We recently had the great pleasure of staying at the Museum Inn, and I can honestly say it was an experience that exceeded all our expectations. From the moment I arrived, Mel and Paolo made us feel like I was part of the family. Their warm welcome and genuine hospitality set the tone for a truly memorable weekend. The rooms were not only beautifully decorated but also incredibly comfortable and peaceful. And then there’s the food. Oh, the food! This is a hidden gem. The menu had an array of dishes that you’d expect from a high end restaurant not a village pub The breakfast, in particular, was a highlight, great ingredients and perfect hosting. What truly sets the Museum Inn apart, however, is the atmosphere. Mel and Paolo have cultivated a space that feels more like a welcoming country home than a traditional pub. Whether you’re enjoying a meal in the dining area, unwinding in the inviting guest lounge, or engaging in friendly conversation with the staff and locals, you’re constantly reminded that this is a place where your comfort and enjoyment are top priorities. In summary, the Museum Inn in Farnham offers everything you could want in a countryside escape—fantastic food, charming and comfortable rooms, and an atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. Our only regret is that we live five hours away and can't return as often as we'd like!

This is the most beautiful country pub, and the rooms are so cosy and comfortable. We stayed in a family group of 8 / 4 rooms. We had 3 stable rooms, which were lovely and quiet with really comfy beds and much appreciated fresh coffee and cafetiere for the morning! Huge fluffy bath towels and gorgeous toiletries. We also had the Generals Room as a treat for my parents, and it was absolutely beautiful, it felt really special, especially with the balcony and village view, and the fact it was set aside in it's own quarters! The residents lounge was fabulous with a log fire and plenty of games to keep the children happy before dinner. Then we ate in the restaurant for dinner, which was all really tasty and enjoyed by everyone. The atmosphere was fantastic, busy and bustling in the bar, but not at all overbearing. Breakfast was amazing, lovely choices, plenty of juice, coffee, pastries etc. The staff were all brilliant, really welcoming, friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be back!

The only feedback I have is that there were quite a lot of people smoking directly in the main doorway / porch outside the bar. It wasn't very nice to walk through, so I'd suggest encouraging the smokers around to the outside seating / car park.

Lovely pub in a beautiful village setting, very friendly staff, very attentive. Room was very nice and we had the best nights sleep, beds were so comfortable.Superb food, both breakfast and evening meals, and excellent service, would definitely recommend.

Whilst our room was very nice, and clean too, it could do with a bit of attention in the bathroom, needs updating but appreciate everywhere is trying to recoup after Covid so perfectly understandable.

Excellent with good range of cooked breakfast included in the room rate. Great coffee and friendly service combine with awesome room and atmosphere. Dinner in the restuarant was excellent, highly reccomend the battered sardines. Good wine list to support.

Being an older hotel, there are some parts of the ceiling in the rooms that could do with a clean (they are difficult to reach) and some of the curtains and blinds need replacing or updating, as well as some slightly worn carpeting in heavy traffic areas. But this is really nitpicking, its an excellent venue for a cosy getaway.

What an excellent two night stay we had. We were fortunate enough to stay in The General's Room; a large room with four poster bed, large bathroom and balcony! The Museum is in a lovely Village location and the quality of the breakfasts was great. One bonus (which we learnt about after we booked) was EV Charging - we have a Tesla and we were able to fully charge it.

A minor point which did not detract from our stay. The breakfast service on the first morning was so slow. We were attending a wedding locally and some of the party had to wait nearly 50 minutes for their food. The food just about came in time and was really tasty but some of the party were getting very stressed. We think they were short staffed as the second morning we had no such problem.

The whole experience at breakfast was really excellent and the lady who served us was superb. The food at dinner was also excellent, room was comfortable, warm and great value.

Service at dinner was slow, we had the feeling there wasn’t enough staff in to manage the restaurant and bar (which was busy) at the same time - although the staff we encountered were polite and friendly it could perhaps have been a little more proactive. Having said all that, we had a lovely dinner and would return in a heartbeat.

Location was great, food was good as was option for beer. Room was well laid out plenty of amenities. Bed was very comfy. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant.

Noise from the fan close to the room, handle to two rooms was broken and held open with gaffa tape. This was not great. Noise from carpark was loud but short lived. Bathroom is in need of a little attention with an odour of damp / mould and water runs on the wall

The location was ideal. I have known this venue for many years but this was the first time I have stayed. The residential accommodation, in our case in the converted stable block, was excellent. Extremely comfortable beds and plenty of storage. Parking right outside our rooms. A couple of horse riders stopping for an afternoon drink made for a pleasant scene. We had dinner at the pub and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, even preparing some off-menu toasted sandwiches for my wife and teenaged daughter who weren’t feeling too adventurous ! Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice. All in all an excellent stay; we’ll be back. There were three electric vehicle charging points in the car park, two Tesla and one ‘ordinary’ if that’s of interest.

The morning fire alarm test was a bit of a surprise, that’s about all I can think of. It was at about 1030 so not a big deal by any stretch. The room could have done with an iron and ironing board, but I’m sure if I’d asked they would have been supplied, so more an observation than a criticism.

The Museum Inn is a popular pub in a really gorgeous Dorset village. The hospitality was great and the food very good. This is pub accommodation but our room was large, well equipped and clean. Yes it could have a couple of things fixed / remedied but overall it was a really good room to stay in.

Only one point. The only “issue” was that the EV charge points are free ! - x3 ~7kW charge points; x2 Tesla and x1 CCS - but because they are free people hook up and just stay put. We’d selected the hotel as it had EV chargers but waited from 2pm on Day 1 until 9am on Day 2 for one car to unplug from the CCS. Maybe not the hotel’s fault but not really an available service.

The pub was local to the event we had travelled down for. The staff, especially Paolo were very friendly and attentive. Our room was clean and spacious, very old worldly but we liked that (never slept beneath a thatched roof before).

Not the property’s fault, but the village it is set in is void of interest-we had chosen the pub for being local to our main event, so not a huge problem.
