We got upgraded due to a very loud noise coming from the radiators that could be heard from the reception desk. The room we were originally in was a little outdated but still nice and a big size, the room we were upgraded too was slightly more modern but still dated. However the bed was massive and very comfortable. The shower/bathroom was nice and big and the shower was a good strength.
The tiles in the bathroom were very slippy. We didn’t have a kettle in the upgraded room, only a coffee machine and bottled water. As 2 non coffee drinkers the kettle and tea station would have been better.

Value for money is extremely good and I don’t feel other reviews have taken this into account Nice bar and restaurant Phone in the room (and a mini fridge we requested) Great communication about the stay The new manager has definitely made improvements since my last review (7/10) back in April 2024. New manager (Victoria W) explained she took over at the start the year and has clearly made changes for the better since then. We will definitely stay again
Not sure the 6.9 current review is correct. Does this need updating by BDC ?

It’s very close to the motorway and has safe free parking. There’s a wee service type station next to the hotel. Quiet location. We arrived too late to eat this stay but have used the restaurant before and the food was good. The staff are lovely. It’s quite old fashioned and a little tired but nothing that’s not to like. For the price it’s good and better than a travel lodge or motorway service station hotel. The rooms are a good size. Most have bath and separate shower. It’s pretty quiet and we slept well. There is Elemis toiletries.

Although the hotel was chock full due to a large coach party on their way to Scotland, the staff looked after us well. Warm welcome at reception, help with our bags. We could only eat in the evening after the coach party, but this was nicely explained and it was not late and we were quite happy with a drink in the bar while we waited. Excellent breakfast. My brother stayed here several years ago and said it was bit tired, but it has become a chain hotel since and clearly been smartened up. Would choose it again.
We checked in quite late, and got a room right at the end of the corridor. Terrible view of flat roof and air conditioning cabinets, but we went out to see the river view from the terrace at breakfast time.

The room was clean spacious and very quiet I had a lovely nights sleep. The attached steakhouse restaurant was lovely to visit and had some lovely options, I myself partook in the monfish scampi and a battered haddok fish dinner. Breakfast was a nice affair as well , all self service with excellent continental and hot food options. Lots of tables to pick from for a nice view with the morning coffee.
Reception in the area is a little difficult but the wifi from the hotel is more than capable for getting e-mails and such.

That it was in a pleasant position despite being so close to the motorway. The room was massive & it had a walk in shower as well as a bath. The reception staff were extremely helpful.
I was unsettled & aware of the low hum of traffic noise, but that may be because we live in a very quiet spot. There wasn’t a lift to the bedroom storey, but I managed the stairs despite some arthritic problems. It would have helped to have known the ‘last orders’ time for breakfast. There was no notice of this in the bedroom, & we missed the cooked breakfast as a result.

The hotel was warm and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean, and tidy, the bed was comfortable, added extra of there being an armchair, rather than having to sit on the bed to watch TV or have a coffee. When we went down for breakfast, we were treated by polite helpful staff who took us to the dining room and showed us to a table. There were options of a continental breakfast and a cooked breakfast. Orange and apple juice, fruit, yoghurts, pastries. All in all, it was a delight to stay at the hotel. Also, we liked that on our corridor, there were sparkling and still water taps for guests to help themselves, I felt this was a great idea. The view of the river and fields from our room were lovely and can imagine very picturesque in nicer weather.
The only one fault was the shower, even at its hottest temperature, it was still luke warm, kept going hot and cold, no other faults during our stay

The meals prepared at this hotel are by a chef and are freshly cooked. The menu was excellent both at night and at breakfast. This hotel deserves praise for the standard of meals served throughout the day. I suggest we support hotels like this that prepare meals and not the "ding" meals of some places.
The rooms are ok but the main concern is the exterior appearance of the hotel. It was unlit with no exterior lights on and the entrance was quite difficult to see.

Stopover for north so really convenient from motorway Room comfortable. Sheets clean and bed really comfy Bar area pleasant and bar snacks okay (restaurant being used for Xmas party)
Room over main entrance (205) and Xmas party going on so plenty smokers outside until late and noisy (not hotels fault) Only one towel(easily rectified), chewing gum on side lamp stand so not sure room cleaned that well. Tv remote only activated odd numbered channels!!

The room was lovely, clean and had a good view. The staff were helpful and friendly.
Pricing differences. I booked a none refundable room for £69 which didn't include breakfast, my friends had booked a refundable room including breakfast for £99. 2 days before our booking one of them noticed that the same room was on offer for £65 including breakfast, they cancelled and rebooked at the cheaper rate whereas I had to add breakfast on to my room for an extra £16. So I could have breakfast with them.
