Excellent location. Car parking. Lovely lounge. Friendly staff most of time. On raining days, the hotel has umbrella to lend us.

There was no water from the tap one night, so couldn't take a shower... On our arrival, we were 50 mins earlier than standard check-in time; despite the room was ready and available, another reception staff told off the lady who serviced us not to check in us and insisted to ask her colleague let us waiting for the standard check in time. Well, we appreciate the professionalism and stick to the rules, but it would be great to have some certain degree of flexibility and being extra friendly on the raining day...

Expected the hotel to be a bit 'faded glory' and provincial hotel-ish, but it was far from that. It was spotlessly clean throughout, fairly recently redecorated, and with great facilities/location. Staff were utterly charming and helpful, dinner in the restaurant delicious, cocktails (made to order) bang on, and the setting was glorious: magnificent views from all the public rooms looking over the pier and Windermere. Our Classic Double bedroom didn't have much of a view (wasn't promised to have), but was extremely comfortable with great facilities and thoughtful extras eg Tassimo coffee machine, night light in the bathroom, fan etc. Parking is free for residents (subject to registering your car on arrival - don't forget!); given the difficulty and cost of parking in the Lake District this is an added bonus.

Dinner menu doesn't change daily/no specials; it would probably encourage more repeat visits from guests if this was amended, but not the end of the world - lots of good dishes to choose from.

The quintessential, classical Grand Hotel. Wonderful, Elegant. Refined surroundings. Great staff. Exceptional dinning room ambiance with views over Lake Windemere. Excellent breakfast. Park near the front door!. Walk down the front lawn hill to the waterside esplanade and catch a cruise around the lake. Many pubs/restaurants 100-200m away. Good wifi. Nice bathroom.

Global warming is real. We struck a hot spell (27-30C) - NO room AC. Just a fan. Its really going to need a solution if Belsfiled is to remain a destination of choice. No fridge. TV small with limited channels. At this price point everything should be 'perfect'.

The wonderful Belsfield Hotel & the amazing grounds. The trees really something special. A lovely room with bathroom, really tastefully decorated. The Belsfield staff were all very friendly and always helpful. Love the dining room area with the wonderful views across Lake Windermere.

There was a shortage of staff at breakfast time, resulting in long waits for those being seated. We felt sorry for the staff as they really seemed to struggle, leading to some guests vocalising their frustration in the middle of the dining room. The staff were really doing their best under difficult circumstances. On two of the three mornings, items on the menu were not available (no avocado & fruit for the pancakes). Not a big issue..... but......perhaps staff xan give the heads up to avoid dissapointment. The overall experience was a positive one & we will be back. The staff very friendly & please extend our thanks to all!

stunning grounds and the perfect location! staff were amazing, especially the bar manager, he was extremely witty and made the most beautiful cocktails.

only problem we had was night 2, the service in the evening dining hall was extremely slow (food wise) and food was not as enjoyable as the 1st night. the following day, the breakfast (full English) was stone cold as we were served it. possibly a different chef on the Sunday night and Monday morning? Our room also had a leak coming down the wall from the room above which we told the Manager as we checked out and he was extremely concerned and attentive so I am assuming this will have been sorted ASAP.

I came here to propose to my girlfriend (now fiancé. Woohoo!) and the staff made us feel like we were the most important people in the building. It felt amazing to be treated so well, even just for one special occasion. Tracey, the events coordinator, and her son (whose name I've forgotten, sorry man!) were absolutely incredible also. Tracey really took care to make sure everything went smoothly for me, and her son works so hard, it seems like he's everywhere in the hotel all at once; A real hard worker. Our bedroom was very comfortable and clean, and we received a complimentary upgrade to a lake view room for our second night, which was absolutely stunning. The view was amazing, and the bathroom was to die for. We can't thank everyone at the Belsfield enough for our incredible stay.

There were only 2 very nitpicky things that I didn't like. A waiter forgot to put beans on my breakfast, then said he would go and get me some but never came back. Not the end of the world. They were busy. Secondly, and this really is taking the mick for me to complain about this... The coffee machine in the lake view bedroom didn't make very nice coffee. The "espresso" pods filled the tiny cups that were provided, which they shouldn't, considering it's supposed to be espresso. It left no space for milk to be added. This could be fixed by either providing bigger cups, or providing latte pods. Like I say, I really have no right to complain about that, seeing as we were upgraded to that beautiful room free of charge. We really, really appreciated it regardless.

The location and view were exceptional, all your staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially my niece and great nephew. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was clean. Only downside was the Friday night when a large party booked in and was outside with people who were not staying in the hotel until gone 4 in the morning and were very loud, to the fact we was staying on the other side of the hotel had to shut our windows and still couldn’t get to sleep because off the noise.

Other than the noise on the last night, nothing, the stay was amazing and would definitely come back again.

The room was clean and spacious with nice view of the lake. Breakfast was decent.

Staff failed to go the extra mile to source for a taxi from Windermere to London. They confirmed there was no such service available, but a cab driver shared with us that such service was available for £700. If only we knew, we would have stayed longer to enjoy the tranquility of Windermere. When we had to change our plans due to train strike, the staff were not empathetic and dismissed our request to waive the penalty for cancellation of booking. We had to pay for the room although we had to check out prematurely due to the likelihood of train service being cancelled as a result of train strike. Note: Check for possible train strikes before booking your trip to Windermere.
