The place is ideal to take your pet with you. Very big gardens plenty of room o run around. We used the gardens and woods walkways that were very good for the dog. The accommodation was great for the price. It was clean and comfy and staff were very helpful and price was very good.
Short staffed. Bar staff were very abrupt with customers. Big que on Sat Night very little ice. something wrong with the machine people were complaining and bar man was very rude saying if i here another word from you (talking to one customer in front of everyone. ) you will not be served. I found this unacceptable for hotel. 6th to 8th May stay the room was very hot

I cannot fault his place, the building is amazing with so much fascinating history. The best way to describe this place is just to say “it is what it is” it’s a grand building but in the best way possible for the price of a room no one should be complaining. The staff are absolutely fantastic, Robert and Dominic are both very helpful and just great down to earth guys, had a great laugh with them. All the other staff were delightful, very welcoming and pleasant, always smiling but you can’t not spending a night there, my and my wife’s cheeks were killing us from laughing the whole night! You’ll easily get your 10,000 steps in trying to find your way about the place but there’s features in every room you can’t help but appreciate. We will be back! Thanks for a great night guys!

People pick a £40 night hotel and then complain because it's not the Ritz. This is an awesome hotel, with awesome grounds, fantastic staff and a great bar with a very attentitive waiter. Stayed in many top hotels. I'd rather pay £40 and stay here than hundreds for a lesser experience. See you soon

The room was clean & tidy. It had both a bath and a shower overhead ensuite. There was the option of a separate breakfast.
A nuisance was that there was NO free wi-fi. You could pay for it as an extra but it did NOT say how much that would be so I just used a bit of my mobile data allowance. But I would not use that for working there as I would be on a laptop all of the time & that woiuld cost a lot of money. Another nuisance was that t BBC TV channel failed in the morning although ITV / STV was working. Had that happened to ITV / STV the previosu evening, I may have missed the Rugby World Cup Final. There was a big TV screen in the Public bar which MIGHT have had the RWC on in that event - Just a point to be mindful of.

Robert on reception was amazing….. the grounds are beautiful and we paid just over £50 for the room and airport parking was included for 6 nights ! Which is what we would have been for parking alone ! Welll worth the money and it was clean…. Can say anything bad… don’t stay if you want 5* luxury but if you want clean and affordable then this is the place for you…. Pool table bar with bingo and karaoke also
It’s a massssssive building so hard to maintain and upkeep I imagine but there are so many nice features it does look old in need of upgrade In some places but that didn’t bother us.

Nice location and it is a reasonable price. It has its niche and caters well for bus tours. I arrived about 8.40am for breakfast and there was very little left. Service stops at 9am. I asked if there was anything coming out, there was haggis, potato scones and tomatoes left. The chef then promptly cooked more bacon eggs and sausages which was a really nice touch. I got to breakfast early the next day!! It is a good standard. I didn't eat my evening meal there but I didn't hear any complaints from other guests. Lovely grounds to sit out in and and a good bar and helpful staff. The rooms though clean need some modernisation but as it was less than £50 a night I have no complaints there. Singer on both nights ! There is huge potential but they cater well for there end of the market.
I paid £7 per day for the WiFi. I was annoyed that it covered only one device and any further devices would be another £7. Not something the hotel can control as it is an outside company. But beware.

Booked for an overnight with my mate for the bowls ,went to check in ended up speaking to the staff for 20/30 mins made us feel very welcome genuinely felt like we had known them for years, nice cosy rooms and comfy beds. they also provided us with a taxi into town and told us where was best to go which also didn’t disappoint. when we woke up the bar was closed as it was too early and we had no cash on us for the vending machine so we were gave two glasses of water and a can of cola each which was on the house from Robert he was some guy who deserves the best. 10/10 would highly recommend.

Great hotel, lovely clean rooms, nice food but the thing that made our stay so good was 100% the staff, all very welcoming but a special mention to Robert at Reception who greeted me and my partner, he made us feel so welcome, such a lovely guy and so kind, made our night and stay at the hotel amazing, and reading other comments he’s just an such a genuine nice guy to every customer and nothing is too much, Thanks again Robert, we’ll definitely be back.

Couldn’t have asked for more from Robert, we had come down early as myself and my pal were going through to Ayr for a festival. Our room wasn’t quite ready so Rob gave us somewhere to get ready and helped put us in touch with the local taxi service. Throughout the stay, Robert made sure we were all good and was more than happy to assist with anything. Cheers again for all your help pal, would 100% come back and hopefully see Rob again.

The hotel interior is spotlessly clean and my room was immaculate. The staff are very helpful, very friendly and welcoming. The food is hearty, cooked well and there is plenty for the biggest appetites being available as a eat-all-you-like buffet. The ensuite bathroom had bath, shower, sink and loo, mirror all spotlessly clean with shaver socket and hairdryer. Free hot beverage facilities in room. The bed was very comfortable and again, the sheets and towels all spotlessly clean. The older part of the building is very impressive with old architecture and carved oak panelling interior. The bar is very cosy and welcoming with great bar staff. Overall it is excellent value for money. It is not a luxury Hotel for which you would expect to pay a premium. It's set in beautiful countryside location and the gardens are massive so plenty of room for kids to run around and play. It's a good place to stay and rest if you are on a budget and working or visiting the area. It's a very beautiful area and the Hotel can be a good base.
The building exterior is a bit tatty, and due to ongoing works there were materials tucked away under stairs etc., but not in the way. The front doors, and also internal corridor doors are all heavy and bang shut.
