An old hotel with a special atmosphere, situated in its own large garden (with rabbits nibbling on the grass...), It was quiet as it is on the town outskirts, but 5 min walk to Keswick center. Access to walking paths direct from the hotel. Parking available on site. We had a nice and relatively large room with a view to the bunnies....The staff was very nice.

Lovely lounge and dining areas. Bedroom and bathroom very spacious.Lovely and warm. Lovely linen and towels and very clean. Enjoyed the food apart from a couple of mistakes.

For us the beds are a problem as they are too soft and bouncy. Need firmer mattresses to support our backs properly. Uncomfortable. This is quite major as sleep is important. We’ve stayed 3 times but the soft beds may be a deal breaker for another time. No price list in bar. Was told they did not have one which is odd.

Breakfast was a good standard cooked buffet with option of cereals and fruit salad etc. Hotel setting is very very good, location is excellent, parking included is great as Keswick is a pain for parking. Really very nice staff. I would like to stay again.

No continental style option breakfast, no option to order a breakfast fresh. No tissues in rooms, or solid soap.

Fantastic location. Very welcoming property & staff. Everything was clean & tidy & the staff were very attentive with nothing being too much trouble. Very comfortable seating in the lounges & bar areas with plenty of it. Would like to say an extra thank you to Leon (aka, Marti Pellow) for making breakfast & dinner more enjoyable as we were able to have some good banter with him.

Would've preferred to have had either a walk in shower or some form of assistance rails/handles for the bath as we both had difficulties getting in/out of the bath in order to have a shower. Would've liked a better view of the mountains rather than some waste ground with the rubbish bins, especially for the price & as it was advertised as with mountain views

Location was excellent as was the food at both breakfast and evening meal. Choice and value of lunches was very good. Terrace area was lovely for sitting out in the garden. We travelled to Keswick by public transport and information supplied by the hotel was accurate. The bus stop was only a short, easy walk from the hotel.

Tea and coffee were available in the room but I was disappointed that water was not included in that. It was however, available to purchase in the bar. Also I couldn't find temperature controls in the room which meant that at times we were too hot and unable to adjust the temperature ourselves

The breakfast was very good and staff were efficient and friendly. Views from the room were majestic. Cleanliness was very good. The reception rooms on the ground floor were very spacious and comfortable. The hotel reflects its Victorian heritage.

The bathroom was rather small. The bath itself was not full length and the shower, although good for temperature control, was more basic than one would expect in a room this price. We only had one evening meal which was a set price menu at £45 per person and did not represent particularly good value for money.

The restaurant has a traditional feel, the food is interesting and the quality very good. The bar area has been modernised in lively colours with attractive funky furniture - a nice place to relax with a pre-dinner drink - or sit outside by the lawn and watch the resident rabbits! The staff were all pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast is plentiful, buffet style and was replenished regularly. Location is great, a short and pleasant walk into the centre and the hotel car park is a real positive in Keswick.

The room and corridors are a little dated, but this didn't spoil our stay.

We had booked dinner each evening in advance. Food and dining experience were exceptional with a different menu of excellent quality food and wine each night served in a grand dining room. Glad we could look forward to our dinner each evening. We stayed in the main hotel building. Decor somewhat dated with a charm of its own and quite grand public rooms with high ceilings and big windows

There is no electronic room entry and only one key provided per room, however you just drop it off at reception and you or your companion ask for it at reception when you return. Breakfast offering includes fried food, cereals, toast and pastries served in the big dining room. In a hotel of that stature it would be nice to see something a bit more special like locally produced jam, honey, granola etc to replace some of the pre-packed items.

The hotel’s location was excellent. The bed comfy and we had a bath as well as a shower. The breakfast was food. The staff weee very friendly. I have several food intolerances and we ate in the restaurant during our stay. The staff were excellent. Prior to my arrival, they had looked at their set menu for the day, crossed out what I definitely could not have and made notes on how they could tailor for me the remaining dishes. They went though the tailored menu with me and I still had plenty of choice. I didn’t feel restricted. Every member of staff who we interacted with knew what I could have and we felt well looked after.

It was a little tired. Our room was definitely sloping - a feature of the older building I guess. The room we experienced could have done with a refresh but was ok.

Very clean room - bathroom great - excellent domestic staff. Reception staff very friendly and efficient. The breakfast and dinner quality were excellent - plenty of staff and good service.

On arrival, we were told that the restaurant only offered a 3 course table d'hote menu - fixed price (£45 / head) . We did not really want a full 3 course meal after long day travelling (which we discussed at the reception desk) but we eventually chose to dine here because we believed this was our only option. The following day we found that there was a completely separate bar menu with simpler choices available. On reflection, we felt the staff were told to promote the restaurant dining option as the restaurant was quite empty. The management should consider offering a 2 course menu option at £30 / head - we think this would be more attractive to other diners and having more diners would have definitely raised the ambiance of the restaurant.
