This motel is the hidden jewel of Mojave. First, the couple running it are 2 of the nicest people you’ll meet, always waving hello when tending to the property and happily hopping to any help you need. Second, it’s located a bit in from the junction of Interstates 14 and 58 which means it’s off the main strip and away from the railroad freight tracks that run through town, so it’s peaceful and quiet and you’ll sleep like a log. And because it’s across from the town fire & ambulance station, you feel perfectly safe too. In terms of eating, McDonalds, Carl Jr, and Denny’s are all within an easy walk (with a Stater Bros supermarket just a fast car hop away too). From the outside, the motel looks like an old, weathered motel out of time, but inside the rooms are immaculate with clean walls & carpets and pristine sheets and towels. You also get a nice 4-foot fridge, microwave, coffee maker, flatscreen with DirecTV, and WiFi which was very stable for work purposes. My guess (and this is why I said it’s a “hidden jewel”) is that they’re in the process of upgrading the entire motel because my bed also felt new… the bathroom shower stall was beautifully tiled… during my stay, they resurfaced the parking lot… and my air conditioner (an essential for any stay in Mojave) was brand new. This review may sound too flowery or too good to be true, but coming from a guy up from LA on business who needed a place to stay for a bit… and given the looks (and reviews) of the other motels in town… THIS is absolutely the motel you want to pick.

The place is nice and quiet with the exception of SOME “whooshing” you might hear in the early morning from SOME truck rigs that turn off the 14 and quickly jump to light speed on the 58 as they start barreling their way towards Barstow and Vegas. But it’s so minimal and infrequent, it’s barely worth mentioning.

The location is easy access for getting on and off highway 58; as well as highway 14. The location is quiet; though very near the gas stations, eateries and Starbucks. Family Dollar is just down the street in case you need to pick up toiletries.

I was completely satisfied with the accommodations. The refrigerator/freezer kept food and beverages cold. There’s a small coffeemaker. The AC kept the room comfortable…maybe a bit loud, but tolerable. The shower was roomy. The shower head had a pleasant spray, and the water temperature was plenty warm.

Desert Inn was perfectly adequate for staying a few nights while I was racing at Willow Springs. The drive from the track isn't bad, and compared to other hotels nearby, Desert Inn saved me a enough money on my weekend to fill up my truck with gas at 2022 prices. The room was plain but clean, the bathroom was actually very clean, and the fixtures were pretty new as well. I didn't notice any noise from the highway or other guests. I arrived later than planned, not until perhaps 9pm, but after ringing the night bell, the caretaker cheerfully took my payment and gave me instructions for me key and wifi password. I would definitely plan to stay here again.

We could park in front of the room for easy luggage handling. There was an ice machine. The fridge and freezer were really big. Room was clean. Shower was very large. There was a table and 2 chairs.

The heater remote didn’t operate correctly. It wouldn’t work part of the time. Man in the office not very friendly. I booked a king room but the bed was a queen. No security chain for the door. The table top wobbled.

Room was clean and things mostly worked. Bed was comfortable, though a bit light on the blankets. Staff was great.

The blackout curtains had a gap at the top that let lots of light through from the porch lights. It was a bit noisy (train and cars), but I suspect this is the quietest motel location in town.

Absolutely perfect for a six-hour sleep. The owners have obviously put some work into an old 1950's era (or older) hotel - remodeled bathrooms, new light fixtures, large refrigerator, etc. The room and bathrooms were clean. Towels all clean though probably quite old - one had a hole in it. Crisp clean sheets, DirecTV. No complaints - it was exactly what we needed.

The owners are simply delightful. Friendly and accommodating.

The pillows are flat and hard and should be replaced. The ac unit was so loud I had to turn it off. Both of these things are easy fixes. Otherwise the price was nice and the location is good.

I stay at the Desert Inn every time I'm in Mojave, if they are not sold out. The owners are excited to see me, remember my name and are as genuine as any business owner you'll ever meet. The place is old, but spotless, because the owners have pride in their place. The AC blows cold. The ice machine is packed with ice. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom recently remodeled. I love this place.

There is nothing that I don't like about this place. I sound like a relative of the owners, but I am not!

I was very pleased with the motel, we were not expecting it to be as clean as it was and the people are extreemly nice. We traveled in our truck that was full of equipment and no one bothered it as well as they gave us a room where we could park with the truck backed up to it to ease our minds.

It's a good stay and definitely worth the money.

The location isn't great as there's not a whole lot to do in the city of Mojave.
