The room offered us a great view of the seafront. The bed was very comfortable, and there was ample storage space for our clothes etc. Breakfast was wonderful with a large choice of English breakfast and Continental breakfast items. Dinner with an allowance of £30 per person per day was mostly very nice, indeed on our wedding anniversary at the hotel, we were able to include a bottle of Moet Chandon for just £21 by using up our unused allowance for that day. Location was brilliant, as we were close to the Seaburn beach area, which is very nice with a couple of welcoming public houses and fish and chip restaurants.. On our return home, I found that I'd left a couple of toothbrush chargers and a hat in the room. A quick phone call to the reception, and the girl who answered arranged to have them returned to me by recorded delivery, the parcel arrived the following day. I was most impressed.

The noise outside in the evenings when people were congregating for wedding celebrations etc. was a little off putting, but although there were a lot of very drunk people there, nothing nasty happened, and all was quiet by the time we went to bed. The triple cooked chips were VERY overcooked in the second part of our week, but not so much they spoiled my enjoyment of the meals.

The location was amazing! It was my 40th birthday, and we were long due for a break, so our choice of going to Sunderland came out perfect with our stay at Roker Hotel. Roker beach was less than a 10 minutes walk, and we had a myriad of options for places to eat and drink. The hotel also had a lovely bar and restaurant, but we only ate once and got drinks twice there. There is no particular reason for this, as we were just a bit up and about during our stay. The staff were very nice and pleasant, always willing help. We'd definitely stay at Roker Hotel again...

Hmmm... this is a tricky one, but I think the only thing we didn't like was our first room. We had booked a standard room because we couldn't tell the difference in room options from the pictures provided on the booking.com website. Our initial pick was very hidden and small! It would have been perfect for one person in need of some privacy - maybe a writer? It definitely wasn't for us, so we had to change our room after the first 2 nights.

The accommodations at the Roker Hotel were simply outstanding. My room was spacious, impeccably clean, and elegantly decorated. The comfortable bed and modern amenities provided everything I needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The attention to detail was evident, and it was clear that the staff takes great pride in ensuring the highest level of comfort for their guests. What truly stood out during my stay was the exceptional service provided by Stephen and the entire team. Stephen went above and beyond to make sure that every aspect of my stay was perfect. His attentiveness, genuine care, and willingness to accommodate any request made me feel like a valued guest. It's rare to encounter someone so dedicated to ensuring a memorable experience, and Stephen's efforts truly made my stay at the Roker Hotel remarkable. The hotel's facilities and amenities were equally impressive. The on-site dining options were a culinary delight, with a diverse menu that catered to a range of tastes. The quality of the food and the attentive service added an extra layer of enjoyment to my stay. Additionally, the hotel's location by the sea provided stunning views and the opportunity for leisurely walks along the shore – a perfect way to unwind and take in the beauty of the surroundings.

The Tub could be a bit slippery if not careful.

The location is fab, the staff were reserved and polite, the room was clean and comfy. We love this hotel.

The room we got was a good walk at the far end of the hotel in what felt like a basement. You could see the sea through the window (just) in between the cars which were at eye level as you stood looking out of the window. We had paid for a budget room. The most frustrating was the weakness of the WiFi signal in a room which struggled to receive a data connection with my phone provider O2. It was understandable as it was at the far end of the hotel in the basement, but it wouldn't be hard to fit a repeater box for the WiFi to increase its strength. Still love this place!

When we arrived we checked in early. When we went to the room there was a smell like the drains were blocked. The remote for the TV wasn't working either. I went to reception to report this and the hotel staff were brilliant. There was a knock at the door with a complimentary upgrade for the smell in the room. We were put in a suite which was excellent.

The staff had not updated the system so we and the cleaning staff got a shock when they tried to enter the room the next morning. The room was supposed to be empty however we were moved into there and the system was updated the next day, which to be fair the cleaner was not to know. This was cleared up quickly.

It was unbelievable,sea was 100m away ,we were upgraded to the bridal suite,i believe because i was on crutches in such a high pain level as i am waiting for an operation.we were given a jaccuzzi bath which was a godsend as i only have a shower.i cant portray what this night away did for my physical wellbeing and my mental stability.i have been on crutches in pain for a year but the roker lifted me,dusted me off and wiped away the last few months. Thanks to all at the Roker,i will be back.

I couldnt fault the Roker,as soon as the guy on reception saw my crutches,he pulled all the stops to make me comfortable in every way possible.

Janine, James and all the staff we encountered were wonderful to converse with. Helpful and informative about local attractions. Accommodating in booking transport. James went above and beyond to bring drinks to our room. Even the new bar staff, he wanted to be precise and get the cocktails right so asked for help and James helped him. He was apologetic for it being his 1st day but that didn't matter to me he was lovely. The only alarming thing was the crowd of people outside and in the hotel foyer due to an amateur boxing event. It took a while to get through the rowdy crowd and being stopped from going up to our rooms was jarring. The hotel is lovely, the breakfast room/tea room was warm and comfortable, decor was beautiful. The bar was cosy and comfortable too. The restaurant served immaculate meals. The service was slow due to a wedding but Carrie did a great job.

The boxing event crowds that scared us a little. The shouting and arguing and being accosted and stopped from going to our room.

The room was huge. Bed super comfy.Bathroom lovely and really clean. Liked that there was a good bar on site that served meals. Overlooks the sea, Roker beach. Bus stop just outside. We caught the bus to South shields one day. We can't wait to stay again.

Breakfast was served too early for us. We thought the in house cafe would maybe do a later one it was 1130 and they'd stopped. Across the road and down the slope left to the beach Grannie Annies saved the day. Lovely brecky served til 12. Great spot for food and beer. Good atmosphere.

The choice of restaurants in the hotel as well as a good bar and plenty of parking were all good. The room was a good size with a lovely view straight out to sea.

Being a Coeliac, I was not happy with the breakfast. Items contain gluten were in the same server as non gluten but there was only one set of tongs to use for each server. I asked the staff what I could eat and they asked the chef who said hash browns were the only things, even though bacon eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms are naturally gluten free. Chefs should be taught about food and about food allergies and issues. A good chef would have asked what they could do for me.

Being able to sit in the chair in the window looking out over the sea and being able to walk across the road to get to the seafront make the location of this hotel very desirable. The huge bed was wonderfully comfortable. The public areas were also beautifully styled.

Whilst attention had been given to the nautical style of the room and the furnishings, the general condition of the decor was tired and poorly maintained and dusty, although this didn't affect the function of the room. There was one chair in the window but the room was booked for two of us.
