The location is beautiful, nice and peaceful. Food was wonderful, we ate an evening meal and had breakfast for 2 days. All well cooked and presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A comfy room, big enough for the two of us for 2 nights.
The room we stayed in could do with some maintenance, theres a loose shelf in the bathroom. Ceiling needs dusting, quite a few cobwebs and under the bed needs hoovering. There was no shower, only a handheld one attached to the bath tap and the water pressure wasn't the best either. My son is almost 6 feet tall and combined with the slopped ceiling made it difficult for him to shower properly. The hotel itself needs some tlc, few cobwebs here and there and some maintenance bits and bobs that could do with being addressed.

Beautiful room and gorgeous surroundings! Ideally placed for our trip to Splash Landings. Breakfast was scrummy and the staff were absolutely fantastic 😊 So welcoming especially the first lady that greeted us - such a lovely manner and smile. I would absolutely return and recommend!!
The only thing I was surprised about (especially given as clean and homely everything else was) the coffee mugs in my room had not been cleaned - they appeared to be swished around with water and placed back. There was still coffee from the previous guest left inside. I believe this was not the norm as everything else was perfect - just mentioning so the staff can be extra vigilant in future. I'd forgotten about it until now as I don't have hot drinks so it wasn't a major concern to me.

Quiet rural location. Big TV in room Freshly cooked breakfast came out quick and started at 7.30 at weekend too so great for an early start Water coffee biscuits toiletries . Friendless attentive staff. Has restaurant with bar too for evening meals. Fab hotel
No baked beans for breakfast instead they had black pudding .Toilet seat holding clips in room 4 put on facing the wrong way so the toilet seat was too far back and would not close . Sorry forgot to tell staff A simplify rectified common fitting error. What a great venue to stay though . Would love to return

Location was great as we were going alton towers. Nice quiet location. Staff really lovely. Rooms clean and comfortable. Fresh bottled water in the room and a new bottle in when we got back from our day our, which was great as we actually forgot to find a shop. Food was lovely, we dined in the evening. Breakfast was fab and the cold options while waiting for the cooked were great too (apologies we didn't make it for our second breakfast, sad we didn't as breakfast we so nice but our day at Alton Towers drained us and we slept in and with a 6 hour drive back, if it wasn't for my medication alarm we would still be asleep at check out, oops) I would come back to the hotel again with how lovely the staff are, nothing was too much trouble and they helped a lot
Being on the lower floor and the room above us being a little heavy footed but it is an older building not as sound proof but wouldn't put us off

The hotel was really clean and tidy along with our rooms. The staff (Julie) was really welcoming, friendly, and helpful when we had questions. The food in the hotel was amazing really hot when it come out of the kitchen and had good portion sizes. Fantastic location with amazing views and it was so quiet, which was so nice after a whole day of exploring.
There is nothing bad to say. My only suggestion is that more toilet roll in the room as there was three of us staying but that was resolved and to have three mugs instead of the standard two but that is a really petty thing.

Stayed here for 2 nights as visited Alton towers. The hotel was lovely / very clean, it was also on nice grounds which would have been perfect for lovely walks. We stayed on the ground floor, room Was very spacious however we could hear people above us from time to time and our bed was abit hard ! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice and included within our stay (vegetarian option available). Alton towers was a 10min drive from hotel which was very handy. All in all I would recommend hotel.

Lovely location, very quiet. There is a golf course attached to the hotel and if you stay in the hotel it is free. We were only there as we were going to a wedding nearby but we went early as the weather was nice and it was great to sit outside in the sun with a drink. We had something to eat and the meal was excellent especially the mushroom pepperpot. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The breakfast was very good also.
It was a bath and not a shower although there was a shower head in the bath so we made do, not a big thing really as we were only staying one night. The ceiling in the bathroom was quite low as attested to by my 6 ft tall husband!

The service here was absolutely exceptional. Our hosts were attentive but not intrusive. Despite only staying one night, our host remembered small details that made our stay more enjoyable. Some of the best service I've experienced. We stayed here for Alton Towers which is just an easy ten minute drive away. The location is perfect, quiet, and beautiful. The evening meal was also very good and great value, making this a more reasonable, grown-up alternative to the theme park hotels.
The beds were a little creaky and could have had firmer mattresses for us.

The hotel is in a great location. The staff were amazing & so hard working! Even working long days they always have a smile of their face and remembered little things about our group from the evening meal to breakfast the next day. There was a limited choice for evening food but it was all lovely & very tasty.
noise from rooms upstairs disturbed our sleep in the early hours of the morning (around 5-6am). The hotel did provide individually wrapped ear plugs for each person but even using these I still got woken up. The bed was a little bit too soft as well and rooms a little dated.

We cycled to this hotel, which I think is a little hidden gem. The proprietors were very welcoming. On arrival they made sure we were comfortable with drinks, and that our cycles were safety locked up. The rooms are clean and spacious, the bed I had was comfortable for my liking, and I had the most peaceful sleep for along time. The catering was great, with the hotel restaurant providing a basic but very well-prepared menu of traditional bar meals, and breakfast. A very good selection of beers from the bar to quench our thirst was also on offer. The surrounding countryside is fabulous in this part of the country, and I would definitely recommend a visit to this hotel if you want to relax for a few days.
Nothing, it was a very good value for money experience, and probably one of the best I have experienced for a while. I am not really a fan of shower over bath arrangements, but I think this is a pretty typical set up for most hotels of this type.
