The hotel was absolutely stunning and very special. We are history fans , so it was a real treat to stay here . The hotel location was fantastic and near to lots of places we wanted to visit . The owners and staff were so friendly and very attentive. Overall we were made feel so welcome and relaxed .

Saying I didn’t like something would be too strong , just it was a shame the restaurant part wasn’t open in full , we could have breakfast but no dinner or lunch daily , except lunch on Sunday . Also the bar wasn’t open regularly. Opened if there were guests around , I understand but seemed a little odd . We understand the restaurant part is waiting a licence and will be fully available soon . There were two very local pub restaurants just yards away from The Crown , that were fantastic and many places just minutes away in a car , so we had lots of great options .

There was nothing we didn’t like about this property. Walking from the car park into the courtyard, you walked into a medieval world of fantastic proportions. The courtyard was a beautiful garden where you could sit in peace. Moving into the main building was just as breathtaking. 14th century reception room with high, beamed ceiling and a dual staircase leading to modern bedrooms. Our bedroom overlooked the courtyard and we were visited every morning by white doves on the window sill. The room was cleaned perfectly every day and the en-suite shower room was perfect. On arrival we were warned that, due to the age of the house we might experience some issues with the plumbing but this never happened during our stay. We were booked for bed and breakfast. The breakfast was served in the bar room. Always freshly cooked and a god menu to choose from. The location of the hotel was perfect for touring the Cotswolds. Most places of interest were within an hours drive of the hotel, many much less. The hotel is family run by one of the nicest families I have ever met. Andrew, Ann and Will were such great hosts, full of stories about the history of the hotel and suggestions about places to visit. One of the highlights of the visit was sitting in the bar at night talking to Andrew and Will and playing with Bertie the Labrador. Day to day cleaning was done by Chris, a wonderful lady. In short, I cannot praise this establishment enough. Health willing I would love to make a return visit. I certainly recommend the Crown to anyone.

Nothing. I can’t praise the establishment enough.

We both absolutely loved our stay at The Crown. It was fantastic from start to finish. The staff were friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. We stayed in the Ascot Room which was perfect for what we needed. It had an en-suite and tea/coffee making facilities. Breakfast was superb with plenty of choice and the service was quick. The restaurant was not open during our stay but this did not affect our visit as there’s still plenty of choice in the area. The bar however was open and served drinks till late both nights. We would 100% stay again and hope to do so in the near future!

Everything was fantastic

Very welcoming. Beautiful building; staying in a place with history is exciting. Breakfast was exceptional. Lovely owners who were engaging and couldn’t do enough. Felt like we were staying in their home, in a very nice way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Owners have had it for a year so it’s a work in progress. They are doing it with love and care. Our shower was a bit of a trickle and was cold the first night but to be honest it’s an old building and we weren’t going to be put off by that. Temperature of water was quickly resolved and it didn’t detract from our stay.

The hotel still has all its original features. It's a very unique hotel and definitely worth a visit. Very comfortable rooms and bed. We stayed in the Chapel room, it was where the Monks prayed, a lovely room with lots of features. Food was excellent, freshly cooked with local products. Its a family run hotel, the owners and their team made our stay a very special one. The whole stay was amazing. Location was excellent to travel around the Cotswolds. What a lovely Cotswolds hotel. Thank you to all at The Crown for welcoming us into your lovely hotel.

The service at breakfast was slow and we were not offered any cereal or fruit and given cups of coffee instead of having a pot which meant it was not very hot. No toast was offered and it seemed that they just wanted us to leave as soon as possible. Did not like to ask for other items as it was not mentioned on their paper menu so if that is all that is offered it is not good value for money compared with all the other bed and breakfast destinations we stayed at.

Nice position, although on the main road but obviously this was the address. Park opposite and when we asked for places to take our dog for a walk we were well advised. Bed was very comfortable. No restaurant there but were directed to one just up the road.

A lovely pub with accommodation to match. Friendly owners and staff who couldn't do enough to make our stay delightful. Excellent breakfast choice, freshly cooked and served with attention to detail.

There was nothing we didn't like but unfortunately the dining room was closed for dinner. Not really a problem as 4 miles to Burford and plenty of places to eat or two very good pubs within walking distance of the Crown. We opted for the latter in order to enjoy a drink in the characterful bar at the Crown and soak up the atmosphere of the delicious courtyard.

Fantastic restored period property in a beautiful village location. Anne Marie & Andrew were charming hosts & we really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were spacious with a super comfortable kingsize bed & beautifully furnished, good size bathroom with shower over the bath, everything we needed.Lovely little courtyard garden too. Breakfast was everything you could wish for & more ! The fresh fruit salad was delicious as was everything else on the menu, freshly cooked to order. The tea & coffee were good too. Would definitely like to return.

Absolutely stunning inn with over 500 years of history. We requested a room with a bath, which was luxurious and deep. The bed was fabulously comfortable and the room very spacious. Apparently Queen Elizabeth I used this building as her hunting lodge for a time before it was returned to private ownership. The innkeepers are lovely and very helpful--this is clearly a labor of love. Our dog also really enjoyed the stay. We'll definitely be back!

Breakfast service was a little slow, though it was delicious.

The location was excellent as were the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was superb and the building was a delight. Well worth a visit and stay. Highly recommended. We will return.

The entrance in and out of the property by car is somewhat dangerous, as it is on a blind bend and motorists do not appear to observe the 20mph speed limit. A mirror would be advantageous although this is nothing to do with the Hotel, more of a local authority issue probably
