The location was prime, being right in the heart of the Gaslamp. The staff was friendly and helpful, both at the front desk and the valet. The cool style and rich history of the hotel was a bonus for us too.

The bathroom wasn't in the best shape. There was a crack in our tub, and it was a little difficult to get the water to transition to the shower head. We only stayed one night, so it wasn't a big deal, but we were expecting a little better-maintained bathroom for the price.

It's a lovely hotel feels like you're in the Great Gatsby it's very elegant. Y,ou can tell someone cared about this hotel. It's definitely haunted but that was actually kinda cool too. Front desk attendants we're polite and cordial and there's many spots to take pretty pics for social media. The hotel also has a full whiskey bar and grand piano it was very cool great for socializing if you're into that. Vintage decor in the room with updated modern conveniences. I had no problem playing videogames as with some places. Definitely worth a visit!

The room was cozy and adorable but it had like an old moldy kinda odor coming from the AC so we spent most of the stay over-heating and with the windows open. Never been to a hotel that doesn't allow 12pm checkout without a fee. Security guard while present seemed a bit off and didn't make things feel safer. Weird at night around the area no real places to curb a service animal. San Diego's changed a lot :/

Close to the ball park and bars and restaurants all in walking distance. Clean street area. Felt safe. Our room faced the courtyard, which is cute. Front dest was very efficient and helpful and let us check in 2 hours early. Held our luggage after check out so we could walk around the Sunday street fair. Valet was also friendly and efficient. I like their almost private street for checking in. The restaurant was handy and food was good. Especially those french fries.

Only thing is that in the morning girls were loud setting up tables in the courtyard - just to unset them. No one used them. Woke me up. Some loud guest came in late but their noise didn't last. It's a small, quaint, historical hotel. Seemed odd the bar closed at 8:45 when we got back from the ball game. But it was okay since we found other bars near by.

Location of the hotel. Friendly and very accommodating staff. We had to extend our stay due to unexpected illness and everyone at the hotel were just amazing. Trip was originally plan for 5 days stay we end up with a 10 nights stay. We are going back to San Diego for another 10 days stay at the end of May ( 6 weeks from now) and we are making reservations to stay there. All the wait staff where just amazing... peanut butter & jelly on toast for breakfast not on the menu I just ask & got it! Cold oatmeal Yikes.... again just ask & it got warm up.

Bigger bathroom and a walk in shower instead of over the tub, it makes it difficult for senior (85 & 71 yrs old) we are not as steady as we use to to climb in & out of the tub without any safety bars to hold on to. Also would have like a little more restaurant/bar hours. But not a big deal since there are plenty of good restaurants around.

The location in the gas lamp district was convenient - near many restaurants and near the convention center. The restaurant/bar was excellent. This hotel is great if you are traveling for fun - it describes itself as a "distinctive victorian experience" which it is. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

This is a historic building and would be great if traveling for fun. For work, however, it wasn't the best choice. No coffee in the lobby and the restaurant doesn't open until 7am - coming from another time zone I needed some coffee at 5am to get some work done before conference hours. The rooms are old-timey - fine if you're there to experience historic San Diego, not as comfortable if you're on a tight work schedule.

The location of the hotel is perfect, it's right in the Gaslamp district, you can walk to so many restaurants and bars. It's also very easy to get onto the highway. We had a significant delay in our arrival time, but the staff was very accommodating and welcoming. I liked the style of the hotel, the lobby area was beautiful.

Coming in from a very late flight and waking up early as we were on East Coast time, it would have been nice to have in room dining available. Also, there was a gas fireplace in the room, which is a nice amenity, but there was no safety barrier in front of it. For a family traveling with a toddler, this was a huge hazard.

The property was absolutely beautiful, there were so many details that made you feel like you were in another century. The location was absolutely perfect minutes away from all of the restaurants at gaslamp district. The staff was great always friendly and ready to help. My favorite part of the hotel was the courtyard. It was a beautiful place where my partner and I could relax and enjoy a beautiful view. I will be staying here again.

The only thing that I can say I did not like about the property was the $50 a night valet price. It was very difficult to find parking on the street due to the amazing location of the property. So it kind of feels like they can charge whatever they want because you have no other choice but to use their parking. However, even the valley staff was extremely friendly and amazing.

I love how pet friendly it is, love the courtyard and the access to gaslamp. The staff were nice, they were pretty pleasant and straightforward. I wish parking was easier, the valet was awesome but damn 50$ gets you convenience. We also noticed some lights flickering when we were walking through the hotel, then we found out it was haunted and when we went back into the hallways the lights were normal. Maybe some kind of spooky occurence? i loved it.

my room was close to the restaurant and there was live music until 10pm. I love how quickly they closed up for the night to allow us to rest, I wish the staff wouldve let us know about the live music when we were checking in so we could have made plans.

This is a fantastic location and a beautiful, historical hotel! Our room was quaint, clean and super comfortable. The public space in the hotel were elegant and the decor was interesting and showed the history of the hotel. The bar and restaurant (Salt & Whiskey) were great and reasonably priced for a hotel location. The gentleman who ran the bar was a true mixologist, making fantastic drinks and making sure he had/made the very best garnishes. All of the hotel staff were friendly and informative. We so enjoyed the Horton Grand and we would definitely visit again!

Our room overlooked Fourth Avenue and it was LOUD in our room, as was the music coming up from the bar. Fortunately, other than the first night, the noise calmed down after midnight. Also, while the bar was open late on weeknights, it closed by 10 on Friday which was disappointing. Nevertheless, we loved the hotel and recommend to anyone!

Amazing professional and most friendly staff, very comfortable bed and linens, several sets of pillows to choose from, full room amenities, excellent location close to Convention Center and in the middle of Gaslamp, good value.

Neighbourhood a bit noisy, Internet access point worked randomly, antique style not to everyone's taste, though room amaenities are modern (arcon, ceilinf fan, etc).
