Pleasant pool, steam room and sauna. Also had gym which we didn’t use. Lovely spa with well priced treatments. Comfortable beds. Restaurant served good quality food and dinner was excellent. Fresh milk and ice available on landing. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Barrier to get into car park seemed unnecessary. Bedroom was dated with shabby furniture and lacked the touches expected for a four star hotel - only basic body wash, no shampoo, conditioner or shower cap. Breakfast was adequate, but not much choice - no cheese, no cold meats, only sliced bread. Disappointing if your preference is for a continental breakfast. Plenty of cereals and traditional English cooked breakfast available, however.

Hotel was very nice on the first floor where we stayed in room number one there was ice machine and fridge with milk which we could use room was nice and clean nicely decorated.will definetly comeback to check how other rooms with a balcony on a separate wing will lool like. As a first impression (thats to the owners) proper reception counter will be much more presentative when first walk in.

The only downfall I could think of was that we had room very close to the wedding venue so we had some loud music playing till 12:30 but in the end of the day as a couple we didnt come here only to sleep so it didn't bother us too much, but for someone that comes for a rest I suggest asking for room far away from first floor.

Absolutely loved it ...the beautiful smell when you walk into the hotel and all around the hotel was my favourite thing it was so nice. The hotel is lovely , it's clean and I loved the spa area. Two beautiful warm beds near the pool. ..I fell asleep on one and heard myself snore he he ,it was relaxing ,well decorated and just really nice A good gym ...nice carpets and different areas around the hotel that were Interesting. Beautiful gardens ,we didn't venture out because it was too cold The bedroom was warm and cosy and had everything we needed although it was a little bit small The toilet /bathroom was very small also ...not a problem though because it was such a good deal .you have the option of upgrading but we were quite happy to I loved the crushed ice machine in the corridor and water machine ...also a fridge with proper milk not those horrible sachets ..a beautiful hotel for a party or special occasion The staff were very friendly and helpful .I would definitely return to this venue.. We didn't have breakfast or eat in but we went to a local curry house just down the road , which was quite nice .

My first room had a very unpleasant bleach smell - I reported it to reception and the staff were apologetic and efficiently moved me to a different room. My new room was very nice and the bathroom /shower area was bright and clean. I used the pool and sauna. Both were quiet and I enjoyed the time spent chilling out there. Had a beautiful dinner in the evening. The restaurant has a lovely feel to it and I was seated in the observatory (I think that's what it was called). All the staff were very friendly and attentive. I ate the chicken with a mushroom and tarragon sauce - it honestly was perfection. The lovely staff member recommended the blackcurrant cheesecake and again, very good choice. I ended the day by sleeping on a very comfortable bed.

The first room should not have been offered in the first place - it was such a strong smell! I'd have liked instructions on how to use the coffee machine and speakers in the room (lovely touch but not so if you've never used them before).

we had a warm welcome on arrival, all staff went above and beyond expectations for our 3rd wedding anniversary. We fully appreciated the small complimentary anniversary wish ( happy anniversary written in chocolate sauce on a plate with 2 small slices of cake) The hospitality we received was brilliant, we have no complaints where the food is concerned. We fully enjoyed taking time to enjoy rest and relaxation in the leisure facilities. We enjoyed sitting in the gardens and enjoying the scenery with a cup of tea. Our room was very comfortable, clean and tidy. All staff were very approachable throughout our stay. We enjoyed our stay so much so we are planning more visits in the near future. I enjoyed a brow treatment, which was really relaxing. The Spa staff were very polite and helpful.

Didn't like leaving to go home.

I stayed one night and arrived shortly before my dinner booking after a very very long drive. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. I had dinner in the restaurant which was tasty and good value for money. Breakfast was also very good - buffet style with everything you could want. The room was clean, well appointed and perfectly adequate. There are no amenities (other than shampoo and conditioner in dispensers in the shower). There is no airconditioning so the room got a bit stuffy as it was a warm night. Had I not been so tired on arrival I'd have spotted a plug in fan in the wardrobe... The car park is monitored with security barriers and the location is very close to the M6 from either the north or south and makes an ideal overnight stop en route to or from Scotland to the South. The spa facilities looked good - I did use the pool and steam room early morning before I set off on the next leg of my journey and both were good. All in all a nice place to stay and more personal than the big branded hotels.

Nothing - I thought this was a really nice, comfortable, clean, welcoming hotel.

The facilities were very good and i enjoyed my stay . However on the booking confirmation my room was described as a luxury king size room . My friends paid £30 less for a standard double room which had air conditioning , a fridge containing fresh milk, more chairs and the same sized ( standard double) bed as mine . The same thing happened with the apartment i booked in spain recently. So it seems if you book with booking.com the standard you get is less and you pay more. Maybe booking .com should look into this ?

You get better value for money if you book through a different 3rd party.

I was happy about every thing that I received at Barton. The bed was excellent. Sometimes I struggle to sleep on a bed that I’m not used to, but this did not feel like that at all. The room was very clean and neat. We had everything at our disposal. Breakfast was very good with staff assisting all the time. Oohh, the Spa, I really enjoyed myself. Walking distance to Crabtree narrow canal and plants place. I loved it

On the first day, we checked in a few minutes to 10pm due to an accident on the road but the restaurant was already closed and most of the food places around, were also closed. We had to go and eat McDonalds. Maybe look at extending or making provision for late check-ins.

I loved the room, the coffee machine was a nice touch and the fresh milk and ice machine idea is fab. The bath in the room was amazing and made my stay very relaxing and luxurious, thankyou

I do feel a few more loungers in the spa would be beneficial, I didn't spend much time there as I felt a little uncomfortable sat at the table and chairs. I did also feel a little rushed by cleaning staff to vacate my room. Staff entered and then further knocked a good 30 mins before check out time.

Rooms are lovely, especially like the ice machine and milk in corridor. Breakfast was lovely. We didn't have dinner but have previously and it was fantastic. We will be coming back.

The one thing that put us off this time was the smell in the hotel, it was a sewage smell that was being masked by heavy perfume which i think was in the air conditioning, very overpowering. It was the first time we have experienced this and I am presuming it may be something to do with the newbuild that is happening. It would not stop us coming again.
