The bed and pillows were super comfortable with lovely clean white bedding. The shower was a lovely refreshing power shower. The bedroom and bathroom were really clean. Large TV in room. Location was on the Keswick High Street, surrounded by bars, restaurants and shops.
At night having to go round the back to put a code in to get into the building. I was with friends, so it was fine, but if I had been on my own I would have been worried doing that in the dark. Also my friends were not given the code, if they had not been with me they would have been unable to get in. If I had lost the code I would have been locked out all night on a freezing cold night. There was no staff on duty when we got back, no idea what to do in an emergency or locked out.

Location is great for the town centre. The breakfasts were great, hot and plentiful. The landlady and landlord were very pleasant and accommodating. The bedroom was cosy and bathroom had a good shower. We had a couple of evening meals. Good choice on menu. A positive stay here.
Car park behind the hotel is very limited to about 5 cars. If you use your motor during the day you may not have a parking spot to return to then you are âhunting for a car parkâ with additional costs. We left car in situ and travelled on local bus to locations. Recommend the 555 bus route from Booths supermarket. Itâs goes to Kendal via all tourist spots like Grasmere, Windermere etc. OAP with pass -free ,others ÂŁ2 flat fare- Well, well worth it!!!! I thought that cost per night could have included a breakfast. Itâs was an extra ÂŁ10 per person for breakfast.

This hotel is in a great location for a visit to Keswick If you are experiencing the Ritz, you will be disappointed! However, the hotel has character, is spotlessly clean, and the staff canât do enough for you. We also ate here and the food was lovely and really good value for money. The hotel is also dog friendly which is why we chose it. Will definitely come back
The rooms are in the process of being updated as they are a little tired but very clean and although we were only there for 2 nights, we had fresh towels each day and room tidied.

Location for George Hotel is absolutely superb. Central to Keswick and spoiled for choice with bars and restaurants etc. We researched this location well before booking, so we knew parking was limited so booked in 2 nights parking at the Central Car Park using Cumberland council MiPark app. Friendly welcome upon arrival, we were shown to our room, room 10 with a mountain view. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Bed was lovely and clean, very comfortable too. The decor is slightly dated but facilities served their purpose. Food was decent as was breakfast over the 2 nights we were there. Cleanliness was ok. Shower was lovely and hot. Overall, stay was pleasant and the bar and restaurant areas had an authentic rustic warm-welcoming feel. The George at the time of writing is in a period of transition. I believe good reviews will help good custom, reviewers leaving negative reviews should be face to face discussions and not for the likes of leaving on here. The staff were absolutely spot on and helpful. Definitely would stay here again.
Nothing, all good.

A great little hotel, excellent location for exploring Keswick and the southern lakes. The owner is very friendly and welcoming, the hotel is located in the very heart of the town, and a short walk from the towns long stay car park. We had a twin room, it was spotlessly clean, the hotel is very old and comes with the charm expected from an old property. We were able to drop our bags before heading out for a days hiking, the beds are comfortable and the hotel is great value for money, will definitely be returning thank you âșïž

We got off to a bad start as when I arrived, I was told that no bookings should have been made. But, this was sorted when the chap on reception phoned the owner, and I was given an upgraded room. Lovely space, could have been a wee bit cleaner, but on the whole was OK, the view out of the bathroom window was a bit horrible, a wall that really needed a paint. But a good nights sleep and a very central location.
The staff could have been a bit more helpful on my arrival. But this was made up for afterwards

This is our 2 time at the George. The location is spot on, the staff are really attentive, the food really nice with generous portions( The Cow Pie was tremendous) Merlot wine was fantastic. The Bar was cosy, spacious restaurant. The Bufe laid on for residents on Christmas Day evening was a great touch. We stayed in room 5 which was above the bar and being Christmas it was noisy which is to be expected. The room itself was clean, bed comfy and had what we needed during our stay, unfortunately some of the residents children were very inconsiderate messing around outside on the landing which made a great deal of noise and vibration transfer into our room, resulting in an exchange of words from myself, maybe some polite notices to keep the noise down displayed on the landing would be of benefit, regardless we will definitely stay again đ„§đ·
The bathroom sink Cold water tap was vague in operation

Lovely friendly staff, made us so welcome from the moment we arrived, sat with the owner for a drink, then had a lovely lunch, later we had an evening meal which was delicious, it was a last min booking as weather had turned while camping, so glad to find this gem,we got a parking space at rear, very handy as we had a canoe on the car, there was nothing too much trouble for Annette, Wes and staff, our pup was made to feel just as welcome, will definitely visit again đ location couldn't be better for a walk around the town.

It was a great central location and the staff were so accommodating, even managing to squeeze us on a table for dinner despite it being a busy Saturday evening and not making a booking. The bed was so comfy and huge, my friend and I wouldn't have even known each other were there. Parking is not promised but we did manage to get a spot behind the pub, if not lots of local car parks and street parking a short walk away. Nothing we didn't like the rooms were huge, and our bathroom in particular was almost as big as the room itself. This was great with a dog who sleeps in a crate which usually takes up the whole room.
If you are after a luxury hotel bare in mind the pub is old and the rooms are dated but this is part of the charm. They are clean but not modern could be due a re-fresh (modernise the bathrooms) but the beds are new and the room is clean, very good value for money.

* The place is very clean and looks nice. * All staff was very kind at all times. * They have a restaurant on the ground floor, which can be convenient. * The room is spacious, and has all you need: comfy bed, comfy pillows, kettle, cups, coffee, tea, enough drawers, a hair dryer, two small sofas (more like chairs), spacious bathroom, clean towels. * The stairs are normal stairs, in which you can place your whole feet on the steps! And it's not super steep. Just regular stairs. We were surprised of the high quality of everything given. We loved it there, we would stay there again, and we recommend it!
We were on room 13, and it's on the topmost floor. Is not that we don't like that, I'm just trying to convey that if you have knee problems, for example, or other mobility issues, it would be convenient if you contacted them and ask them to give you one of the rooms on the first floor instead. One recommendation for the hotel would be to put a sign on the door that's on the hallway on the topmost floor that leads to rooms 12 and 13. We were very confused for several minutes because we couldn't find our room, and that door only has a sign that says emergency fire exit, so it doesn't look like there are more rooms on the other side, it looks like an exit. Maybe if you put a sign there that indicates you have to go through it to get to your room, that would be very helpful I think!
