The hotel is set in an old building full of character. Our room was very clean, spacious and very well equipped. Fully functional kitchen area, wonderful. Good location as your close to Union Sqaure - good for shops, bars, place to eat Wonderful little touches - breakfast box, which we opted not to take, the afternoon Cheese and wine was a delight. Despite coming through a pandemic, like many others, this hotel really knows how to wow their guests and I'd definitely recommend the hotel

I think it's cultural, but the complete rudeness and hostile attitude of the man and a little lady of the reception. Bad manners, rude and very unpleasant! Funny, when you "bite" back or as I did point out how rude they were to their face, their whole demeanour changed. Surely, you'd be happy to have a job and be in business in the current world climate. If you can't be polite, look for another job!!!

The service was great! Sammy was awesome! All of the staff was very courteous and attentive. We really enjoyed the wine and crackers. The kids enjoyed the breakfast, too. We would definitely stay here again. Can be a very busy area at night, but it was fun to people watch. We loved the little nook area by the window, and the kitchen was a good accessory to have! The kids enjoyed the jet tub! There's lots of food places around to eat, so that's always a plus! Even though the valet was pricey, they still did a great job in taking care of our car.

The valet parking was a little pricey at 45 a night, but at least it was a fast and easy process for the most part, and we had our car within 20-30 minutes like they said.

The breakfast was just ok, but everything else was more than I expected. The location was fantastic, we enjoyed the evening wine reception, the room was clean and pretty, and the front foyer was a wonderful place to welcome friends. We were within easy walking distance of many things in downtown San francisco. I guess I assumed because the price was reasonable and the location was great that the hotel would not be so great, but as I said it exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they allowed us to store our luggage while we were touring around the city. They even allowed us an early check-in when we arrived before our check-in time.

It would have been nice if there was a coffee machine or kettle in the room. They gave us instant oatmeal for breakfast but we had no means to heat it up.

We love the area and the rooms are spacious.

Receptionist…he is very rude…even when paying using the card I made a mistake and made me feel like an idiot for asking simple questions..he got so frustrated just for having to re do the transaction one more time. He was rude from the moment we showed up…I called before arriving asking if I can do an early check in the person over the phone said yes and once I came in he was super rude telling must have called the wrong number. I had to ask my husband to deal with him because of how rude he was and even my husband agreed he is terrible with people.

Great breakfast, lovely comfortable room and a great location. The only negative was the man who worked at the front desk had a huge chip on his shoulder and you could tell he didn’t like the guests. You could tell every question we asked irritated him and he felt our questions were stupid. Had we not been in such good moods this might have darkened our opinion of the place.

Front desk guy was pretty awful:

Friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful staff makes the Beresford Arms a wise choice in the Bay Area. Clean, spacious rooms, great city views, in a location that is full of things to do, restaurants galore; Union Square, Chinatown, Nob Hill and North Beach neighborhoods are within easy walking distance. We’ve stayed at both Beresford properties and they are our go-to hotels when staying in San Francisco!

It’s difficult to cite any dislikes. This is an historic building with unique quirks, a slow elevator, and some rooms are small. The staff is eager to rectify anything that gets in the way of a pleasant stay.

The Old World facade, the same ambience in the Lobby, unique and serene. The value for money, our Junior Suite was spacious, restroom /shower wide, clean and functional. Its great location allowed us to discover the City, with a gem of a burger joint just across, Pearl's, where we had their sumptuous sandwiches. Several A1 restaurants were also accessible. Kitchen had silverware, plates, pots and pans, even a champagne glass, available. Nice Touch. Historical info on frames abound, adding to its Old World elegance. Staff was friendly, accomodaring.

Elevator was dark, gloomy, its buttons almost undiscernable. We accept it being slow but it could use some lighting. AC or the absence of it. Not necessary for fall or winter, but for summer, it might be a letdown. Internet slow.

Our room was really pretty and HUGE! Probably the largest hotel room I've ever stayed in, which was great as we were there for five days. Two queen beds, two sitting areas, double sink, bidet and 6 foot soaking tub with jets in the bathroom, and a small kitchenette. We were provided a "boxed breakfast" every day with so much food we couldn't eat it all, and in the afternoons, we were treated to a free wine and cheese happy hour. The lobby is small, but beautiful.

There is no A/C at the hotel; it really isn't needed as the nighttime temperatures in San Francisco were chilly. We opened our windows for fresh air and got a lot of street noise, too. We were on the 4th floor, but occasional loud cars/motorcycles or late night revelers woke us up.

Initially we had a room with an unworking toilet. They immediately changed the room and with a free upgrade. They were also willing to look for a more quiet room. Every day happy hour with free wine and cheeses. Rooms are spaceous. Wifi is very good. If you know how public trnsport works in SF, bus stop at the hotel

In central SF .... always traffic... throughout day and night when teh neighbouring room switches on the bathroom light/air, it sounded in our room like an alarm as if our room was the soundboard. the breakfast is simple but OK, but everyday it is exactly teh same (we stayed for 6 nights so some change would have been nice).

Pleasant, accommodating staff. The room was lovely, spotless and very comfortable. I slept well and I'd certainly stay again. Despite this area of San Francisco being semi-vacated, there were plenty of good restaurants to choose from. It's very near Chinatown. They held a "tea"with tea, coffee, wine, crackers and cookies and a continental breakfast. I flew in, took the BART, stopped at Montgomery Street Station and easily walked to the hotel.

I have absolutely no complaintsl
