The location of Sherlock Lodgings was great, being centrally located and on a quiet street at the same time. The coffee and cake shop below was an added bonus and we loved the Sherlock Theme. The breakfast was great with a good selection to suit everyone and located in the first floor Sherlock Themed library. We tried the cooked breakfast and american pancakes. The room was very nicely decorated and comfortable. We had one small issue which the friendly staff dealt with quickly.

Everything was great, so nothing to note that we didn't like. The stairs to the top floor was narrow and not a problem for us, but those less well abled may find it tricky.

Perfect location to central Whitby. The staff were all amazingly friendly and the room was very spacious, clean with tea, coffee, biscuits and an iron which came in handy. Really lovely place to stay.

The only issue we had was the shower head fell apart on our first night but it was no issue as the other worked fine. We notified staff members who said they would send someone out to fix but we didn’t mind for the majority of our stay. The stairs leading up to the room were quite windy and steep but it was fine for us.

Fantastic location & lovely accomodation with much history. It had quirky steep stairs which might put people with mobility issues off, but we knew this & added to the really interesting & different character of the building. We really loved the place and location. It was quiet at night for a great night's sleep too. All staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was really nice with good portions. Will definitely stay here again when next in Whitby!

One of the towels & drinking glass provided were not clean, but this was rectified the next day when our room was cleaned.

Location was close to the town centre. Getting back after a few was more difficult as it is up a steep hill! The decor is kooky and fun. The room was nice and cosy and we enjoyed our stay. Staff were excellent and the place is well worth a visit if you are in Whitby

The stairs to the room were very steep and the hand rail was difficult to hold - you could trap your fingers. You can also bang your head! All this is to bear in mind and just take care going up and down stairs. o real negatives about this place and well worth a visit

The rooms were very spacious and comfortable, from the room at the rear we could see the harbour over the rooftops, the smell in the bakery kitchen one floor below was scrumptious, full English hit the spot in the morning with other options available, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful will defiantly stay again the stairs could be an issue if you have mobility isues

could have done with a bit more dusting and the curtain rail needed to be fastened a bit more securely but I am being a bit picky here the place is great

The location was perfect , easy walking distance for everywhere , considering where we were room was extremely quiet no noise and disturbance . The staff were overwhelmingly friendly , particularly Claire who also worked in the ground floor cafe below. Cannot fault the quality of breakfast especially the coffee.

The micro pub next door poorly named its beer o clock , was weird and unfriendly and not great lighting , the surly barmaid looked like she would have done anything not to serve us , no northern hospitality here ! To note she was not the apparently normal friendly blonde manager , I checked with Sherlock staff , think she must have been having an off day or didn't like my accent !

Clean, comfortable, well-located accommodation with very friendly staff

The rooms are above a coffee shop so the smells from the kitchen (not coffee and not in the room) were a little overpowering at first. The staff were on site from 8am and were easily heard from the room. But breakfast (which was really good!) was at 9am so this wasn’t too much of a problem.

Very comfortable quirky room (number 2) with a lovely view over the harbour. Great bathroom with very powerful shower 🚿 and complementary toiletries. The staff are on the ball nothing is too much bother. Fantastic breakfast and amazing scones. Great soundproofing windows to keep the gull sounds out early in the morning. I'd definitely go back.

Very nice little place above coffee shop. Room was very good, comfortable bed, slept very well. Good full english breakfast to start the day's walking. Location very good - close to lots of eateries and pubs central in the town and near the harbour. Highly recommended.

Very sadly, the breakfast bacon was so overdone and hard I didnt eat it. Minor point only as rest of the breakfast was very good. There was so much good stuff on my plate I didnt need it!

Central location on a surprisingly quiet street. Harbour and main thoroughfare only 3-4 minutes away. Room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Susan (the owner) and the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was served in a funky book lined room and the breakfast itself was excellent. 10/10.

Stairway was a little difficult to navigate as narrow but it’s a period property so it is what it is.
