A hotel of historical interest where every care has been taken to promote and preserve that heritage. Cosy, welcoming and perfectly placed. Used by local community for celebrating life events which lovely to see. Breakfast on the Saturday with buffet served in silver servers amazing. Just like home made n appeared to be local produce as top quality. Staff exceptionally helpful and went beyond to help. Such a relaxing stay. Thank you to everyone for outstanding hard work to make my stay as enjoyable as possible.

Nothing. I was attending a course at Fieldgate Flowers with Roz Chandler at the Thatched Barn who procedures British grown flowers. It would be nice to see a collaboration with flowers supplied to hotel to promote organic sustainably grown British products which would appear to underpin the values of your hotel and service.

Hotel retained an historic ambience. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order as was the dinner. As a family owned and managed hotel it retains the elements of attention that can be lost in this impersonal digital age and all the staff, including the breakfast chef, were very friendly and helpful in a genuinely concerned way....rather a delight, these days. I was very relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

There are always aspects that one can grumble about wherever and I was delighted that the inevitable and ubiquitous background music was lowered and even turned off at my request. I was very grateful because many establishments argue about, refuse to or pretend to lower the sound which, to my ears, always accentuates the mid and higher frequencies thus lacking balance and causing irritation. Thank you for managing this irritation in such an understanding manner.

Location. Staff, esp. lady in dining room on the mornings of Monday, 8th, and Tuesday, 9th May. She was most attentive and of great assistance to me. I have a walker to help with mobility and she made life so much easier. I remember her from previous stays, and she is an asset to the hotel. I also like that the main breakfast meal is served to table, and not a buffet, as this is better for me. The lady on reception when I checked in at around 7.00 p,m. on Friday, 5th May, was also exceptionally pleasant and got me a nice quiet room.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff were welcoming and helpful, bed was comfortable and our room had everything we wanted/ needed. The restaurant food was excellent and served in generous portions; breakfast was hot and freshly cooked, service very speedy. We'd happily stay here again if we need to be in the area.

The only, very minor, dislike was being served reconstituted powdered egg at breakfast rather than 'proper' scrambled eggs but that's maybe down to purely personal taste. Absolutely nothing else we could fault.

We didn't like the fact that the other guests from a party in the Cobb and Penn kept coming back to their rooms on the same floor as ours and made quite a lot of noise talking very loudly and laughing and banging doors.Also we were woken at 02.00hrs Inthe morning by a man making horse noises and running up and down the corridor and then knocking on our friends door! Perhaps in future you would think about where you placed your guests when you have functions on like this as I myself and my friends did not get much sleep other than that everything else was great about your establishment and all your staff were polite and friendly One note if advise though ..the TV cables in the rooms need to be behind some conduit as these were just hanging there and this is a health and safety issue.

We really like this hotel and stay here often. It is in the heart of Newport Pagnell in easy walking distance of shops and restaurants, with free onsite parking. Excellent breakfast included in the price and nice to have the bar/restaurant facilities in house. This hotel is an old building which is full of character and old world charm. Lovely staff who are always helpful and welcoming

Although the hotel has a lift, some rooms are only accessible by stairs. If this is a problem for you, you should request a room without stairs

It's old and wonky. Full of quirky character. Very dog friendly. Being in town it has its own busy lounge bar and a pub bar next door. People in both were friendly & chatty, and it was easy to feel immediately at home here. Staff were relaxed and helpful. The bedroom was large and free of clutter and was surprisingly quiet being at the front of the hotel. The bathroom is small and neat, with all you need. The room had a large slope to it. Which was quite funny and part of the charm, but it did mean the bed was on a wonk. Additional charges for dogs make it costly for one night. 🐶🐶

The breakfast in the morning (included) was unreal and you get to choose what you want! They had gluten free bread and lactose free (almond) milk. The lady on the desk was lovely and helpful and dogs are allowed for no extra charge. This time the room was £20 cheaper so the prices really do go up and down depending on the day. Amazing stay!

I guess some people won't like that you're not allowed to take food into the room from somewhere else (takeaway etc) and the restaurant closes early so if you're hungry you have to go out to eat. This wasn't a problem for us as the location is great and there's plenty of places to choose from. I wish that hotel restaurant had longer opening times as we would've eaten there for dinner!

I liked the old fashioned style ! It is nicer than it looks on the photo. The town is very nice and a good distance from Milton Keynes. I stayed over to see a gig at the bowl venue and wanted somewhere outside of the main city to stay. The food was also really nice!

I think if the lift doesn’t go to the third floor this should be mentioned. I’m less mobile at the moment and found it hard to drag my suitcases up stairs with little notice.

breakfast was substantial with quality products good location nice relaxing bar area with pub attached. Have stayed on numerous occasions in past 11 years

room cold on arrival with only a small convector heater Bathroom heater didnt get warm at all apart from at the bottom so was cold getting out of bath shower No bath mat for when getting out of shower. Only 1 toilet roll in room so had to ask for another noisy fan in the bathroom woke up my partner in the night when i used the toilet
