Hotel Castleford by Accor

Brilliant from start to finish. On a uni open day with my child and wanted a base out of town and close to links back to home. Didn’t disappoint. Whole experience excellent- cost, style, comfort. Staff were exceptional! Really friendly and kind. We asked for a particular restaurant recommendation and they bent over backwards to find out. Manager just lovely and all staff so sweet and helpful. When we next stay we will be straight back, no hesitation! One negative - a heavy footed guest upstairs 🤣 - 7am Sunday wake up - pretty sure they were doing laps ready for the calories at breakfast- but obviously not the hotels fault! Thank you. Very happy 😃

Never stayed in an Ibis before, so did not know exactly what to expect. Having stayed in one, I'd be happy to have it in my shopping list of places to stay.

There is a lack of signage to highlight the correct entrance to the hotel, so we ended up very nearly in the staff car park at the pub in front. Luckily we'd taken our own soap, shower gel etc, as there was 2 empty containers in our shower room upon arrival. You'd think they would have found some in an unused room? Small issue with a family obviously spread over 2 rooms on the same floor as us, in and out of each other rooms. Not the hotels fault, but maybe they could create a few linked rooms in each hotel.

We arrived, check in was simple and straightforward. We got to our room, it was very modern/industrial style which is what we like. Our bed was so comfortable and the sheets had an amazing thread count. We slept like we were floating on a cloud. Breakfast was great with a choice of continental and cooked English. We did pay extra for this but worth it. We went back to our room for a nap and decided to do a late check-out. Staff members Tracey and Sophie were lovely and accommodated our longer stay.

Location was very close to the motorway and easily found, nothing around if you weren't able to drive somewhere for dinner etc although the restaurant looked fine but we drove elsewhere for dinner and breakfast. Staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and it was a pleasure not meeting a robot behind a desk. We even went into Shakey Wakey (Wakefield) for breakfast and couldn't get over what a lovely wee town it is, definitely worth making the effort to go in there when you're staying, parking was easy and the whole town was having jubilee fun when we were there. Nothing could have been improved upon to be honest, it was such good value for money and for an overnight stay on your way down the motorway I don't think you could find better !

Newly refurbished hotel in a good location just off the M62. The room was clean, spacious and furnished in a contemporary style. The free breakfast options were good too, a good cold continental selection and an excellent traditional cooked full English were available.

The television remote took some getting used to! It took almost a minute from turning on before being able to choose a channel, "please wait". All selections required scrolling through options using arrow keys, there weren't any number buttons for quick channel selection. But once connected and watching a programme it was fine.

The hotel had only been open a week when I stayed, following a refurbishment of half of the rooms (the other half being done now). The room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were all incredibly friendly even the chef who took the time to chat to me when I ate in the restaurant in the evening.

A couple of tiny criticisms - I could hear every movement and almost every word spoken from the people staying in the room above me which kept me awake until the early hours, sound insulation between floors is not great. The rooms don’t have aircon, so I had the windows open as it was a very warm day/evening. The hotel is situated very near to a major road so the traffic noise was quite loud particularly when large lorries went past.

It was convenient to get to and to get to places from. The public rooms and our room were spotlessly clean and pleasantly furnished with a very comfortable bed as well. The staff made the experience so much better. The lady at the reception was always smiling and we felt we could have asked for anything and she would have been happy to help. We got down to breakfast a tad later than we should but the Chef, Shaun was still happy to cook us a breakfast which was much appreciated. There is always plenty of parking and we had a very enjoyable time there.

The location was perfect for where I needed this to be as was travelling for a driving course at viamamater a few minutes away. Due to this and timing the staff also let us have an extra half an hour on departure day to ensure I had time to gather my luggage

I didn’t like how the reception desk was in a side room and not at a desk to stand at as was confusing who had already been seen by staff or just waiting. However wasn’t so bad when arriving later

Really nice decoration in the rooms, I’ve been to much more expensive hotels with a much worse feeling and decoration inside the rooms. Mattress was really comfy and bed overall was like sleeping in a cloud. Staff were lovely and helpful too, straight to the point and didn’t moider on like some people do. Amazing room for the money.

Pillows were a bit too big a puffy for our liking. Was a bit hard to find but not sure if that was our satnav or all in general

Greeted by very friendly staff after arriving late into the night. Booking it said check in was only 15:00 to 22:00, after phoning and explaining that I would be arriving after 22:00 as i'd be arriving after a festival I was told check in is any time as the reception is 24/7.

The room was very nice and spacious, the bed was super comfy however the water pressure in the shower wasn't great. I'd have given the room 10/10 as it not for the shower, so for this I've given it 9/10.
