Location was perfect. Large bathroom and bedroom. Well furnished room with plenty of storage for clothes, with wardrobe and drawers. Large window looking out to the carpark and pub. Large bed was very comftable and clean. The large field at the back of the pub was covered with buttercups and had picnic benches where you could sit and relax/ listen to the birds. The staff were very polite and helpful, quick to take orders at breakfast and dinner. Food and drink was excellent at every meal. Main meals and desserts were well presented and delicious, better than we could have wished for.
Our room No3 was opposite the back of the pub and kitchen. The kitchen ventilation fan was noisy at times. In the carpark sometimes we could smell sewage. In our room the black bathroom floor looked dirty.

Great location for walking right from the door. Loved being able to come back to the pub for lovely food and drinks. Innkeepers cottage well fitted out with good facilities. Staff were very helpful and accommodating even though they were very busy. Breakfast was great. Evening meals were delicious with a great selection at a reasonable price. Lovely dining room and outside seating.
The double bed / mattress should be replaced as was uncomfortable. The sofa bed was uncomfortable to sit on ad was falling apart at bottom. Just needs some repairs.

I only wanted to book for one night but they had minimum of two nights on the weekend. I'm so glad they did as we had a great stay. Staff were so accommodating especially the chap behind the bar all night who then served us breakfast in the morning.
I booked a triple room for myself and a mate. I can't remember if I had an option of splitting the double bed into two singles as himself ended up sleeping on the sofa bed. Might have been me missing it, however.

Beautiful location, I was there during snowy, wintery weather and it was lovely to have a roaring fire in the main bar to come in to - very cosy. The staff were very friendly, with plenty of 'locals' and a few visitors from outside the area as well.
The bathroom floor was so cold that a morning shower was daunting..... but the water was really hot and strong and so overcame that.

Lovely location and setting. Room was nice and clean. Bed was big and quite high but comfortable. Food was tasty, a little expensive, but very nice. There is a field for the kids to play in, which was great.
Service for breakfast was slow but I think they have walk ins from campers also. Some of the clientele were abit grumpy about the kids playing outside at one point and were rude but on the whole it was a lovely place to stay.

I didn’t have breakfast. I can’t think why. Maybe I’d eaten enough the night before, when I had a good meal in the restaurant, watching Wimbledon! However, I did ask for some bread in the morning and was very grateful and delighted to be given some slices with which I made sandwiches for the next days.
It was expensive, especially for the sort of walking holiday I was undertaking.but I couldn’t find anywhere cheaper to stay! I also had not appreciated how far the Manifold was from Hartington Village (1.7 miles) and the walk across the fields (rather than the main road) was not simple as some paths no longer exist!

The whole experience was very good. The large room was newly decorated in a modern style in the Coach house so away from any noise in the pub. The bathroom was excellent with a walk in shower with rain style outlet as well as a flexible hose. The bonus was a freestanding modern bath which I was not told about. The meals were excellent and good value. The staff were very friendly , prompt and attentive. The pub interior was newly decorated. The location was excellent and exterior traditional stonework. Breakfast was excellent. I enjoyed the whole experience.
After a lovely soak in the bath at the end of each day I was very surprised and disappointed that the water in the morning was only tepid so I didn’t shower. I reported this on departure and I am sure that it will be fixed by now as the staff assured me this wasn’t normal and they would get it seen to immmeiately.

The conservatory site for breakfast was OK.
Breakfast was OK. The scope of what was on on offer did include some whole fruit but with only 1 type of low fat Yoghurt offered. The coffee offered was not to my liking and not as good as coffee offered in other 4* hotels.

The location was excellent for the reason for our stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly, we ate in the hotel restaurant, there was a good choice and food was excellent. The breakfast was a bonus because we were not expecting to have any, the sausage was particularly tasty. All and all a great stay.
Nothing that I can think of.

The staff were excellent and the food great too. Lovely location and lovely old pub.
The smell of cooking oil wanders up the stairs. And the ventilator fan in the bathroom was very loud. But these are small points.
