The Portmann is a no frills value for money establishment in Kilmarnock, within easy walking distance of the pedestrianised town centre. It’s essentially a pub with rooms, and check in was at the bar. My room was spacious enough certainly for 1 person, with two single beds. As far as as I can recall, when I booked it said the room came with a shared bathroom. However I was pleasantly surprised to find my room was en-suite. There was tea, coffee and biscuits on the bedside table. The bed was comfortable. Overall I was totally satisfied with the experience at the Portmann.

The only downside was the shower was a little unpredictable. You had to mess about a bit with it to stop it alternating between stone cold and scalding hot. I got it right eventually.

After a long day of travelling and upon our arrival, the Manager advised us that a DJ would be in-house that evening and if we had any problems we should let her know. But after an evening in the bar speaking to some lovely, local lads we didn't hear any of the music when our heads hit the pillows. It's worth noting that it didn't go unnoticed that all the staff coped very well during a very busy evening. The en-suite bathroom was huge. The morning staff were as pleasant as the evening team

The size of the bedroom space

The young lady who was cleaning the bar was very helpful. The bed was very comfortable. Chose this hotel for its location which was perfect. The towels and bedding were clean.

Everything about the room was tired.Had to ask for the ironing facilities and hairdryer. Then the iron didn't have a fuse in it.The room felt grubby. The pillows were tired and flat. The window frame was filthy at the top.The double glazing was all misted up.Just wasn't very clean along skirting boards, round taps,in corners .The tv was just propped up on a bedside cabinet(at the foot of the bed) with the wall bracket still attached. I'm all for using things forever but this room cried out make do .

My partner and I had an excellent night at the Portmann, we needed a night away from it all and it did not disappoint. We ended up staying two nights instead of the one planned because we felt so at home. The staff were attentative and friendly, the bed was super comfy and I cannot complain about the food, drink or service in any way. We can't wait to visit again!

The staff were really helpful.and friendly, especially the lady i spoke to every morning doing the cleaning. the bar was really nice, clean and well maintained, it seems very popular and I can imagine any function here would be really good. My daughter loved the beer garden park and the evening entertainment sounded brilliant.

The room we stayed in was in need of a few bits of maintenance and a redecorate. The beds were comfy and we had everything we needed, but the bath definitely needs re-grouting.and a chair back was broken. The bar was quite loud at night but this wasn't an issue for us as we were very tired and slept through it. I would still stay here again because the staff were so helpful and friendly.

Didn’t have breakfast Everyone was very helpful, carrying our suitcase,as it was the first football match of the season,& Kilmarnock won.It seemed as if all the supporters decided to celebrate at the Portmann!

Knowing where to put the key as we had to unlock the front door to get out,& then went back in with the key,so we couldn’t lock the front door for you when we left. There was no one around at 9.30 a.m.

Location very close to station.. and welcome after 8 hours of travel, warm reception when I got to the hotel. Staff were polite and helpful and although I never used the bar or food facilities a good atmosphere was felt each time I entered through this area, the room could do with updating a little bit but bed was comfortable and the provided tea and coffee was a nice touch. Thankyou Portmann staff.

As I only used it for a place to stay whilst visiting family I didn't find anything not to like... It served its purpose and manners were used by all staff members.

Friendly staff and patrons. Easy access to town centre and train station and Rugby Park. Food and bar service was excellent even on the busy nights.

Hotel WiFi wasn't strong enough to reach the room I was in. Shower head support was broken, this was mentioned to Hotel staff. The couple of negatives don't let that put you off staying there.

The location was an easy walk from the bus station. The room was bright and just the size I wanted, with a view out over the beer garden, toward the stadium across the rooftops. I was being charged for only what I needed. The bed was comfortable, the covers clean and warm. The food was just right, with a lot of choices. It was a lively place to stay, especially when footy games were on. The staff was personable and helpful.. A great neighborhood to walk in, near a beautiful park, and . . it's spring!

The internet was down when I was there.

Facilities were ok but staff was great and having bar/restaurant downstairs made it easy to get dinner after a long day. Left a pair of shoes there when I left and manager packed them up and shipped them to me. …an extra mile for customer service.

Busy street and parking was a little challenging.
