Big room, comfy bed, ensuite. Staff very good. Location just off the moors and easy to get into Plymouth.

Food generally good, some things should be a bit better. Had beer batter fish and chips - batter very crispy but too thick, it hid the taste of the fish. Mushy peas dry and chips could be home made. Breakfast was good, but if your menu says two eggs you should get two eggs. Also when you are paying £7 for some ‘Artisan’ bread one side of a slice shouldn’t be stale? These are just constructive points because it could be excellent with a bit more attention.

Myself and three friends enjoyed our stay very much. We chose the Burrator Inn to see if it would be suitable for a return visit later in 2024 with a much larger group, for a short walking holiday. We will definitely return.

There were a couple few things that could have been better. When we arrived, one of our rooms was still a double whereas twin beds had been requested over the phone when the booking was made. This was sorted quickly. The drying room (wet clothes & walking boots etc) was out of action. We were lucky to have dry conditions but if it had rained we would have had a problem with having to keep wet clothes in our rooms overnight. The landlord did say that he'd had difficulty getting someone in to fix the problem and that he hoped t would be sorted soon.

Although one ingredient was unavailable the breakfast was superb. I often get served slightly overcooked, dry bacon but the bacon was perfect! The young lady serving was very polite and efficient. It was nice to be served by someone who is so pleasant. Good cocktails served at the bar too!

Additional cleaning needed to the underside of handles. Some had what I can only describe as 'bits' stuck to them as I went to open a couple of the doors. In the triple room, perhaps someone could go onto the flat roof and close the window. Quite a draft came in but we were unable to shut it during our stay as it appears to be stuck. The triple room has bunk beds and perhaps some people might not be aware? Just a suggestion, it would be good to advise potential customers.

My husband and I have stayed at The Burrator Inn before, the staff are always very welcoming and helpful, our bedroom was clean and comfortable, with everything provided as you would expect...tea and coffee making facilities with little bottles of fresh milk in a fridge on the stairwell to help yourself too. Lovely quality bathroom products too, shower, shampoo, conditioner etc. We had a small issue this time with the sink plug in the bathroom which was addressed straight away. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal, which was very good home made food. All round good value for money, and a comfortable stay.

This time the breakfast was very disappointing we both ordered the full English, which the waitress commented "everyone had ordered this morning " We were not the last to arrive for breakfast but when it was served to us, the breakfast was a very small portion, probably because the chef had not cooked enough portions to start with. Half a small grilled tomato, 1 slice of black pudding, 1 shrivelled slice of bacon, 1 cold shrivelled sausage, 1 teaspoon of baked beans!! And I mean a teaspoon, 4 pieces of very small burnt saute potatoes and 1 freshly fried egg. You could tell everything had been cooked a long time and held under a heat lamp apart from the egg. The waitress cooked our toast and brought that to us along with our coffee, needless to say we had double toast!!

The hotel is ideally situated if you wish to explore the moors, and has bike washing facilities if you ride. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in (and I stay at a lot of hotel due to work). At breakfast there was a wide choice of items on the menu and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I will be staying at the hotel the next time I am in the area.

The restaurant is not open Sunday evenings, as they serve Sunday Dinner from 12:00 to 5:30 and the team need time to recover! If you know before arriving this is not a problem, there are local pubs serving food.

Great location for Tavistock, Plymouth the moors and surrounding areas. Lovely pub / Hotel, friendly welcome from the staff, nothing was too much trouble, delightful room and bathroom. Plentiful parking. Lovely food with great choice for evening meals and breakfasts. Overall had a great 3 night stay, would highly recommend The Burrator Inn and would definitely book to stay there again.

The first night we found the bed was much too firm/hard for us, so we requested a mattress topper which was put on the next morning without any fuss, infinitely improved our sleep and comfort. The lighting in the room was a little dark, only having 2 bedside lamps and an overhead light with a black shade could!! could have benefited with an additional lamp on the table with the tea/coffee making facilities.

Newly refurbished room with good facilities. Breakfast was good but the menu did not reflect exactly what was served, clearly staff hadn't read the menu and the menu in the room was different again. Staff were very friendly on all interactions.

Centre light in room very dim and needs higher wattage bulb. Hairdryer curl cord very tight and power socket at low level making it difficult to use dryer at normal level and when pulled hard to extend curl cord it resulted in plug coming out of socket. Bath quite narrow at shower end.

Location very handy for exploring Dartmoor. The room was very comfy and tastefully decorated. Good tea making facilities - real milk available in a fridge in the corridor. I wasn't there long so didn't spend any time in the bar or eat dinner there - looked welcoming though. Breakfast was good quality

Not keen on a wetroom for a bathroom - I got wet socks even before I went walking on Dartmoor! Would have liked some buffet items for breakfast to give a bit more choice and variety.

it’s modern looking and really well located to access the moors, cities and beaches. they are so so good for dogs owners to stay and have a great outdoor area to eat and drink as well as a safe area for kids to play. Staff are so friendly and accommodating. The menu is good and well priced and food is generous in size. there is a large tv in the var and access to Wi-Fi through the cloud.

found nothing not to like. ok the bedroom needed a little decorating repair but the bed was king size and you get a kettle as well as a coffee machine and lovely biscuits in your room . Our room had a wet room so easy to shower

Large clean room. Decent TV and tea coffee in room. Bar area nice. Good selection of drinks. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Very good food in restaurant. Large car park. Great heated huts outside.. perfect for evening drinks.

Restaurant ... Various things on menu not available. Various bottles of wine not available. Bar.... ran out of jack daniels on each night we were there But none of the above was a problem really.... just a little annoying to have to change the food choice after ordering. It's just one of those things.... would not stop me returning.
