We hired the private dining suite for a surprise 30th birthday for about 20 people & the staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They upgraded the rooms of multiple guests that were attending, free of charge. The food was excellent. We were able to decorate the room & bring our own speakers for background music as we pleased. The staff were really communicative leading up to the event & made sure we were happy every step of the way. The beds were so comfortable, everything was clean & our room was beautifully decorated.
Nothing, I’ve been to the restaurant multiple times & always had an enjoyable experience but this one exceeded all my expectations!

We were delayed on our journey, but Sam, the duty manager, took the initiative to phone and check if we were still on our way. When I confirmed we were, he let me know the kitchen was due to close at 9pm, just before our arrival. Instead of leaving it there, he spoke to the chef, who kindly stayed behind to prepare a meal for our party. This is what exceptional service looks like. Sam didn’t have to track down my details and call, and the chef could have easily left at the end of his shift. Their actions went above and beyond, and they are both an absolute credit to the hotel. Highly recommend.

Staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, especially the manager, who rectified our room booking confusion and got us in the correct room in a quick and efficient way. The food on the evening and at breakfast time was a of a good standard.
Bar and communal areas very tired with damage to hotel doors, paint missing and wallpaper damaged in hallways and stairs. Smell of damp around the bar and pool table area was quite sickening as was the state of the cubicle in the male toilet which had brown substance on the floor.

Lovely, historic old building with outside seating area in a countryside location, although next to the A46. Had an evening meal and a continental breakfast which were both good. Staff were friendly and helpful as well as welcoming. Room had everything we needed, with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits and was furnished in keeping with age of the building.
No hot water in sink in the morning, despite tap being on for a long while. Think there must have been some changes recently as on menu breakfast quoted at one price but cost was 50p more.

The breakfast was the highlight for us, not only was the food delicious, the staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed - including putting extra chocolate pastries in the oven for us to take away! The room was spacious, the bed was comfy, and we had the bonus of staying in the actual room that Queen Elizabeth II took refuge in during a blizzard which was quite cool. The shower was also very good!
Very minor, but we could have done with something to hang our 'Do not disturb' sign on our door. Would have been nice if the bar was open a bit longer so we could have a drink after coming back from dinner, but nothing major. Nothing else I can think of that we didn't like!

The staff where lovely and polite. The rooms where great, really nicely decorated, spacious AND most importantly even had comfy beds WITH extra pillows. Lovely and warm possibly abit too warm but thats personal preferance i was roasting my daughter was just nice.
So in the corridor there is frosted plastic film on the windows for privacy which is great but in the bathroom wer the window is directly oposite the toilet and shower cubicle which looks out low level head height into the car park there wasnt any frosting. Just good old plain glass windows leading into the bathroom for everyone to look in. Just means u have to keep the blind drawn the entire time lol

Room was spacious, sadly not as clean as we would have expected and having a dog she was interested in finding bits on the floor and under the bed and bedside cabinet. I removed those with a tissue. The breakfast and dinner were great, lots of choice for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. It was very quiet at meal times and I felt sorry for 3 gentlemen who wanted to order evening meals but were told they could only eat if staying as guests in the hotel. The free parking was a bonus and the dog walking area was appreciated.
The housekeeping wasn't up to standard in the room. The bath surface was so slippery, my husband fell back into the bath, thankfully not injuring himself. There is a notice saying the bath surface is slippy and the water is hot (it is exceptionally hot, be warned if children are hand washing unsupervised etc)

Room was good and quite (was not adjacent to nearby A road), bed in particular was very comfortable, staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good (full English), loads of parking available, pub had a friendly atmosphere. For me, the location was ideal as I was visiting Yate just down the road. I'd certainly book again if visiting the area.
The experience was a bit like visiting an old friend who's house had seen better days. Nothing specific, just looked a tad tired and worn. Not enough to stop me revisiting though.

The welcome from Paul at Reception was excellent, the pub is very welcoming and cosy, and the staff were very friendly. We had a meal in the evening which was excellent. The bed was warm and very comfortable. The room decor is very nice. Good quality bed linen and towels.
The room is a little small, no one's fault, its what we chose. Some aspects of the cleanliness could have been better (there is black mould around the windows in the room and the bathroom).

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The dining room had a lovely ambience and the bars had plenty of character. We had an evening meal, which was excellent value for money. We also had breakfast which again was excellent. The staff were friendly and courteous. Loads of parking space.
There were a few beers not available. Some of the wines on the wine menu were not available. It appeared that they were short staffed, but the staff that were there were great.
