I loved the room-- super spacious and with a lovely bustling view of the street below. It also had a dresser (!) which I love on trips, a desk to work at, and a very comfortable bed. I loved the beer garden and had a great dinner while I was there. Breakfast was well-appointed and in a gorgeous room.

The only thing I didn't like was that the mirror faced the bed-- this is an old-school superstition of mine and I think several other people have it too. I always cover the mirror or turn it away. Also, it would have been nice to have shampoo/conditioner/etc in large bottles instead of single-use, but I understand that that is not always possible.

This is a hidden gem, one of the nicest places I've stayed in London. The rooms are over a pub but there's no noise (only noise from the traffic/busy road), our twin room was much bigger than I expected, and so comfortable. Gorgeous bathroom too with Rituals products. There was complimentary still and sparkling water, enough tea and coffee for a week, hairdryer and iron...nothing was missing. Breakfast was a continental option and excellent. We ate in the bar 1 night, it's a small menu but the food was yummy. We'd have eaten there the second night too if we could have! Such a lovely relaxed setting. And the staff...the welcome was so friendly, she showed us around while our bags were brought up to our room, and nothing was too much trouble. They have an app to make lives easier too if anything is needed for the room. It seems they've thought of everything to help customers feel more relaxed and comfortable there. Overall, this really is a fabulous place to stay, we'll absolutely be back! 10 mins walk from Manor Hoise tube on the Picadilly line, and 12 mins walk from Finsbury Park concert venue. Thanks to everyone at the Brownswood for making our stay so perfect!

There's nothing I can put here. If I had to say something, the location of 10 mins walk from the tube..but that's not even a negative. And there are bus stops close by in any case...

We recently had the pleasure of staying at The Brownswood Hotel, conveniently located near Clissold Park in the charming area of Hackney. This hotel proved to be a superb choice, particularly as we were attending a wedding party at nearby Clissold House. The guest rooms at The Brownswood are well-appointed, offering a blend of comfort and style that made our stay exceptionally pleasant. Each room is meticulously designed to ensure that guests feel both pampered and at home. One of the highlights of our stay was the hotel’s friendly pub. It boasts an excellent selection of food and drink, making it a perfect spot for dining alfresco, especially since the weather was cooperative during our visit. The quality of the meals was outstanding, with a menu that catered to a variety of tastes and preferences. Breakfast at The Brownswood was another delightful experience. Served with high-quality ingredients including fresh sourdough bread, proper butter, a variety of fruits, cereals, ham, cheese, and yogurts, it was the ideal start to our day. The attention to detail and quality was evident in every dish served. The staff at The Brownswood deserves a special mention. From the warm welcome by Alex upon our arrival to the exceptional service provided by the lovely woman who served our breakfast each morning, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable. Their friendliness and readiness to assist with any request made our experience even more special. Additionally, the hotel's location is extremely convenient. With a bus stop just outside, we were only four stops away from Finsbury Park Station, providing easy access to explore the city further. Overall, The Brownswood Hotel is a gem in Hackney, combining excellent amenities with first-rate service and a prime location. It's an ideal choice for anyone looking for a comfortable, enjoyable stay in

Nothing.

Great staff / food - room spotless and lovely despite being busy pub and by a main road the room was quiet and lovely All of the staff as always were lovely - it can be difficult travelling as a women alone for work sometimes but I always feel comfortable and welcome here

Pretty expensive - if hadnt stayed before and loved it may have been put off by the price options for a hot breakfast would be great ( I’m not bothered but know my husband is !) however the continental breakfast provided was fresh and tasty

The room was very comfortable with a good bed, clean bathroom and windows that could be opened. The toiletries were a nice touch. The staff of the Brownswood is friendly and always ready to help. The host welcomed us and communication was very clear and smooth. It was rather warm (for UK standards) during our stay, and since there is no airconditioning the Brownswood provided a fan/ventilator. Since it is above a pub, there is some noise from the outdoor terrace. This did not disturb us, we rather enjoyed the pub-like atmosphere and had a few lovely evenings having some drinks and food. The breakfast options were sufficient. We never left the guesthouse with an empty stomach. The Brownswood is located near Finsbuy park station and there are multiple ways to get to your destination in the city centre. Plenty of busstops nearby, it is on a nightbus route and there are different Underground lines to choose from.

The lack of airconditioning (although the fan and open windows worked fine for us to cool down).

Lovely place on the corner of 2 not too busy streets, it's actually a pub with a huge terrace and hence lively, but not too much in my opinion. The staff of the bar is basically the check in & check out staff. The rooms are very big for London standards & clean & nicely decorated with a comfy bed and nice shower. There was complimentary still & fuzzy water in glass bottles daily, tea & coffee making facilities. The breakfast was nice, with on demand special vegan milk & yoghurt. Unfortunately only jam for the toast so I brought my own peanut butter ;-) You can eat in the pub & there are vegan options ! The ladies at the breakfast was especially friendly & accommodating. The hotel only has a few rooms, so definitely book in time. Tip: the Clissold park nearby is lovely for a stroll or run !

It's not accessible for people that can't walk (easily) due to the steep stairs.

Good location, several bus stops nearby can bring you anywhere in London. The underground station is within walking distance (around 10 mins). The staff was exceptional, from the bar tenders to the cleaning and breakfast staff. Thumbs up for Dita. The room was very clean. There is a very convenient Sainsbury´s store around the corner where you can buy basic groceries. Good breakfast. There was hardly any noise coming from the pup downstairs.

Be prepared for lots of noise from street traffic. Closing the windows brings the noise down but then, you will need a ventilator, specially during summer time (there was one in the room). The draining from the shower may smell (sewer odor) from times to times. Wi-Fi unstable at times.

Loved the staff; continental breakfast was excellent (particularly the fresh fruit salad). Very nice comfortable room, with catch-up shops available on TV

Very minor quibble, the WiFi was on the slow side (c. 15 Mbps) which meant that there was occasional buffering when watching catch-up TV. Room not cheap, but not unreasonable for but actually not unreasonable for London, particularly given its location, with bus-stops just outside. (But NB no onsite parking).

Our room was was very spacious and had everything we needed. It was beautifully decorated and comfortable including the queen size bed. It was well soundproofed and although we were overlooking the pub garden there was no noise when the window was closed. Breakfast was very nice. You chose what you would like in advance and could ask for any extras. The dining area was large and you don’t feel too close to the few other diners. All the staff were very friendly. There was no on site parking but we booked a nearby space through Just Park and this worked well.

it wasn’t a huge issue for us but the weather was very hot when we stayed and because the room was south facing the room was very warm. They had kindly provided a fan in the room but we did have to leave it almost the whole time we were there including overnight. The fan was quiet so wasn’t too much of a problem.

The breakfast was like no breakfast i have ever had anywhere. It was exceptional! the attention to detail was wonderful! at first i was a little bit disappointed that i wouldn't be having a full english breakfast but what i was given was so much better, it was fresh, expensive, plentiful and the breakfast room offered a really lovely quiet environment to start your day right and the added extras like homemade yoghurt and tea in a beautiful tea set just added to our experience thank you so much and we would recommend to everyone and anyone! Location - we did find it was a slightly longer walk to the underground than anticipated but it was manageable and to anyone staying please note there are quite a few stairs to the room but when we got there the room was worth it! GORGEOUS! We stayed for 2 nights and unfortunately on the first night there must of been something happening as there were quite a few police cars with their sirens wizzing past although we saw nothing it did make us grateful that we did have our earplugs but i'm confident this was a one off as the next night was silent. The staff were lovely and welcoming and we ate in the pub / restaurant the one evening and it was lovely food and such a cool vibe very 90s fashion fun! Thank you for a great stay! :)

The only thing i would of loved is a shower cap as our shower head was really big so if i had a shower i would of wet my hair which honestly i couldn't be bothered to do. You provided literally everything else and went above and beyond so please don't take this as criticism but instead an idea for the rooms with the large shower heads.
