The hospitality is unrivalled - the warmest welcome from the host as we parked up. Came straight over, introduced himself & made us feel right at home. It was lovely to have a little chat rather than just be handed the keys. Gave us great advice on taxis and about the venue where we were due to be attending a wedding. The room was cosy, cute & clean - has a very homely feel to it. The bed was comfy too. Perfect for a couple of group of mates looking for somewhere affordable to stay within a beautiful location. Great bar just below too, yet still a quiet & peaceful stay. Even when we were leaving, as it was a really hot day, the host came out to us with bottles of water as we were packing the car & asked if we needed any help or anything. Amazing host! Will definitely be staying again & recommending!

Nicely refurbished room with good sized and comfortable bed; high standard of furnishings . Light, bright and roomy. Good en-suite with shower and toiletries, very clean. Pub downstairs being well used but not noisy, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast advertised as a continental. What a revelation..... So much choice:meats, cheeses, cereal,fruit,yoghurts, bread, croissant, crumpets, jams, marmalade, juices, teas and coffees as well as poached eggs and baked beans - I've probably missed something but as good as I've been offered in international brands.

Car parking is a bit of a pain but if the pub car park is full, you can find something within a very short walk.

Arrived lunchtime Saturday for a Saturday night stay and was very welcomed by Nigel to put our things in the room, which was great and 3 hours earlier than expected. The room was clean and tidy, and the bed was super comfy. Great shower in the ensuite, too. Will definitely be booking again. Nigel, who showed us to our room, was so helpful and found out the train times for us so we could plan our journeys with ease. Many thanks, Nigel. The lady at breakfast was friendly and helpful and showed us all that was on offer, which was ample and included cereals, pastries, cold meats, and cheeses, and we also had the option of cooking some poached eggs and baked beans, which was a pleasant surprise. Thankyou to her. Great little pub downstairs was excellent and had Sky sports on TV and was home to a pool table and Dart board. Local clientele seemed friendly and we enjoyed a couple of drinks before we headed off on our travels. Thanks to all at The Rifle Volunteer

Only 1 cup in the room for tea coffee . Probably was just an oversight.Maybe a set of curtains would be good just to preserve the darkness a little longer.

it was convenient, near my family’s home and warm and comfortable.

The last night I stayed the heating had been turned down and I was very cold overnight but I told the landlord and he was v apologetic. I just had to sleep in a lot of extra clothing. And the shower was a bit ropey and I couldn’t get a even constant temperature. it was either dangerously scalding hot or freezing cold. there were no staff around over Christmas so I was unable to report the problem until my last day and the landlord said he would get a plumber in to service it.

Everything was ready and spotlessly clean on arrival. The bed was very comfortable. Continental breakfast only available but a good selection with some items you can heat yourself e.g. beans. Nigel is a good host and a nice guy, and the staff are welcoming. The cleaners do a thoroughly good job. This is a pub. They only do pizza as food in the pub itself but it is lovely traditional pub with no frills and not far from the various restaurants in Ware.

The continental breakfast was very good. The location was perfect for a Wedding I attended at Marriott Hanbury Manor (only 1.1 miles away) and the manager very kindly drove me to Hanbury Manor this morning, Sunday 28th May, to collect my car which saved me booking a taxi.

The mirror in the bedroom wasn't near the double socket to see when drying my hair but I should have packed a mirror.

Great continental breakfast that also included poached eggs. Nice selection of of fresh juice, cereals and tea and coffee plus cheese and meat - first class. The staff couldn't be nice, from the bar to breakfast and the cleaning staff - a credit to the company. I stayed for 5 weeks in total from Monday to Friday and couldn't fault anything. Thank you for everything 😊

The location for us was fine because we were attending a family funeral. The breakfast was excellent. The selection far exceeded my expectations.

We knew we were staying at just a small public house. The only extra l would suggest is to have some liquid soap in the shower. I had mine but my son in the other room had forgotten to bring his. There was nothing l didn’t like.

The location was ideal for my needs whilst cycle touring. The early D-I-Y breakfast was great for getting an early start. I felt that I got good value for money. Having a pizza meal available on a Sunday evening saved me from looking elsewhere for food. The staff provided good bike storage too.

The plumbing was a bit noisy!

The staff where brilliant allowed early check in .we stayed for dad's funeral, the owner opened up the bar so we could have a drink before the wake, the bar staff at night were pleasant and didn't rush us to leave at night very helpful would definitely stay again great job guys x
