This is a beautiful location, with all village amenities including a central pond, and large garden centre with market garden/cafe. Although not a full cooked breakfast, we really enjoyed a continental: boiled egg/s, ham, cheese, toast, cereals, juice and hot drinks. The staff were brilliant, from our cheery initial welcome, to very warm and friendly chat in the morning. THANK YOU for sharing your local knowledge, in particular regarding a local road closure, and for letting us use your secure storage for our bicycles. It was an ideal stop for our 'Way of Roses' bicycle tour. There is a large outdoor area with TV screen, so ideal to watch large sporting events, or just to watch the sun go down.

Our room (upstairs) was very clean and comfortable, but a little dated, however this was reflected in the reasonable price. The hotel is undergoing a full refurbishment of rooms, with many already completed (downstairs).

What a little gem this was. I was totally taken aback, only because it is a pub, and it was really reasonably priced which my experience tells me not to expect too much. But how wrong I was, the staff were lovely, the pub was surprisingly big and really nice..... but the best bit...... the food was delicious and of a really high standard, the menu was really good and the food was reasonably priced too which made it even better. Would definitely book again if I was in the area.

The room was a really good size, however the bathroom was quite pokey, and for a 6ft 1 big lump, it was a squeeze getting into the loo, and the shower was quite tight too. The bed was quite hard, but my biggest gripe was that I was there on the hottest day of the year so far, and could really have done with a fan or something to cool the room slightly.

Arrived to check in around 7pm. I had to go into the bar area and it was very loud and busy. The girl who I checked in with was very good, took me to my room and arranged for me to have a sandwich (which is usually only served at lunch). As I was having to leave the hotel 2 hours before breakfast served she organised me some milk, a packet of cereal, a small bottle of orange and some fruit for my breakfast. I thought this was going the extra mile! Bed was comfy and the towels were really white and fluffy.

The TV would not work and I was unable to get it working.

The room was lovely - so clean and comfortable and very well laid out indeed. I really enjoyed my stay in that regard. All the staff are so nice. The food was very good, too.

A thicker curtain would’ve stopped me waking up at sunrise… the food was really nice, which given that it’s basically a village pub with a public bar was actually a bit of a surprise. It is NOT a gastropub: it isn’t a restaurant or dining room as such. It’s a local pub. It was quite a strange mix, the room bit and the food bit. But I did like it!

Lovely village location, comfortable, clean rooms, good food, very friendly, helpful staff

The TV in my room did not work for most of my 2 night stay. I alerted the staff to the problem asap and two staff members tried to fix it unsuccessfully so I was left with no TV/RADIO which was irritating. At checkout on my departure day I reported the problem to a third staff member who said she would report it to management later.

Basic accommodation, stayed one night with my 10 month old little girl as an emergency last minute. They were very accommodating, lovely continental breakfast. All priced accordingly. Stayed on a Saturday night and expected to find it noisy with the pub underneath us, but it was surprisingly quiet!

I did request a cot when booking for my little girl, there wasn’t one in the room but wasn’t a huge issue as she just shared the double bed with me. Assume this was because I booked so last minute!

Repeat visitor so must be satisfied with the property. The surfacing of the car park was most welcome.

The only flies in the ointment are beyond the control of the White Horse. The poor standard of other guests parking was a constant irritation. As was the lack of consideration shown regarding late night noise.

Very helpful and cheerful staff indeed. Modern and comfortable king room on the ground floor. The bed was comfy. I particularly appreciated the thought behind additional fittings such as the illuminated mirror above the dressing table and the magnifying mirror in the bathroom, both very useful for doing make-up and hair before my work meeting. Dinner in the evening was tasty and well presented with a good selection of veg. Breakfast was fine, eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, toast, ham and cheese, cereal etc. Helpful staff again in the breakfast area.

Unfortunately our room (10) was next to the night access door for residents. We were woken at 5.30 and 6am by people slamming the door. Naturally this is not the fault of the hotel/pub, just bad luck.

Continental breakfast was free and was much more than I expected. Perfect for onward or return travel, a really refreshing amount of choice for a free meal. The new rooms on the ground floor are stunning. Sky in the room, and the showers are incredible. Best I’ve ever seen in a hotel. Staff were lovely and friendly, village is picturesque and quiet with a Spar next door if needed. Would love to have a reason to stay here again

Honestly for the price, nothing. Personally the pillows were a bit too soft, but I’m being very picky there

Lovely country pub in a quiet village but close to the nearest town. The rooms are in a newly built extension so are very up to date and stylish with lovely bathrooms and in our room at least a king bed. We also dined there in their very busy bar and restaurant. Lots of activity with a mix of locals and visitors in a very smart bar area. The food is very good 'pub grub' and their steak pie was epic- highly recommended. But the great thing was the friendly and attentive staff who worked really hard despite how busy it was. Great place and would happily stay here again.

Not an issue for us as we left too early, but the breakfast was continental and we might have missed a cooked one had we been able to. Particular shame as their evening food was so good.
