Great location in the centre of town. Friendly welcome. Easy to park, probably due to time of year. Decent breakfast - no alternative veggie options, but I am used to that and can quite happily eat a plate full of all the other items of a full English (or Welsh!) The food that was there was very nicely done. It was all clean and tidy, and very good value for money. The cost of hotels, especially in the UK seems to have risen at a ridiculous rate. The Hand was very reasonably priced for what you get.

I could see how the parking might get interesting - its a big area but with no marked spaces and no need to hand over your Reg no. I suspect people would cause issues at busy times. The chef was off sick so no evening meal. That was disappointing as the food looked very inviting on the hotel details. Luckily its close to all of the shops in the town. There was a fair bit of noise from outside, nothing to do with the hotel except the fact the windows are single glazed. I always carry ear plugs so I popped them in and had a good nights sleep.

We had the Christmas Dinner at the hotel which was excellent. Very good buffet breakfasts . Bar and breakfast staff excellent pleasant and helpful . Reception staff very helpful throughout visit. Location central. Parking at Hotel. Bedroom heated by Electric Radiator which I liked as you could set to you own preference. Beds were comfortable.

Overall cleanliness of the communal areas e.g stairwell could do with extra attention. It was dog friendly Hotel but was at times quite noisy in bar with barking dog. Decoration wish Hotel needs attention.

Llangollen is a lovely location and the Hand Hotel is smack bang in the middle of it so it is a great base for exploring. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We only had breakfast which was fully self-service but there was plenty of variety and the quality was great. Overall a very relaxed environment.

My biggest concern was with parking. The car park is very small and, therefore fills very quickly with cars being triple parked in places. As the hotel doesn't ask or record registration numbers, I am not sure how they would address an issue where a driver has become blocked in. We were lucky to get a space on each of our two nights (only just squeezed in on our second night). The other thing people need to remember (& I think it is mentioned by the hotel in their advert), access to the rooms is by stairs only; no lifts/elevators. Getting to the rooms can be a little confusing with multiple stairs branching off stairs. Everything is well signposted as you climb but there are lots of steps to climb to get to your room.

Fabulous location right in the town centre and by the river. 15 mins walk from the Llangollen Eisteddfod along the canal. We were in family room 19 (one double, two singles). Had a great view of the river and the castle. It also meant we were over the bar area but it wasn't a problem. Staff were very friendly, breakfast was good. Bed was comfortable, room was clean. We were able to park in the carpark, but it was getting full. If you are going when there is an event on, get there early.

Decor was a bit dated, but everything was clean.

(I stayed as a single using it as a base for doing Offa's Dyke Path). Great location for access to the Path. Big private parking area and the hotel were more than happy to let me leave the car there for the morning that I checked out, whilst I went walking. Easy walk into town. Room was small and basic but comfortable (Room 9). WiFi worked well and was free and without the need to join or register with something! Good breakfast included with full range of cooked and cold on offer.

Only :( was that the pillow was uncomfortable (too 'plump'). Realised in the morning that I could have used the cushion used to 'decorate' the bed I suppose!

The location of the hotel was excellent, in the heart of Llangollen, and our room was overlooking the river Dee, Dinas Bran and the beer garden, which had it's own bar open during daylight hours because the weather happened to be lovely whilst we were there. There was a well stocked bar in the hotel, a restaurant and a car park. You will be issued with a free permit by the hotel to park your car. Bar snacks were available from the hotel bar or in the restaurant from 6:30pm. There was a buffet breakfast with plenty of choice, served from 07:30 to 09:30 during the week and slightly later at the weekend. Our room was comfortable with a double bed and two easy chairs in which to sit to watch the small TV. Tea and coffee were provided, but no biscuits.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much but at quiet times there was no-one serving behind the bar in the hotel and a visit had to be made to reception to ask to be served. Also, as our room was overlooking the beer garden we could hear the general chitchat until late evening, however, it was nice to watch everyone enjoying the lovely warm days and evenings.

Great location, and convenience of onsite bar and restaurant was just what we wanted. Deck was perfect for drinks after long flight and drive. Quaint old property, lots of history, would stay again. Love walking around the town. Love the old church grounds

Pillows were a bit thin but was able to combine 2 to make one solid pillow. A bit of a maze getting to our room but made sense after seeing the outside and view from our room. Directions to the car park could have been a bit clearer listings which street we needed to arrive on to turn into car park. We found street parking to check in then we were able to move our car out back for the night.

Although the room was a little small it was comfortable enough and we had a view over the river. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold options, although the addition of some croissants would not have gone amiss. We have stayed at The Hand before and knew what t expect as far as the look of the hotel. The main reason we returned is it's location in the centre of Llangollen and it's large car park. The staff are all friendly and helpful.

As above the addition of some pastries, ie croissants to the breakfast choices would have been appreciated.

The Hand Hotel is in a great location, the shops bars and restaurants are just a short stroll away. Staff are great, friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a large family room with our grandchildren, the room was clean and comfortable and the views from the room of the river and mountains were fabulous. Breakfast was amazing, I'm not normally a fan of help yourself buffet breakfasts but this was exceptional, everything on offer was excellent quality, well cooked and delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend the Hand Hotel and look forward to staying again next time I am in Llangollen.

Everything was good

A lovely old hotel, just off the High Street, which was nice and quiet. No road or town noise. There was no noise from other bedrooms (or the corridors) due to the age of the building. It’s sturdy! Not like these modern hotels with paper thin walls. There isn’t a lift, but you didn’t need lifts in the 1800s , so don’t expect them to have one. You’ll need to navigate yourself to your bedroom but that’s all part of its charm. The new addition of an outside bar (overlooking the river) was perfect for a warm day. The accommodation was really clean and the staff were lovely. The food was good as well and there were plenty of options for breakfast.
