Lovely welcome to the hotel via the receptionist. The place was exceptionally clean and looking very festive. Could not fault the location. Our room was cosy and filled with an incredible bed. The Hot tub on the balcony was sensational.

The location of the Spa was not ideal. Definitely a strange idea having to walk into a busy bar all robbed up to have treatments. This was also the same location for accessing the Pool, you were made to sign in/out at the bar on a clipboard. Unfortunately, I was not hugely impressed with the treatment due to the noise from the pool area below. The breakfast was nothing to shout about. For a 5 star hotel I would have at least expected table service for some part of this meal, especially the price which I have paid for the weekend, it's just not justifiable.

staff and the room were lovely. restaurant was fantastic as well. hotel very clean and comfortable - lots of lovely sofas to sit on and especially enjoyed the cocktail bar terrace. we had 2 fantastic treatments as well.

the spa was disappointing. very small with uncomfortable chairs to sit on unless you were one of the lucky ones who hogged the beds / loungers but there weren’t enough I felt for the number of people able to use the spa. also children were allowed in which I found strange as there is nothing to entertain them so of course they were running, squealing and jumping in the pool making it very unpleasant for couples there trying to have a romantic trip away from their kids!!

If you book through Lakes Hotel and Spa website directly you don’t get charged for parking there, if you book through booking.com you get charged £12 per day parking. Booking.com was a little cheaper to book through for our room though.

The hotel was lovely staff where amazing friendly and helpful.

Having to pay £12 parking because I booked via booking.com when I was already paying £350 for a night's stay I felt was unfair.

Really good location , 2 minute walk to the heart of the village. The room we stayed in had the Hot Tub which was amazing and also full access to the spa facilities which was a nice bonus. The food from the restaurants in the hotel were all spot on and a good choice of drinks too. The Concierges were all really helpful and made you feel very welcome.

When you're booking through a third party site you have to pay £12 a day for parking. This can be avoided by booking direct which I thought was a bit of a joke as its not clearly advertised. This added up to £36 over our stay and when you are already paying a lot of money for the room I don't think its very fair to have to pay this additionally.

2 bedroom spa apartment was great for families and the hotel was in a good location close to Bowness. Pool facilities were fab. We enjoyed lovely breakfast buffet each morning and also ate in the pub 2 nights which was great with kids.

For a 2 bed apartment the bathroom was tiny! Only one small towel rail and no extra hooks to hang towels which there are lots of when you are a family of four! Could also have done with some coat hooks or a small shoe rack on the empty wall when you first come in the room.

We liked everything about this hotel. It was beautifully decorated, our room and hot tub on the balcony superb. We didn't use the spa so can't comment. We had dinner and drinks in the cocktail bar which was beautiful with a view over the lake. The cocktails and food delicious. All the staff we encountered were polite, friendly and would do anything to accommodate you. There was a young man waiting on us in the cocktail bar and I didn't get his name although he mentioned he was fasting for Ramadan, he was very chatty, conscientious and his service exemplary. This hotel had a couple of bad reviews which worried me. we are very well travelled and have stayed in many fine hotels and we couldn't find fault anywhere in this one. It is a short walk to all Windermere and all attractions. Overall I highly recommend the The Lakes Hotel and Spa.

The 5 star experience started the second we approached the hotel with a warm welcome from Noel on the gate. This continued with every interaction after that. The glass of Prosecco at reception on arrival was a lovely touch (or elderflower spritz for the non drinkers). Marika even gave my 4 year old granddaughter a drink in a champagne flute because it was her birthday. We were upgraded on arrival which was amazing! Our room was beautiful and had a separate seating area which was perfect! The Lake Terrace bar is beautiful! It have the stay a real ‘holiday’ feel and was so chilled out with amazing views of the beautiful woodland surrounded the hotel. The next morning we went to the pool area which is absolutely beautiful. You enter the spa through a traditional slate pub which is a fantastic quirky little addition to the hotel. The pool area was beautiful with soothing low lighting and a couple of hot tubs to choose from. Nice seating areas and a bar poolside add to the luxury. We enjoyed a small plate style lunch in the spa pub where it was 3 small plates for £14.95. We will definitely go back again, I’m fact we’re already planning our next trip for a little spa break for my daughter’s baby shower. Highly recommend x

Loved everything

The location was amazing, and we were given a tour around, the site and we were both shocked how stunning it all was! There staff were extremely helpful, took us to our room, which was amazing! Very clean, and a good size too! They also do an amazing service, where you can get a lift into Bowness in their Bentley, which added a great extra for a special occasion! Would 100% book again!

They only down side, is that we were charged for parking, considering we already pay a lot to stay at the hotel, I would of expected to get parking included!
