Nice hotel perfectly situated for the town. Breakfasts were tasty. Bedroom and small sitting room comfortable. The bedroom could do with updated furniture. Martin the manager was very friendly. On arrival due to the small car park, we had to park in a nearby public car park. He made arrangements for one of the staff to go with us and help us with our luggage. Plus next morning he himself went and got our car and moved it into the car park
Our only complaint was the car park had insufficient spaces for the amount of rooms in the hotel, but as the hotel was a very old building, space was limited. So it was probably outwith the control of the hotel. Other than that no complaints

What I liked most about this hotel were the management team, who went out of their way to make sure that my elderly parents were looked after throughout their stay. Martin the manager may well be the most lovely, considerate and cheerful person on the planet, he consistently went above and beyond and we all left feeling that he is an absolute star. Other than that the hotel is very comfortable and is in an excellent location right in the centre, across the road from the Cathedral and it has a delightful terraced area in front of the Cathedral green where you can have drinks or afternoon tea with a lovely view of the Cathedral.
The electric car charger trips and there could be more of them.

The location being right at the heart of Wells. The manager of the hotel is a soul of this place. It’s someone who clearly has a natural understanding of what great hospitality means. It’s the little gestures that make things special and he excelled in making you feel welcome and cared for. Example: when checking out, he asked if we were having breakfast and when told him were skipping it, he asked if wanted tea or coffee made for to take for the road. This is an example of a 3* hotel where the manager understands how to turn it into a 5*experience for the guests.
Please, make sure to take earplugs if you like to sleep with the window open like I do. It was a weekend and it was very noisy until late into the night (not hotel’s fault of course). It’s the only issue. Had I not had my earplugs, I wouldn’t get much sleep.

The room was super and far better than expected. Facilities in the room were good. On our arrival, we were greeted by Martin, a man very passionate about his job and the hotel standards. The food was of a high standard, with a decent number of options, and we would happily eat in the restaurant even if only passing through. Every member of staff, without exception, was friendly and courteous and helped ensure that our stay was a memorable one Located in the Wells town centre, the hotel was perfect for exploring the town. Loved the hotel and staff and would definitely choose to stay here again.
Being a very old building, there are some creaky floor boards. We had one small hiccup with an evening meal. Unfortunately, a coach load of guests arrived late afternoon and all decided to have their evening meal at exactly the same time. As we arrived at the restaurant after them there was a big impact on our meal service. That said, Martin took this on board and left us satisfied that changes are in the pipeline to avoid this issue going forward.

The iconic (Hot Fuzz location) Swan Hotel proved to be a wonderful base for a weekend break in Wells. The location couldn't be better, either for the historic cathedral and market place or for fans of the second film in the "Cornetto Trilogy". Our room was spacious and comfortable with a super bath tub at the end of the bed, great for having a relaxing soak at the end of a hectic day. Facilities included a suitable machine and capsules for my morning espresso. The breakfast offerings were good, I recommend the excellent full english (with poached eggs option) or the delightful eggs benedict. There were plenty of parking spaces at the back of the hotel, which was a huge bonus for us. The staff were friendly and very helpful, including helping take our bags to the room. The location of the rooms is a little eccentric, being scattered among various out houses, so we did need guidance to find ours. Overall, a wonderful hotel and perfect for any aspiring Sgt Angels.
One of the light fittings in our room was broken and there were some curtain rails stacked in the corner, so maybe a quick check before the guests arrive was in order. However, this is merely a trivial point and did not spoil our enjoyment of our stay at the Swan Hotel.

We were very happy, as Jelena behind the reception desk went above and beyond to help us, when the room we first were offered was unsuitable, as it had a shower that needed fixing before it could be used. We went to tell her immediately that it was unusable and were moved straight away to another room which was fabulous! Thank you.
The car park became full one evening and we would've liked to be informed before we had driven half way through the drive and had to navigate reversing, due to another car coming out and telling us it was full. Perhaps a sign or a text would be a great idea! Luckily, there was plenty of parking on the street however.

The feel of the place was very warm and welcoming. Our bedroom was lovely. Very clean and comfortable. The age of it all was fascinating with lots of hidden and surprising areas outside. The outlook to the cathedral was stunning with a really pretty garden to relax or eat in. The hotel was a stone’s throw from the Bishop’s Palace, the market square and the cathedral. It was good to have parking. We didn’t need to use the car at all.
The bedroom, although lovely, was like a hothouse. Only one of the 2 windows would open about 4 inches. The lounge was not inviting or very comfortable.

The location is very good with a bonus of being able to park the car on site. The staff were very friendly a willing to help or assist
We had the late breakfast by which time the cooked breakfast was over heated and very well done or crispy. The only tea bags in the room were Chamomile - no normal tea or decaffeinated tea - we had to keep asking reception for the tea bags. The safe did not work as it would not lock...a known issue. Evening meals were OK but you had to wait a very long time between courses. Yes its a 600 year old but they could have made sure the bed did not sit at such an angle as made you fell like you were going to fall out of bed if you turned over to quickly

Staff in all areas (reception, restaurant, bar, cleaning) all very professional, friendly and helpful with excellent covid rules in place. The hotel terrace across the road overlooking the cathedral was a real bonus. We stayed in the coach house part of the hotel and had a lovely room. If you are driving it's worth studying a map of Wells in advance as much of the city is based on a one way system, easy to negotiate though I was glad I checked the layout in advance.
Car parking is tight but manageable with care though I'm not sure if the hotel was full whether everyone would get a parking slot, (there are though public pay car parks reasonably close by), other than that everything was fine. From my research I think the Best Western was the only hotel offering parking so it was a bonus if you can get a slot.

Room was excellent and the hotel was in the centre of Wells so everywhere was walkable. We had a lovely view across the green to the Cathedral. Very clean and tidy.
Car parking is very tight on access something not stated anywhere on the information. We had to move our car early the following morning because maintenance was being carried out on the kitchen, which was inconvenient. Staff were OK on Reception but not very helpful when we tried to book a table for an evening meal implying they had a large party due in and they couldn't get us in around the time we were looking for. Therefore we found a delightful bistro just up the road. Breakfast was average.
