For an outwardly unremarkable basic hotel room I everything I needed on this trip. Comfy bed and a real bonus was the excellent large well equipped gym and swimming pool sauna steam jacuzzi area. I went home fitter then when I arrived. There is also good countryside walk woodland trust public footpath close to the hotel. Plenty of parking which felt pretty safe and secure. Good for larger vehicles as well. Staff are great very welcoming, always busy seemed to be a well functioning and happy team of people doing a good job. Front desk and organisiation was very user friendly. I had to change my booking several times due to changing work commitments but they accommodated me comfortably and with no fuss. Minor issues with the room (bath plug broke ) were resolved very quickly. Breakfast is good set me up for the day. Dinners in the large pub bar area big screen football most nights not my thing but not the end of the world. Surprisingly good selection of bottled beers and wines. Food was really well done and sensibly priced good quality food well presented and cooked. A good size tea mug in the rooms was a pleasant surprise made me feel at home thanks

Rooms are a little dated and tired but the essentials are bang on i.e comfy bed clean linen towels and hygiene. If you are looking for a boutique hotel this is not it. but for work rest and play it hits all my marks.

The free spa access & the breakfast. Was panicking the hotel was going to be terrible after ready reviews but was very pleasantly surprised.

The TV was broken in the bedroom & the rooms are dated but are clean. They are more than sufficient for a night or two away.

Being able to use the gym is a plus at the price. The rooms are a good size and bedroom is comfortable.

The bathroom was very tight to use. Main parking is always full. Had to use the overflow where the road surface is very uneven.

Me and my daughter stayed at the sporting Lodge for 4 nights. My daughter had stayed here before and recommend it. We had booked Take That concert at the Riverside football stadium. We loved everything about the hotel location, and the hotel staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was a bother. The bar prices were very reasonably priced. The breakfast was very nice and plenty to choose from. We enjoyed going in to the swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish. It was so relaxing we felt so chilled after it.We had the Sunday lunch it was beautiful but so big it could have done the both of us that's not a complaint though just my thought on it. We would definitely recommend the sporting lodge and we will definitely be back 👍 😀

Nothing that I didn't like about this hotel

Accommodation as expected, parking great, facilities great that I experienced, mainly very attentive catering and bar staff checking up on tables at regular intervals, getting the up sell on drinks for single customers that don’t want to leave their tables ( best use of the walk around and ask I have seen for ages). ( I didn’t have a chance to try the gym and pool but sounded a great set up from talking to some of the other contractors and seeing the number of early morning gym buffs it must be performing well.)

My card for my room had a random hiccup on day 2, sorted in under 10 mins though

Facilities were great our group used the gym, pool and sauna which were clean and well equipped. We had an evening meal and breakfast during our stay which I thought was quick, tasty and value for money. The staff were a great help and very polite engaging in conversation with us during the stay nothing was a problem for them. Dogs were welcomed and treated like mini guests....even being offered wee treats at breakfast!!! Rooms are little dates in decor but super clean and comfortable for the night.

Only a little thing and don't know if we missed them but no physical copy of the menu for the evening meal available. We had to use a QI code on a mobile phone which elderly members of our group found difficult to use and read.

The hotel and facilities were sparkling clean. The room was comfortable, newly decorated and very clean with plenty of tea/coffee/nice biscuits (nice touch). Towels were lovely white and fluffy, bedding was clean and crisp. Yes the furniture and fixings are rather dated, but it really didn't matter. The staff were warm and welcoming, as were the local people we came across in the bar and leisure club. This makes a big difference when you're travelling alone with children, you feel safer! The food in the bar/restaraunt was excellent. Great variety and all home cooked. The staff were friendly and great with my little boy. He also appreciated watching the sports on the big screens. The pool, spa facilities and changing areas were perfect. Clean, bright and not over crowded. My children visited 5 times in 3 days! The gardens are lovely to soak up a bit of sun and run around in but we didn't get the weather. Location for us was perfect, not far from home, close to Preston park for a day out, 10 mins drive to Yarm for shopping and restaraunts. We had a great stay and we will visit again.

Only issue we had was a couple things not working great in the room, I reported these but only after we left as it didn't affect our stay at all.

I liked the area itself, the place is old yes and it gave this vintage vibe that I kinda liked, ofcourse, didn't get a chance to go to the Jacuzzi or Gym because we had fun in the room slept so well with no disturbance, the staff were friendly we love it ofcourse and yeah was lovely honestly

To be honest maybe the Food it was not really really that good for an expensive prices like that it made up to go eat out and buy things from outside we only had breakfast once and it was better than what we had the other night. Or maybe I would've tried something else but all in all it wasn't that nice. And the other thing is that our Bed sheets were not changed we were there for 4 days and slept in those dirty sheets for all those days was disappointed honestly, and we would appreciate if we can find things like toothpaste and a toothbrush in the toilet just incase we forgot ours too,

The Supervisor Barbara was most helpful, we were in area for a family funeral and our Sat Nav was not finding the address as the crematorium was new. She patiently gave me directions and paper and pen to write them down. Another recepionist memember of staff helped me get WiFi connection too. The Pool & Spa facilities were really welcome at such a stressful time.

I had booked a double room 137 but one side was against wall which at ages 66 & 65 was awkward for husband to go to loo during the night. No Wifi information in room.

Overall everything was nice and as expected, we have stayed before and will stay again.

We booked for New Years Eve and we rang up several weeks before to enquire about 'Tickets' for the Disco and the Cher Tribute Act and Tables etc, to be told we didn't need to do anything or book anything as we were already guests, so ths was all included in our Stay. But then on the Night we found out we did need to book tickets and reserve Tables etc. This was quit annoying, disappointing and frustrating as there were 11 of us and we had 5 Children with us also. We feel there was poor planning and communication involved with the Hotel unfortunately. We struggled to find seats and get food . Not ideal with Children and older guests who have a walking stick.
