Meals taken were excellent. Staff were extremely helpful (eg.: carrying cases, looking up information) and welcoming. The interior environment was attractive and spacious. The hotel was ideally placed for locations of interest to tourists

Perfectly located in the centre of Oakham. Lovely cooked breakfast, with some nice healthy options. Spacious, comfortable room. Huge comfortable bed. Quiet. Excellent food in the restaurant in the evening. Staff were generally friendly, especially the morning team. The place had a lovely old-fashioned atmosphere. It was very pleasant to sit in the bar for afternoon tea.

One of the staff in the evening was a little brusque. This is a minor quibble; after a little conversation, she softened. It was a lovely room (Room 1), but could benefit from thicker curtains. The bathroom could do with a toilet roll holder and a toilet brush. Just minor quibbles, again.

Excellent service. Manager moved his car so we could park in the car park rather than long stay. Very good breakfast.

Blinds didn't do a good job of blocking out the light.

On arrival the staff were very friendly. We'd asked for an early check in, and they pulled out all the stops to have it ready within 10 minutes of arrival. All staff, whether serving us or not, greeted us and were friendly. We were attending a wedding nearby and so asked if they could order us a taxi and they actually rang round to get us our preferred time. The room was quaint and comfortable and plenty of room. The bed was super comfy and everything very clean. We ordered breakfast which was well cooked and very nice. We enjoyed our stay so much that we promised ourselves that we'd return for a full weekend in Oakham and definitely stay here.

The waterfall shower wasn't working but the spray was. Just a minor disappointment

The staff are lovely, very accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable of the local area and facilities nearby. The food in the restaurant is beautiful as is the breakfast and the whole ambience is relaxing.

I stayed here two weeks ago and mentioned that the blind in the room serves no purpose due to its design having see-through horizontal lines, which, whilst aesthetically pleasing is unhelpful on a window that faces a main road with a street lamp that shines through meaning my sleep wasn’t the sleep. I’ve mentioned it again to staff on todays visit and hope this is sorted before I need to stay in the area again as it would be a shame to have to find somewhere different for the sake of a blind which can be easily rectified.

The room is huge and has an olde worlde feel with a lovely cosy pub downstairs with an open fire. Very romantic. Beautiful bathroom with loads of hot water. The food in the restaurant was superb and there is an amazing choice for breakfast which is included in the price.

The mattress was extremely firm - as were the pillows. I like a firm bed, but this is in another league and could do with a mattress topper. The velux windows need proper blinds too - the current ones don't stay in place and let the light in.

The property is beautiful in close proximity to the train station and had a nice homely feel about it

The blind in the bedroom was practically see-through, and with a street light right outside the window. It offered no protection from the light, leaving me with a restless night sleep. The headboard it’s also not a fix to the bed correctly, meaning every time you turned over it bang against the wall. I ended up having to use one of my pillows to prop behind it.

The room was exactly as pictured on the website - very clean and comfortable with a really lovely shower! Staff were very friendly and happy to accommodate some special requests. The breakfast staff were especially helpful as my husband was taking part in a local Triathlon so could not make breakfast. They very kindly made up a breakfast roll, wrapping it in tin foil so that I could take it away with me. He very much appreciated it after the event. In addition, the staff allowed us to retain the room for an additional hour so he could return and shower before we left. All in all a really nice experience.

Although the room was comfortable, the green light on the fire exit sign meant it did not get really dark, which did interrupt our sleep a little bit.
