This is a great hotel for weary travellers who have just completed the Pennine Way. The room was large well fitted out with great decor and a lovely comportable large bed. I was thankfuk that it also had a bath with which to rest my weary bones. The evening meal was of a good standard and great portion size. I found the oatcake and haggis with my full Scottish a pasrticularly nice touch. I would stay here again if thinking about exploring the area further.

Breakfast is served 8am until 10am. With my wife we went down to breakfast at 9am. We were a party of 6 with an additional 2 occupying a nearby table. Fresh fruit (melon) was available but nearly empty. I asked if this could be replenished but was told that there was no more fresh fruit available. I found this very surprising. In addition the only coffee available were the little sachets of Nescafe with hot water srved from an urn. I would have thought it reasonable to offer fresh coffee. One word of warning for those finishng walking the Pennine Way and not being collected by car. The Plough is around a further 1.5 miles alond the official end of the Pennine Way at the Border Hotel.

The Plough is located right by the village green and we were greeted warmly by locals as we backpacked into town. We really enjoyed the hospitality of the village itself, as well as happening upon the finish of the Spine race in nearby Kirk Yetholm. We were greeted warmly and found our room to be charming in it's simple rustic decor. The bathroom was spacious and clean with a view of the mountains behind. The pub and our dinner there was very good and a fun place to watch football with guests and regulars alike. Breakfast was simple and nice. Stanley the dog was very sweet.

It was hard to keep the water in the shower vs. running out onto the floor. But otherwise, no issues. Not much to see or do in the town, but we were just passing through and enjoyed being there and the quietness.

Great breakfast selection and quality. Old style hotel with cosy bar and friendly staff and appears to be well supported by the locals. On a bus route to Kelso but the operating hours are limited in the evening however we were able to get a taxi back. Good parking available in front of the pub along with a beer garden.

Thought it was a bit expensive but there was a lot going on in Kelso on the bank holiday weekend and was glad to have been able to stop fairly close to Kelso. Rooms a bit dated but were clean and big. Didn't like the soft batter on the fish.

Good sized room was nice and clean, able to get a comfortable room temperature using the electric heater for what was an exceptionally comfortable night's sleep for both of us. Breakfast consisted of everything you would want, including black pudding, haggis, eggs done to my liking, etc. Staff very pleasant. Room for parking immediately outside the front of the premises.

Really nothing much. The dining room was a little chilly for breakfast, though it was freezing outside.

Lovely hotel. Located in beautiful village, pub part clearly well supported by the locals. Had an exceptional room with lovely bathroom, ate in the bar, lovely food, staff super friendly and very open to requests to mix and match dishes. Excellent breakfast. Booked via B.com, staff worked really hard to change our room as a friend joined me and didnt want a double bed. Owner and staff really positive and work hard to look after customers, brilliant stay, best room of the week and we had some very good ones elsewhere.

Nothing, super as it is

This is a lovely little hotel, full of character with spacious rooms decorated in keeping with the age of the property. The room was spotless and the plumbing worked as it should ( which is not always the case in old hotels ). A nice well stocked bar downstairs serving good simple meals at reasonable prices ( try the Cullen skink !), breakfast was very nice also. We enjoyed our stay here and would stay again.

We unwittingly stayed on the weekend of the county show, the bar and restaurant were very busy and lively though the staff coped well. Our room was above the bar and it was a bit noisy on the Friday night.

The food was brilliant, special mentions to the mushrooms at breakfast. The check-in was very easy and even though the person who had to show us to our rooms was extremely busy in the bar area, she took us into our rooms & took the time to let us know everything about the room, breakfast and availability for feed in the bar area. She seemed to have time to have a laugh with everyone in the bar and helped make everyone feel welcome. The mattresses on the beds were top notch as well. Stanley, the owners dog was also worth the visit alone!

No working Wi-Fi.

Spectacular location. A stunning old proper inn with many of the original features and no bland decor or fixtures and fittings. I think it would be a place the likes of Agatha Christie would have written a darn good novel. My son was walking the Pennine Way and I was his Sherpa so we shared a lovely twin plus room. Super.

There was nothing about the Plough to dislike.

The room was spacious and comfortable The food was lovely The staff were brilliant

Didn't have breakfast as told didn't start until 7.30-8 however came down around 7.10 as had to leave early and found people were having breakfast so that was very disappointing Noise went on too long into the night with some bloke trying to kill off karaoke or something like that

This isn’t a fancy hotel but huge comfortable room, great atmosphere in bar and very dog friendly (dog allowed in breakfast room and bar). We loved the laid back atmosphere and fantastic staff who were really accommodating. One of the most genuinely dog friendly places we’ve stayed.

All good
