Everything! Staff and service were excellent from the moment we got there until we left! The deluxe room was beautiful- spotlessly clean with some lovely extras like fresh milk and cake as well as delicious coffee. The food can only be described as amazing, with generous portions served both at breakfast and our evening meal- so much so, there was no room for pudding! The Bluebell was genuinely dog friendly- our dog was made to feel very welcome. I cannot recommend this place highly enough both for quality and value for money! We will definitely go back!

There was nothing to dislike!

Breakfast was exceptionally well cooked on both mornings and served promptly and with a smile. I was made to feel like a valued customer. My room was perfect. I was able to park right outside my door so felt that my vehicle was safe and it was easy for me to unload. I was left with milk in a bottle in the fridge and enough tea and coffee for far longer than I was staying. I was also left water and fresh orange juice in the fridge along with cake and shortbread. Even the hair dryer had a long lead so I could actually look in the mirror when I used it. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a good sized shower with hair and body gel provided. I had lasagne for my first dinner which was home cooked and absolutely delicious and the steak I had on the second evening was cooked (rare) to perfection.

I didn't like having to leave. Could have stayed much longer.

This old pub has such history, which is nicely celebrated by the owners. Its location and connections with the poet John Clare make it a destination for those interested in his life and history. The pub is friendly, and the evening menu is very good, catering for all tastes and delicious.

Sadly the breakfast was disappointing : cheap boxes of cereals, no fresh fruit or yoghurt, and toast of sliced factory bread. My c ooked breakfast was sadly overcooked scrambled egg, but the lady serving appeared to be trying to do it all on her own. A little thought should be given to this by the proprietor as it spoils the overall good impression .

Pleasantly surprised by this pub with rooms, having stayed in similar-looking pubs, similarly priced, that were only so-so. Comfortable, clean and thoughtfully kitted-out room. Very good dinner, chosen from an extensive menu. Breakfast also very good and service excellent. Quiet location but close to where we wanted to go, with good road links. Rooms appear to be all in separate single-storey buildings in the grounds of the pub itself.

Only that the decor of the ensuite shower room appeared a little tired but this is a minor gripe.

Breakfast (full english and egg on toast) was lovely. Small window for breakfast (7:30 - 8:30) so disappointing that we had to get up so early. Cereals didn't come out until later so we missed them. Room was cosy and adequate for one night. however, bed was creaky & uncomfortable. No heating in bathroom. No coat hanging space for clothes. Staff at Bluebell all very friendly.

There wasn't any hanging rail for clothes in room. This could have been achieved by replacing small alcove being used to house book shelves. The radiator in the bathroom did not work.

breakfast and evening meal excellent. Lovely helpfull staff. great parking and presentation. Very helpfull recommending a place to eat, though the food there was not as good as that at the Bluebell. A lovely atmosphere.

The room was less good than when we stayed before. It was smaller but ok. Bathroom excellent. The only ventilation was a skylight and the winder to open and close was missing, along with any means to shut out light. There was a blind fitted but it did not work. AND, like so many B&B, hotels etc, the bed came with a winter weight duvet. Much too warm. We run a B&B and switched to 4.5 tog a month ago, with something to throw over the top if it was too cool. Many guests comment on how much better this arrangement is. (and we are 250 miles north). Shame 'cos it's a lovely place to stay. we will go back but will specify a room next time.

I travelled here and stayed with my dog, check in / out was relaxed and friendly. The rooms are cosy and clean with all necessities available including a mini fridge, tea coffee etc the en suite shower room was clean, smart and user friendly. The bed was also comfy, it was a warm night but they already had a fan plugged in should I need it which I was very grateful for.

The rooms are so lovely and I appreciate as the ceilings go up to the roof that the rafters must be hard to clean - however there were a few cobwebs and extra residents in the room with me

Very nice room - this was separate to the pub with its own entrance - ideal when travelling with a dog. Big comfortable bed, ensuite shower/wet room and small fridge with fresh milk for morning brew. Both evening meal and breakfast were very good and the owner, management and staff were all lovely, friendly and efficient. We stayed The Bluebell as a 'stop off' to break the journey home to East Lancs from holiday on Norfolk coast, would do so again and would recommend The Bluebell to others.

We could have used a little more coffee in our room.

The staff at the Bluebell were very helpful. The breakfast was good. The location was perfect. The room was very warm, perfect for a winter stay!

They’re could have better hanging facilities in our room for storing our clothes. All the room had was a couple of hangers On a couple of coat hooks. I asked for a few more hangers, and none materialised! Only one dressing robe, instead of two. Cobwebs hanging from the ceiling above our beds! Easily removed with a long handled duster if they had bothered! We asked not to be disturbed the first morning of our stay by housekeeping, and we were! All in all very poor communication between staff.

A delightful country pub with rooms in the pretty village of Helpston....convenient for Stamford, Peterborough and the A1. We were a wee bit disappointed that Friday night's menu was just pub grub....but Saturday's chef's specials were well worth waiting for....really moist salmon and guiinea fowl being our choices. The staff are friendly and helpful. We particularly liked the extra warm shower room and the wee fridge with welcoming fresh milk and cake was a toughtful touch.
