Despite reading pretty bad reviews online of the hotel we know that reviews can be misleading so we booked anyway. The hotel offered availability for the dates we required and excellent value for money in comparison to other properties nearby. We were pleasantly surprised, despite the hotel being slightly dated, everywhere was clean and tidy with our room being comfortable, bathroom clean and shower and bath both good with plenty of hot water and fresh towels of good size. Hairdryer supplied in room with tea/coffee making facilities. Staff friendly and helpful. We didnt eat or drink in the hotel as we had prior arrangements so cannot rate either of those. Location was perfectly suited to us and peaceful for a good nights sleep. We stayed 3 nights.

Very relaxed and although a budget hotel it has some very fine features - a beautiful old house and lovely grounds. Enjoyed the comeraderie and easy atmosphere. It was warm, clean and friendly. Loved the bar lounge where Elvis made a phone his call from when his flight stopped in Prestwick and his way back from serving in Germany a piece of Elvis history there - great to see the photo! Prices were very reasonable and they had entertainment in the evenings thrown in. Quirky - indeed - but enjoyable experience. We'll be back!

Well it was budget and I would like a bathmat in the bathrooms. Needs redecorated although it has a dated charm.

1 night stay with my son to watch the football. You get what you pay for at Britannia hotels. Room was decent size and clean. Furniture and decor is old but this gives it its character. Old building is lovely with a nice games room And bar. Free parking. Bathroom had a bath which is always good to have the option. Warm room. Bar and reception staff very nice.

Check on says 3 and we arrived at 3 and had to wait 35 minutes on the ok to be checked in. There was at least 5 others waiting Aswell. Don’t know why they can’t give you a clean room instead on waiting on every room in the hotel being done before they let guests in. Cleaning staff were walking around the corridors swearing and talking very loudly about how check in should be 4 or 5pm to give them more time to clean rooms. 10am check out. Would have preferred 11 like most hotels.

The place is ideal to take your pet with you. Very big gardens plenty of room o run around. We used the gardens and woods walkways that were very good for the dog. The accommodation was great for the price. It was clean and comfy and staff were very helpful and price was very good.

Short staffed. Bar staff were very abrupt with customers. Big que on Sat Night very little ice. something wrong with the machine people were complaining and bar man was very rude saying if i here another word from you (talking to one customer in front of everyone. ) you will not be served. I found this unacceptable for hotel. 6th to 8th May stay the room was very hot

I cannot fault his place, the building is amazing with so much fascinating history. The best way to describe this place is just to say “it is what it is” it’s a grand building but in the best way possible for the price of a room no one should be complaining. The staff are absolutely fantastic, Robert and Dominic are both very helpful and just great down to earth guys, had a great laugh with them. All the other staff were delightful, very welcoming and pleasant, always smiling but you can’t not spending a night there, my and my wife’s cheeks were killing us from laughing the whole night! You’ll easily get your 10,000 steps in trying to find your way about the place but there’s features in every room you can’t help but appreciate. We will be back! Thanks for a great night guys!

Ignore all the bad reviews - you will not find better value for money anywhere near Ayr. Yes it was basic, yes there were minor faults but the rooms were clean and roomy enough. Most places you don't get what you pay for but here you do, yes it's budget, yes it may be a little old and dated but the staff are all very pleasant and the rooms are clean and tidy - unless you're looking for luxury and if you just want a decent bed for the night then this is the place to go

We have no complaints at all

The room was clean & tidy. It had both a bath and a shower overhead ensuite. There was the option of a separate breakfast.

A nuisance was that there was NO free wi-fi. You could pay for it as an extra but it did NOT say how much that would be so I just used a bit of my mobile data allowance. But I would not use that for working there as I would be on a laptop all of the time & that woiuld cost a lot of money. Another nuisance was that t BBC TV channel failed in the morning although ITV / STV was working. Had that happened to ITV / STV the previosu evening, I may have missed the Rugby World Cup Final. There was a big TV screen in the Public bar which MIGHT have had the RWC on in that event - Just a point to be mindful of.

All was absolutely fine. There was a local Golf event taking place and the Hotel was very busy. The Team did exceptionally well to facilitate everyone to the best of their ability. Every part of the Hotel was busy and everyone should see that when reviewing. The only feedback to forward that could be considered negative - The hotel is tired and ready for a makeover and upgrade. Admittedly, this will be extremely expensive due to the Size & age of this beautiful building.

The old part of the hotel was intriguing and had some nice architecture. Robert at reception was very welcoming and helpful. Room was very comfortable, clean and warm. Bar area spotless and bar staff served well with a smile. The price was very good for the standard of hotel, very competitive compared to local competition. Had a good sleep as bed was comfortable. 1st time to stay, will return again in future

There was nothing to complain about

Robert on reception was amazing….. the grounds are beautiful and we paid just over £50 for the room and airport parking was included for 6 nights ! Which is what we would have been for parking alone ! Welll worth the money and it was clean…. Can say anything bad… don’t stay if you want 5* luxury but if you want clean and affordable then this is the place for you…. Pool table bar with bingo and karaoke also

It’s a massssssive building so hard to maintain and upkeep I imagine but there are so many nice features it does look old in need of upgrade In some places but that didn’t bother us.
