Obviously the views over looking the river and train station was fantastic.

The breakfast. No where did it say it was continental breakfast. Our booking showed breakfast inc then to pay an extra £10.99 for a quite frankly rubbish cooked breakfast is disgraceful. We were very disappointed with the breakfast. 1 item each no black pudding. This is such a massive shame. I really wouldn't have minded paying if it was decent. Shame.

After reading previous reviews we were apprehensive...and left thinking if people had visited the same place as us? From arrival the lady in reception was pleasant and helpful, explaining everything. All the staff were lovely ROOM The room was clean, warm and the view from our balcony was wonderful, enhanced our visit. We liked the idea of leaving our keys when going out, took away the stress of carrying them around. FOOD We had dinner in the restaurant, it was served in good time, very tasty and value for money (no more expensive than places in town) BREAKFAST INCLUDED IS CONTINENTAL however enough food to choose from, coissants, pan au chocolat, toast, cereal, fruit, yoghurts, cheeses and meats. Cooked breakfast is extra cost, larger available in town for same price but its a choice. The bar area is cosy and staff are very friendly and efficient. Please do not be influenced by previous reviews as they are unfair, picky and some downright rude. Im so glad we got to make our own minds up. AREA Beautiful location. Walking across the Chain Bridge was a lovely experience crossing over the rapids, watching canoeists fighting against current was entertaining. The whole area is astounding, if you love walking you will be in heaven here. We shall be returning in the future.

Only downside was parking, small car park and reserve parking is high above the hotel with metal steps which are very tricky with luggage, but not hotels fault, only so much they can do given beautiful location.

Lovely view from the room across the River, good tea tray (except 1 cup and 1 mug??) and good selection of toiletries. Restaurant food v good.

Although we knew that there wasn't a lift, the health of two of our party had declined since booking and they struggled with the second flight of stairs. If we stay again we would probably look at a room on the ground floor. Also didn't like the way the breakfast was presented... precooked on a hot plate, and a poor selection (no beans, mushrooms, and only 1 type of egg?)

Beautiful hotel , gorgeous setting next to the river ( which is quite wild ) and a non navigated stretch of the canal. The Chainbridge is a stylish mix of Victorian / Edwardian and modern - we loved the riverside room with a balcony - this is a must , if you stay here make sure you have a room with a balcony and river view. Staff were friendly and helpful 🙂 and everything was clean. A lovely relaxing bar 🍸 and a good quality breakfast - and catering for vegetarian tastes too. We also loved all of the fabulous plants in the outside area near the entrance - a lively touch. Highly recommended👌

The extractor fan in our bathroom (room 17) didn't appear to work - not a problem for us but hotels need to keep on top of things like that to prevent damage to their facilities.

When booking the room it stated breakfast was included, which you asume it is a cooked breakfast (Full English) on arrival when paying for the room we were told only a continental breakfast is included and a cooked breakfast was extra £10.95 per person pre ordered for the following morning, clear details should be provided at time of booking, the cooked breakfast also was poor for £10.95, 1 sausage,1 piece of bacon ,1 egg, half tomato ,3 small mushrooms and small amount of beans and 1 small piece of fried bread, also booking in was 3pm onwards which only gave us 2 hours of daylight to enjoy the river view and had to check out before 11am

Staff were very nice, excellent location, good breakfast. We were in Llangollen for a wedding, so didn’t spend much time in the hotel but there were nice areas to sit and have a drink and the river view is mesmerising.

The location was beautiful. It's situated right on the river bank with lovely views down the valley. There was a warm welcome when we arrived and every time were returned from a day out . Breakfast was basic but well cooked . We had dinner at the hotel on our first night . There was a good choice of dishes to choose from and portions were well cooked, tasty and generous. Just a slight staffing issue which meant we had to wait longer than usual but we were warned about this before we were seated. These things happen!! We had no issue with this at all . In fact we felt that the staff on duty , particularly the chef coped extremely well. Our room was cosy , warm and clean, with a balcony overlooking the river . Tea , coffee and biscuits etc were available in the room . These were replenished daily . On the ground floor there were plenty of comfortable little knooky places to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and on the veranda there were lots of pretty hanging baskets of flowers. You could even walk on the chain bridge that crossed the river . A great big Thankyou !! to everyone at this hotel . Well done. Your doing a great job . And as ' Arnie 'said " we'll be back " xx

I'm being a bit picky now but maybe a shelf in the bathroom to put yer toiletries on . A few more coat hangers too .

What a place to stay! We booked it as a stopover on the way to Portmeirion and the pictures on line showed it to be picturesque. The reality of it did not disappoint. The weather was not great with there having been torrential rain during the day, but in some ways that improved the overall ambiance of the place. We sat out on the balcony in the pouring rain looking at the torrent of a river roaring past, and due to the cover on the balcony of the room above we stayed perfectly dry. The view of the hill opposite with the station of the narrow gauge railway and the waterfall pouring down into the roaring river flowing under the chain bridge was exceptional. The room was impeccably clean and comfortable with nicer decor than most homogeneous hotel rooms. The communal areas were again comfortable and relaxing. The bar was clearly used by dog owning locals who were also very friendly. We don't have a dog, but have recommended it to friends who do like to travel with their pooch as they have dedicated rooms for dog owners. When we arrived we were a little apprehensive due to some dubious reviews, but after our visit I can only conclude those guests must have been having a really bad day! One review commented on the ambiguity of parking charges - when we arrived there were clear signs throughout the car park detailing parking was free for residents, but you did have to register your car at reception (as is the case with many hotels these days). We did this on the screen which was clear on the counter at reception and had no problems. Another concerning review was about the quality of food and temperament of staff - we found all the staff to be friendly and welcoming, from reception, to bar and restaurant serving staff. I don't know what the person who complained about the food was expecting, there was a good variety of dishes for the evening meal and the meals we both had (Sea Bass and Sweet Chili Salmon) were lovely. Breakfast was equally great.

Parking was a little challenging for a large car (we have a Jaguar) as the access road is narrow with some sharp turns, and the main car park itself is on a narrow strip of land between the river and the canal (as is the hotel which adds to its charm). This did add some jeopardy when completing the three point turn to get out of the car park but there is a second car park further up the hill which I imagine would be more straight forward. As I am disabled I preferred not to walk down the steps from the overflow car park. None of this would prevent me from booking here again!

Location is lovely by the canal. A bit of a walk from the main town of Llangollen, but a nice steady walk down the picturesque canal. Alternatively a 2 minute drive. Bit difficult to find at first. You can see it but an't get to the car park. Once you have done it once, it is fine. Talking of car park, it's a long narrow one by the side of the canal and when it is busy, it can be a bit tricky getting in and out. Nothing major however. Just something to be aware of. Breakfast was lovely but won't overfill you. No cereals or fruit etc laid out, it is all on a menu. What we had was very nice however.

Some fruit, cereals, juice, yoghurt etc laid out at breakfast would be nice. A fresh cooked breakfast is brilliant, but some sundries before or after it would be nice. Again nothing major.

The setting is with relaxing and tranquil. Surrounded by nature and next to a flowing river. Nature's own spa and beautifully decorated paths and balconies looking across the river and chainbridge. Staff welcoming, helpful, hardworking and polite. Tidy and clean hotel and room. Power Shower great feature. Restaurant food exceptional first meal upon arrival and good range of choice on the menu. Lovely view from room and overlooking the river and small quaint train station stop across the river. Books, DVDs, board games to choose from and beautiful fireplace and sitting lounge areas. Refreshing to see a book swap on the stairs going up to the rooms. Nice little bar with drinking area also overlooking the river. Walking routes on the door step and would think about going back to in the future 😊

Bed could of been more comfortable although did manage to sleep. Quite warm due to hot weather although they did have fans. Floor boards a bit creaky although I think my room was above the restaurant rather than someones room. There are 2 car parks. Parking at the secondary car park if you are a late check in as the primary is a smaller car park and tight road to get down too as well.
