't know if there was room for a chair. I couldn't tune in the TV, but the staff were very helpful with putting this right.

There wasn't anything I didn't like about The Maltsters Arms; it was a bit out of the way and the roads to it were a bit daunting, but the place itself was in a great location.

Staff were really lovely across the board, from the guys at breakfast to the lovely lady cleaning the rooms. Really dog friendly which was great and a lovely location. The food was tasty and plenty of breakfast options for everybody. Very peaceful place to stay.

Our room was a bit quirky and no main window but that's just the layout of the building. Other rooms were much nicer though so that's not something that the whole place suffers from. Our bed was two mattresses together which wasn't an issue but one mattress was dipped and uncomfortable whereas the other side was great.

Great location, Quiet and interesting to watch the tide change. Staff were very attentive and food was good. Room was large and had a view over the river. Not sure how many rooms have view. We were able to launch a kayak and enjoyed traveling up and down the river which was great. lovely walks along river, through woods and over fields.

Location is off the beaten track which makes negotiating miles of single track roads quite stressful. You need to be good at reversing and squeezing through very tight gaps. It is not a luxury hotel or restaurant more of a traditional pub with bed and breakfast.

The location is fantastic, right on the river, beautiful views. The Manager and his wife were very friendly and quick to respond to any requests. The food was really good.

The decor in general is ‘tired’. In our room (The Black Horse) there were several large scuffs on the wallpaper. In the bathroom the paint is peeling off the bath panel and the shower screen seal needed replacing about 5 years ago, it’s now a dark yellow colour instead of clear plastic! There was black mould on the grouting in the shower. Outside the car park needed a wash and brush and the general look is a bit run down with some stonework missing and steps crumbling. Some of the younger staff seemed more interested in standing around chatting than helping out and the girl serving breakfast was somewhat over familiar calling guests ‘sweetheart’ and ‘love’. Ok for a greasy spoon cafe but not in a hotel!

Both dinner and breakfast were superb. Lovely fresh ingredients and really good food! Nothing was too much trouble either - particularly at breakfast, where we, as a family of four asked for things slightly different to the menu. Wonderful view over the river whilst eating which was also a treat. Really welcoming and kind staff team.

We stayed in the Floyd room and the Black horse room. Both were clean and tidy but could maybe do with a bit of an update - quite quirky though and again for the the Floyd bedroom a wonderful view across the river.

The position was marvellous. It do peaceful it lifts the spirits. My spacious room had a glorious view of the river. I arrived early intending to have lunch on the quay as the weather was wonderful. The room was ready. Ate an excellent lunch of Start Bay scallops (some of the best I have ever tasted) followed by Moules frites. In the evening I chose Brill. Delicious and perfectly cooked. The bed was comfortable and the location is so peaceful. The only sound is birdcall. Had a very good breakfast. Beautifully cooked with crispy bacon just as I like it.

The peaceful location.

Idyllic riverside location, absolute heaven. Stayed in The Black Horse room which is described as cozy, but in reality had a king size bed (albeit two singles pushed together) with a large bath. Stayed for one night on the Sunday, and enjoyed one of the best roast dinners I have ever tasted. The following morning's cooked breakfast (included in the price) was an added bonus. I had smoked kippers, but there are plenty of alternatives including a full English on offer. For the price we paid, I would say a stay at The Maltsters Arms represents exceptional value.

The pub is in a stunning location on Bow Creek, so peaceful and with beautiful views. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good and both evenings we ate here the food was excellent. A small touch, but very welcome, was proper size mugs in the room so we could sit with a decent size mug of tea enjoying the peace of the creek early mornings before breakfast.

Our room had a chaise and table in it, a second chair would have been nice so we could both sit somewhere other than on the bed.

Room was a good size and very clean. Extras such as tea ,coffee, shower gels and shampoos topped up daily if required. Fluffy white towels. Breakfast was lovely and the staff really pleasant and friendly.

The skylight blind was looking tired and very difficult for me to close, I had to get somebody to close it and it stayed closed for the week🙁. It really needs replacing with something more suitable.

Couldn’t fault the staff - all of them were exceptional. Room was enormous - very clean and smartly decorated. View over the river was nice. Food was good.

Noise from some kind of cooler / aircon unit over the kitchens kept my wife up all night. TV, although enormous, just didn’t work. Turned on but no signal of any kind. Did speak to someone at the bar about this at about 9pm, but nothing done about it. Would have been more tolerable if the wifi worked, but signal unusable in our room.
