The house is in a great location, a quiet street close to the town centre. It is very clean, comfortable and well furnished. Breakfast was fabulous and lots of thoughtful touches such as cake in reception and a visitor’s fridge with water and milk. Kate and James are wonderful hosts, nothing was too much trouble and we got some great tips on where to go.

It’s a typical Victorian terrace house adapted for B&B which means small bathrooms. It was also pretty hot when we were there, there was a heat wave and it’s not ideal for that. This is however such a rare event in the Lake District that I don’t think it’s an issue.

It was very quiet, and we were not disturbed by other quests. The owners were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The room was bright and comfortable, with good facilites for tea/coffee/drinking chocolate. Complimentary cakes baked by the owners were available, a different cake every day - they were delicious, and this was a very kind and generous gesture! :-)

Unfortunately breakfast was not available during the period of our stay, but we were made aware of this prior to my booking, so this is not in any way a criticism! :-) The bed was very hard though - too hard for us, though I appreciate that everyone has different tastes and that others might not feel the same way.

Super friendly, welcoming and helpful hosts who chatted with us, gave us recommendations, helped with bus and boat timings etc and even information on transport for our departure. Great location, very quiet and peaceful despite being also a very short walk to town. Beautiful room with an insanely comfy bed, high standards of cleanliness and generally many thoughtful touches that you don’t always get in your accommodations when traveling. Many breakfast options and very filling, which is especially important when you’re about to go out for a day of physical activities. Tasted nice as well (especially the omelette, croissant, granola). We had a great time and would come back again if we were visiting this area again in future. Thank you so much James and Kate!

Nothing much that we could think of.

We had a fantastic time at the Clarence House. A A Victorian residence with modern amenities, close to the centre of the town . The breakfast was excellent with several cooked options to choose from. Everyday, wonderful home baked cakes were kept for us on the way to our rooms when we returned in the evening. We loved this surprise! A very welcoming gesture! There is also a small cosy lounge in the attic. I would highly recommend staying here when visiting Keswick. Thank you James & Kate for a warm, relaxing and a lovely stay!

We loved our stay at Clarence House. It's lovely three-story Victorian cottage, very clean, well kept, warm and comfortable. James and Kate were wonderful proprietors as well. Their advice about bus transportation, hiking trails, and the lovely little city of Keswick were really helpful. The location is an easy walk from Derwentwater lake and the many restaurants and shops of the city. And you're in the Lake District! John Ruskin was right about it being one of the loveliest places in the world. We will write a glowing review for you!

Our host, James - Knowledgeable (Keswick area, wider Lakes), welcoming and couldn't do more to make our stay as enjoyable as possible Our stay - Clean, well-stocked for toiletries and what have you, tea/coffee/hot chocolate, fresh water kept in fridge, access to fridge/drying room and cakes upon arrival back at the house, comfy mattress.. literally everything was perfect

The choice for breakfast was excellent and whatever we chose was cooked and served perfectly. Kate was a perfect host and very attentive to everyone's needs. For my wife and me this was for us the best B&B we have ever stayed in. If I could award 11out of ten for each item on you questionnaire I would do that

There was nothing that I didn't like about Clarence House, in fact Kate went out of he way to bake and give to the guests lovely cookies. I didnt like the fact that we had to leave so soon and if we ever travel to this part of England we will certainly search out Kate and James

I had read great reviews of Clarence house, and all my expectations were met! Kate and James are amazing hosts, friendly and helpful. Very clean rooms and great breakfast. As the twin room we hoped for was alreday booked, we originally had a double. However, were offered a family room when we arrived. This was much appreciated! The location was brilliant, easy to drive and park, very close to pubs and restaurants, and still very quiet. Keswick was an excellent place to stay, and staying at Clarence house made our stay that much more enjoyable.

What an excellent place to stay in Keswick! We were greeted warmly by Kate and instantly felt relaxed at Clarence House. Our room was very comfortable and immaculately clean and maintained. The breakfast was absolutely perfect. Such tasty local produce, a great choice and all delivered piping hot. Both James and Kate go above and beyond to cater for everyone and they greet every guest by name. Extra special touches of homemade cake, a fridge with fresh milk and water, along with a guest drying room and sitting room, make Clarence House a B and B we would return to in an instance. Many thanks for a fabulous weekend.

Nothing to dislike.

Excellent hosts, very good cooked breakfast, and clean rooms. I loved the special complimentary (surprise) baked treats that awaits the guests when we return to our rooms in the evening after our sightseeing trips during the day. The cosy lounge in the attic is a lovely place to relax, read a book, play board games… . I would highly recommend staying at the Clarence House.
