Our breakfasts were amazing,very plentiful and good choices,very tasty and filled us up for the day. There was fruit juices,endless coffee and tea, porridge was cooked to perfection, and the breakfast table itself was laid out beautifully.

There was nothing that needed improvement for us.

The property is a lovely 10 minute walk to the seafront. Breakfast really was amazing, but above all else, Mark and Sharon are exceptional hosts. You really feel like you are valued and much more than just a customer. Little touches like your initial on your breakfast, chocolates at night and a little goodie bag for the road were great touches too. Also, the shower was very powerful and nice and warm.

A plug socket by the mirror would have been helpful, but that really is about it.

We booked short notice and we were blown away with how nice the experience was at this bnb. Nicely decorated. Very clean and tidy. Lovely and attentive hosts (Mark and Sharon). Best breakfast, really set us up for the day. Very happy with the vegan and vegetarian options. Honestly one of the best bnbs I have ever stayed in and hope to return for longer in future. Completely unexpected goodie bad when we left with water and snacks. Also a specific towel for removing make up was a perfect and unexpected touch that places should do more.

Sharon & Mark were very friendly nothing was too much trouble very welcoming and very professional. Great knowledge of the area. The hous and room was very welcoming the room was very comfortable and had everything you needed. The breakfast was very good quality and Mark was an excellent cook. On leaving they gave a goodie bag for our travel home wich was very thoughtful. I would highly recommend Melba House if need somewhere to stay in Torquay lovely location and a short walk from the beach and all facilities.

Couldn't fault

A very comfortable and well appointed hotel just ten minutes walk from the seafront (handy for pre-breakfast swims!!). The hosts were very attentive and generous in providing snacks, and breakfast was very efficient. I liked being able to get my own coffee, cereal and toast, while the hot food was pre-cooked to order and so ready instantly.

Being a single, it was inevitably a very small room - just enough room for a bed and chest of drawers. There being a bit of a heatwave, it got rather stifling. But the hosts provided a very efficient fan, and the room was also utterly quiet - no extraneous noise of any kind and no noise from other rooms, which is rare in B&Bs.

Fantastic breakfasts especially the poached eggs! Sharon and Mark were very attentive and obliging-lovely couple-great hosts. Loved the little gifts on our return from being out during the day, and the lunch pack for our homeward journey:-great touch thank you both.

Just one thing could have made it better and that would be to have had evening meals - I bet that too would have been wonderful or perhaps the occasional Bar-B-Q? - as most of the places in Torquay were often fully booked for meals. (Although we had been warned about this by our hosts when booking)

If you want to experience what first class service feels like, then this is the place for you. This very nice "bed and breakfast accommodation" has been lovingly decorated by its owners Sharon and Mark and is full of lovely little touches. Many of the small artworks depict the themes that make Torquay and the surrounding towns so lovely. They have thought of everything that makes a holiday more enjoyable. Does the word perfect describe the breakfast? Not really, it's perfect and as if your every wish would come true. I don't have a direct comparison to the other hotels, but you can't do better than Sharon and Mark. A very fair price, and with a bit of luck a parking space in front of the door.

We stayed at the Melba House as as last minute stop gap whilst on our way to Cornwall for the week. This was by far one of the friendliest and welcoming B&B’s we have stayed in. From the time we arrived, Sharon & Mark were so friendly and helpful with advice on places to go locally. The B&B itself was immaculately clean and the towels and bedding were of excellent quality. The bed that was so comfortable we didn’t want to get up! The breakfast was the tastiest we’ve had in a long time from the beautifully prepared muesli to the tasty well presented cooked breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they could not have done any more or made us feel more welcome. From the chocolate goodies left on our door to the travel snack bag as we were leaving was also a lovely touch. Looking forward to staying again very soon.

Sharon and Mark are excellent hosts. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are very clean and the beds are really comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, pre-ordered and cooked to perfection. Sharon and Mark are also really helpful when it comes to explaining what is available locally, recommending places to see and eat.

The accommodation was spotless. The bedroom and shower room we’re both decorated to a high standard. The window had blinds as well as curtains. Tea and coffee facilities included milk and water in a fridge. The breakfast room was light and the tables were set beautifully. There was parking at the front. The stairs were well lit when we came in late in the evening.

There was nothing we didn’t like.
