how welcome we always feel when we arrive here. our room (Wallis Simpson's) was lovely, our view, looking over the kitchen gardens out the back was really good at night when the security lights were on. the geese, they are a favourite attraction. the staff, some amazing ones (Carole on reception), some new some old (time working there) Tom gets a special mention as being a vegetarian and staying for 7 nights then my choices were limited so he spoke with the chef and they made a plan and I had amazing food. the housekeeping staff (Paula) keeping us well stocked in our room and one of them carried our big case down the stairs for me on leaving, much appreciated.

barking (anxious) dogs being left in the bedroom whilst owners dine when the hotel offer alternative eating areas where their dog can be with them, yet away from other diners. leaving, we never like leaving but they always say 'see you next time', they know us so well.

We had a beautiful room, though we moved to another which was also very nice (the Vivien Leigh room). The meals were special as staff were very attentive and made efforts to provide what we wanted. It is a beautiful location, walkable to Princetown and the moorland around. They feed the resident white geese in the morning and they wait near the garden on the driveway for their breakfast (as we had our own).

It was very hot in the back room, though the room was nice with a four-poster canopy bed. And a security light we shone in the room triggered by the flapping of a shed door. We were moved to the Vivien Leigh room, which was a pleasant surprise, making up for the discomfort. You need to plan for buses if you don't have transport, and make sure you are seen by the driver (no buses on Sunday).

Staff were superb - always helpful, cheerful and went above and beyond when I had a query. Bed was blissfully comfy and room delightful. The bar/lounge areas are really nice - particularly for a single female traveller; it felt safe and friendly, the decor was interesting and furniture comfortable. Food excellent. Great location.

I was surprised that the Premier rooms do not have robes or even a flannel and basic disposable shower cap. I've stayed in hotel rooms £100 a night less and still had at least a flannel and shower cap. Wifi was rather hit and miss in the building but then the hotel is in a valley so has to be expected.

Dinner was very good (cloth napkins) but breakfasts were excellent and as good as any you will get, anywhere. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was modern (new) and clean. Lovely dated interiors with lots of historic photographs - very nicely done. Lovely fresh water, on tap! Very pleasant welcoming staff - couldn't be faulted. Creaky floors go with the age of the building - lovely! The location is idyllic with easy access to the moors and its walks, pubs and villages.

The Wifi was poor but it did work. This might just be the 'signal' to the hotel and not their fault. The outside seating area was a bit grotty. Unswept tarmac with weeds and moss growing through cracks. The outside wooden furniture was good quality but was in a poor state - flaking varnish/stain and the table tops were dirty - bird droppings and debris pushed into the gaps. This was a shame, because the outside area itself faces the river and the bridges and is a very nice place to sit out. However, I accept that it might be hard to keep this area clean with the amount of wildlife about but a daily sweep up, weekly jet-wash and annual re-varnish of the furniture would make this a 5 star visit.

Location is superb, you can't beat it. Had a Georgian room on the ground floor this time, lovely room and a corner bath, I could even lie in the bath and watch the TV!! Dinner was lovely, I was too tired from travelling to eat much but they met my requests for food intolerances. Dining room is lovely and my table was positioned so I faced out through the bay window area which was lovely as I was by myself. Breakfast was lovely as always, the choices are perfect. Little glitch but will deal with the hotel directly, the staff are amazing.

Not staying longer, I couldn't afford the time to stay another night. Always don't like saying goodbye. Was sad to see Natalie no longer there but hope she's good wherever she may be.

Lovely location and a great place to explore the moors from. The hotel was comfortable and food good. Staff friendly. Living in Devon I only stayed one night. But I can honestly say this is a brilliant location to stay and explore the area from (Dartmoor, Plymouth, Tavistock etc.).

It was a stormy windy night I was there. The windows rattled somewhat and it was a bit noisy at night because of that. However whilst I considered this a down point. Some people may enjoy the wildness of staying on Dartmoor, especially coming from a city.

breakfast was yum, I'm a vegetarian so didn't have a cooked breakfast except for the last morning. Apple juice to start and a glass of water. Yoghurt. Melon, a slice each of 2 kinds. 2 croissants. Green tea. My husband had the full cooked but they are v flexible with add-ons and take-offs. dinner is easier this year than last. a new chef, v accommodating to personal requirements, I am meat and fish intolerant so a strict vegetarian. The tomato omelette provided when he had a coach party to cater for, was really lovely. my choices were good as we only dined in house a couple of times. The sister hotel, Bedford Hotel in Tavistock was a lovely alternative. Sandwiches were available on the chef's day off and all other days but there was a big demand so more stock needs to be ordered. location is exceptional, you can't beat it. driving in after a fast bend is ok but I prefer to go out over the little bridge for more visibility. so close to so many walks and some you can leave your car at the hotel, depends on fitness, I walk with a stick, childhood injury.

leaving! ice in water, or cold drinks makes them weaker. running out of bread for sandwiches and oat cakes not available, we had our own crackers from home. no egg sandwiches on the menu poor parking, there is ample space if others are considerate but a few spaces should be hotel guest only.

Room was lovely, lovely view of the garden. Peaceful, relaxing. We booked for an evening meal which was exceptionally tasteful. Staff were very eager to please, nothing was too much trouble. Bedroom was very pretty and comfortable. Breakfast was very ample, all freshly cooked, love the fact that they use all local produce. Extremely tasty. Cannot fault. We would return again.

Unfortunately if lying in the bath, you are able to see the inside rim of the toilet which could go with a good clean, the beams had cobwebs in the corners which were visible from the bed. Noticing something under the single bed it urges you to investigate, finding the top to the radiator cap which had been pulled off by someone you then look more to see if there are things missing that may have been connected to it finding beds have not been cleaned under. It did not spoil our nights stay but when you start to pick up things you find more.

staff are lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them. rooms are amazing, welcoming and comfortable. breakfast is an event, from the mini marmites (don't find them very often) to the choices, cooked food, cold food, pastries, fruit, yoghurts, juices. lovely buffet so help yourself and then order the extras. location couldn't be better for us travelling down to Cornwall, stop on way down, stop on way back. Business to do in Exeter so this was ideal.

only stopping the one night, such a short break and a lot to do but Two Bridges is like 'coming home' so you feel all the warmth and comfort you need.

love the staff, reception, bar/restaurant, housekeeping, all lovely people. dinner was great, ooh the raspberry panda cotta, yum, yum. love the location, love dartmoor and the sheep and the geese at two bridges. we had 'King Edward Room' next door to the Wallace Simpson room! lovely furnishing, v comfortable, at the back with a view of the kitchen garden. breakfast was under room service as my husband tested positive for COVID that morning. staff amazing, so helpful and concerned for us. we love this place and stay whenever we go down to Cornwall on the way down and on the way back. thanks guys, love you all xx

leaving, never like leaving this place always feel 'at home' here.
