We stayed in the King Suite (No. 10). An exceptional room; huge comfy bed, lovely bath in centre of room, with seemingly brand new en-suite. The hotel itself is classy and well kept. The living room and dining room are beautiful. Breakfast was excellent, although not included in room rate. Staff in the hotel are lovely. Location is perfect - very central.

The bar, which is separate to the hotel, is not classy in any way. The football was on and it was full of dogs. We were charged £9.50 for a G&T and a pint of lime and soda. The G&T looked like it had been served in Wetherspoons. Garbage. We didn’t stay long as we thought it was a bit rough around the edges. It’s very different to the hotel which is a shame. We ate at The Yan down the road which was beautiful. Our room had no door to the en-suite, so that may put some people off as you can’t really use the toilet with any privacy.

The room was lovely, a nice lounge and bathroom downstairs and the bedroom was upstairs. Very clean and a lovely welcome letter and treats for our dog. Parking was secure and was near the room. The lodge location is right in the middle of town near to many Cafè and restaurants. Plenty of lovely walks to do straight from the hotel, which we did. There was a shared hot tub for 3 of the rooms but it was a bit cold. Even when there was only us left we'd rather just chill at night with the dog in the lounge. The food at the bar restaurant is amazing and everyone is very welcoming and nice. Restaurants and breakfast place's nearby are wonderful as well. Can't wait to go back and we'll definitely stay at Tweedies again 5*+

The room was lovely, the location amazing and the staff were amazing and helpful. They even found and returned my bank card which my wife had dropped.

Breakfast is just lovely - an excellent selection of cold and hot dishes. On our second morning the chef made a little dish of scrambled eggs for my little girl even though she was free on the booking due to her age! The rooms we were in (2 rooms as there was an issue with our first room) were lovely - clean and well laid out. The bathrooms were a brilliant size and the products handy as I’d forgotten our showergel! We enjoyed sitting in the lounge room in the afternoon, by the fire! So cosy and welcoming. We are at Tweedies both nights - first night - New Years Eve in the main hotel lodge. They’d hired a juke box for music and decorated the tables it was perfect! The second night we were in the main bar and restaurant. The Gammon sharing platter was unbelievably tasty - I don’t think I’ve had gammon THAT good before - it melted in the mouth. The bar is a great place to visit after a long day out walking - the beer selection is excellent! We really couldn’t have asked for a better break away for new years! Welcoming, cosy, good value for money and a beautiful setting. Thank you so much for looking after us - we can’t wait to come back!

Nothing! It was all perfect! If you’re thinking of booking - DO IT!!

Good location Able to wheel in baby pushchair and park it under the stairs easily (mews 3) Comfortable bed Very well cleaned (I requested it be extra clean due to bringing baby - read other reviews about wet dog smell). This was done to a very high standard (thank you) Breakfast was fantastic! Staff were mostly helpful

Assigned parking space does not accommodate a bigger estate car (blocks other spaces) - and the kitchen staff complained as they get deliveries through the gate there. Therefore the assigned mews parking spaces are not useable. The hot tub should be a chargeable optional extra. We felt we were paying for something we had no interest in using (it was on constantly!)

The staff make this place. So friendly and welcoming. The Mews suite is perfect for a little extra space and a place for relaxing after a big day in the surrounding fells.. which are spectacular! There is a very comfortable lounge to hang out in, in the hotel. The pub attached has such a great atmosphere.. and plays sport, winner! Breakfast is spot on. Something for everyone and food in the pub is the right kind of food you want after a mountain day.. beers too! This was our second visit and we will be returning. Thanks team!

The only thing I personally would nit pick was the door to the suite we stayed in looked tired and could do with a update, the wood is starting to rot and the door sticks.

Lovely location, grounds and old building. Great breakfast choices and everything is cooked fresh to order aside from continental buffet which also had plenty of choice. Hotel is cosy and has a lounge area and other areas to relax in. Reception lady on arrival was absolutely lovely - made us feel welcome and is a very warm and approachable lady who sorted out a small issue either our rooms very quickly. Some bedrooms are of a decent size and have everything you might need including refreshments and luxury toiletries which smelt beautiful.

Bar being separate and not accessible from hotel is slightly strange and not great when weather is poor. For the cost, there are some lovely bedrooms and then other rooms need to be modernised to the same standard to justify the cost, as whilst it’s not terribly expensive, it is on the slightly higher side. The storage in rooms is not consistent - we had 3 rooms, 2 of which had a reasonable size wardrobe and 1 which had a hanging area not suitable for stays over 1/2 nights really and no space to keep any luggage. This needs to specified better or price differentiation between size of rooms. Some female staff seem a little abrupt, we found this to be the case at breakfast on a couple of the days and they seemed not that welcoming.

The location of this stylish, historical hotel was excellent, providing us perfect opportunity to walk around grasmere and enjoy the local sights and wares. The rooms were upgraded on our arrival and were extremely well presented. Our evening meal was delightful and the atmosphere in the attached bar was jovial and welcoming. Breakfast was served promptly the next morning, and there was a good selection of both continental and hot options.

Our bed was a little hard for our taste and unfortunately we were kept awake into the early hours by movement and talking near our room.

The property is absolutely gorgeous, they have a great court yard for easy parking right next to the reception door. The lodge smells amazing as soon as you walk in & very clean and homey. I was directed to my room and it was perfect. Lots of hot drink supplies, the products for showering were high quality and the room was set to a great standard

Not necessarily the lodge but the connecting restaurant could have more food options, nothing I didn’t like about the lodge

We had 2 rooms , 1 was inside the main building and was the disabled access room and this was a lovely room , well furnished and space thought out for anyone with mobility issues . The 2nd room was a mews room outside which we had the sofa bed set up in as well for a child , this room was immaculately clean but was showing signs of wear and tear , the master bed creaked every time you moved and the bathroom needed updating . overall we loved staying here as the staff were so friendly and helpful and for all the mews needed updating it was clean and cosy. breakfast was also excellent and we ate in the bar one night which was also very good .

some updating needed in the mews room , perhaps due to this it didn’t quite feel good as good value for money . if both rooms had been of the standard as the internal one then I feel it woukd have been value

Location, the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful in reception, at breakfast and in Tweedies Bar. We had an amazing New Year 4 days break. It lived up to my expectations with a comfy large bed, spacious homely room, great food, live music, dancing, fireworks and meeting lots of new friends. Good choice of good quality breakfast options. Very dog friendly although we didn’t have a dog I didn’t have an issue with it.
