Huge bonus was that we were allocated a family suite (with two bedrooms + shared bathroom) so didn't have to share a twin room only with friend. Double room was very spacious. Were able to have good evening meal on site rather than driving out to eat. Rustic charm of property. En route north so only about 10 minute detour from motorway so ideal for overnight stay
Bedroom bit noisy near busy rural main road. The small shopping area associated with Slaters has now closed down so building under construction and unkempt. No fresh fruit at breakfast.

a last-minute booking I needed a bed for the night while traveling for work. My only disappointment was that I wasn't staying longer. It looked a bit posh when I arrived and I thought I would be underdressed to eat here, but it was great the staff was really helpful and friendly and the food was great, a really nice warm feeling in the pub section. The room was big and very comfortable. I needed to be away very early so missed breakfast but I was offered breakfast to go! Lovely location with plenty of safe parking. I will go back to spend more time there and enjoy the place next time. Excellent!!

The food in the restaurant was excellent, especially after a 4 hour drive from London! We were visiting Keele University and this was only a 10 minute drive away. The beds were comfortable; great to have a room with enough plug sockets in to charge phones and computers without unplugging a light! Full English breakfast in the morning was a bonus!
Our son had a room backing onto the road, so experienced a bit of road noise but nothing that prevented him sleeping; but if you were a light sleeper it might be worth checking which room you've been allocated.

Evening meal definitely the highlight, great food and nice surroundings
The room was cold when i got there, the radiator had been turned off which is fine because you dont want to heat empty rooms, but if you knew someone was booking in then the heating should have been switched back on prior to my arrival

Colleagues were really attentive and engaging throughout the stay. Colleagues advised of the new winter menu and food choices. Evening meals were exceptional and really tasty the homemade slaters recipe steak and kidney pie is highly recommended along with haddock kedgeree. Thank you again Richard Julie and all colleagues for your kind welcoming hospitality. really looking forward to staying again Richard 😀😀😀😀😀

The rooms are well appointed and very clean. The bed is very comfortable and there was a good selection of tea and coffee and also water - which is often not provided nowadays. The restaurant was great and good excellent with very friendly service.
Check in at the bar was a little hurried and confused as the hotel building was not serviced by staff who knew how to conduct a check in.

Very practical. Off the M6, easy to find. The staff were really friendly, welcoming and looked after us really well. The room was amazing. Instead of a twin room we had a family suite with a twin room and a enormous double room next it to. The bathroom was modern and clean.
It was a bit cold in the room when we arrived but we managed to switch the heater on. The shower was a bit tricky to work out and change the temperature.

Very helpful and friendly staff. The restaurant is a lovely place, food is top notch with good portions. I was impressed in current times that our room was serviced, tea/coffee etc replenished and towels replaced all while we were having breakfast.
Not really a dislike but we had a two bedroom accommodation and whilst fine for us, if there had been someone else in the twin room, perhaps it might have made it inconvenient not to have a wardrobe in the double room.
