Fantastic place to stay! Will definitely be back. Travelling with my children and it was perfect. Location was great for visiting natural history museum and some exhibitions. We arrived early and Zara on reception was really friendly and helpful when she found out the room was ready and she could check us in early. We were only on a quick visit to London so this was really appreciated. The room was up lots of stairs to the top floor but it was worth the effort because the room was fantastic. It has a balcony to sit out on and enjoy the park views and the birds singing. Very peaceful. The room was spacious, had tea & coffee making facilities, large TV and the shared bathroom was just out of the door and very clean. The facilities were brilliant in the hostel and breakfast was delicious and good value continental breakfast, good coffee to set you up for the day ahead. Very friendly and helpful man working on the breakfast but I didn't get his name unfortunately. All staff were friendly and helpful, cannot recommend enough. Really pleasantly surprised by this place and will definitely be back. Thank you!

Lots of stairs but the room was worth it. Squeaky double bed

Breakfast was a bit better and actually had some fruit. It begins really early at 7 so when I wake at 9 I have to scramble to get in lol it costs £8 for the whole meal so make sure to have your buffet fill of coffee, milk, cereal, baked goods, meats and cheese. As my for stay, the staff was so friendly and even when I needed to test out their adapter without buying, they let me (since I only had adapters I had purchased from Italy). The beds were soft enough and the showers warm. But you need to keep pressuring the button to keep the shower on cause it turns off after about a minute or so. There’s designated lockers but you need to buy a lock to keep valuables safe. I only decided to keep mine on my bed so if anyone tried to steal I would feel it. It was so comfortable to stay there though I booked it twice.

Needed more fruit options. Also it really depends on your roommates cause one night during my stay had a woman that loved to toss and turn above me and so it was hard to sleep because she kept making noise.

So many popular areas are so close to you. Holland Park, Westfield Shopping Centre, Kensington High Street, Oxford Street, Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove. The mansion is set in a park and it's scenic is stunning. It makes the stay so cosy and warm. Private bedside makes it even more desirable. A really good stay for a fortnight. Great on this occasion.

It's a shame that there's no shared kitchen facilities. That would of made it great. There is food though you can buy. Meeting loads of new people who go there is a great way to forget that. Games involved and 24 hour reception makes you feel safe at all times.

Staff were very good at dealing with wide range of guests. Not overly chatty as usually busy but helpful and friendly when asked for anything. Dorms, bathrooms cleaned daily. Large common room at reception. The surrounding park is v nice. Location good - close to public transport. My dorm spacious, double bunks & beds have privacy curtains.

Corridors, stairwells not swept regularly. Too few toilets & showers for number of guests when busy. Probably due to structure of building. No cooking facilities even a kettle/ microwave. Limited hot food sold by staff but only up to 2130. Too few power sockets in common room. Shower temp fixed at warm/hot, can't adjust. Can't finish with cold shower

Staff were friendly, , however it was a three story bunk bed so I had the one on the floor. Not nice. Not comfortable. You couldn’t sit up in the bunk as the were really squashed down, you had to literally crawl into the bunk. I was in the woman’s room, I felt safe, the noise in the passages was was unbearable as there was a school group running amock up and down the stairs at midnight screaming and having fun as kids do. Luckily I was in a room with a brave woman who told them off and we never heard from them again. The staff should have sorted this out. Obviously they were not interested. Clean bathrooms, clean rooms, apart from the noisy midnight revellers, I would come back.

The noise from other people

One of the best breakfasts available at any hotel or hostel and I do get around. The competition on it is St Christophers in Amsterdam at same price and general presentation but the thing that puts Safestay HP up a notch is the added variety (pain au chocolat, for example) and, more than that, the person who's doing it all really checking the reaction 'on the floor'. She really cares that it's going down well!

The only thing that's not as great as it was since the Covid palaver is the absence of the moat and the koi carp that were in it. This isn't a complaint as I know they had to be saved from the covid closure but I do miss them although I suspect they're in the japanese garden in the park. Also know that newer staff might go 'What is he on about?' But yeah...there were beautiful big fish of all colours in the Castle moat until covid! So...I have a suggestion, should they never return. Turn the moat into a herb garden instead?

Convenient location hear Hyde park. Atmospheric castle-like building facing the Holland park. The water fountains at the property work non-stop 24/7. Both the yard and the common area hall are pretty spacious. Room: clean quiet room. 3-level bunk new beds. Soft mattress, comfy blanket and pillow. Sufficient ventillation. En-suite shower and lavatory. Shower room contains liquid soap, there is toilet paper in the lavatory, and both are clean. There are lockers in the room (you should have your own lock or rent one at reception, though). The beds are equipped with sliding curtains for privacy. The bedding is already fitted onto beds before arrival. There is a local light, 1-2 USB charging ports, and a power socket. Everything works.

The staff at the reception were not very friendly and seemed bored. Breakfast is not free. Towels are provided for a fee. A room would benefit from having chairs, at least one. It would also be a good idea to put some kind of signposts in the vicinity of the hostel's entrance to simplify directing new travellers at night.

Right in the middle of Holland Park, coming in to the hostel was so nice. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Beds/rooms were nicer than I expected for the price. They say they don't guarantee beds together but I was still placed with my daughter. And they actually allow minors, which a lot of places did not. The water was hot. The 24 hour check in and common room that stayed open late/All night was a nice place for chatting and doing work. My daughter enjoyed the green space in the common areas just outside and listening to the music from the opera house.

The downstairs bathrooms were a disaster most the week, but a half floor up were much nicer. They have a charge for bringing your own food to the commons and you cannot put food in the locker, but the dining closes at 9:30 which is the time people go to eat where i live. Continental breakfast is pricey for the options avaliable compared to other hotels in other countries, but London is pretty expensive so I'm not sure it's fair to even mention. Kiddo was disappointed that the hot chocolate was never filled and coffee machine did not use milk, only more water. One of the beds was exposed

People politeness in general, room very good. I really felt I was in security. No alcool, no drogs. No smoking inside. There was a machine to withdraw money from acredit card, that, in my case, I couldn't possibly use.

A little bit of lack of felexibility. sinc I had lost my credit card, it was impossible for me to pay for a towel, and they couldn't make an exception. I didn't ask for food, just a towel. But otherwise they did what they could to help me. I was unable to quote the items hereabove. I would quote first 9 items as excellent. I thought it would be usefull for people who are not familiar with London, to suggest an itinary (street names) from the underground to the hotel, I walked a lot around before I could find with the salutary help of a Londonian resident who walked me to the site, guiding himself with a map taken on Internet.

Bed was perfectly comfortable for the price - main thing was the bedding was CLEAN & FRESH. Location of the Hostel is of course excellent I really appreciated the secure locker room. I really was impressed with the courteous and helpful attitude of the staff. i really liked that the ambience was generally calm & peaceful. I REALLY appreciated the facility of a Travelex FREE to use Cash machine.

******* I CANNOT EMPHASISE THE FOLLWOING ENOUGH - so PLEASE TAKE NOTICE !!!!! ********** I ******** HATED ******** the fact that the Safestay Hostel policy was "CARD ONLY" - - this single, overwhelming fact means that I will NEVER recommend Safestay to ANYONE that I know or meet, DESPITE the fact that the staff were lovely and helpful, and the accommodation itself was just fine for the price.
