Staypineapple, An Elegant Hotel, Union Square

The location is great - just a couple of blocks from Union Square. The decor is lovely and is a mix of classic and funky! Staff were great and very helpful.

Not sure if this is common in the States but there was a $30 a day amenitiy charge for bottled water and internet. I believe this should all be included in the price of the room - it feels unnecessary and a bit cheeky to add this on top.

Hotel was nice, the people are friendly. Everything was clean.

The area that the hotel is in is very rough. The hotel locks its doors at 7.00pm. You do not want to hang around outside. There is dog muck on the street and lots of homeless people and pot heads wandering about. There is a good taco place opposite though for a breakfast burrito.

probably the location although the hotels still safe when going out for a smoke at night you’d get some right strangers approaching you.

Had a great 4 nights stay here at staypineapple, check in and check out was smooth and quick. People at the reception desk and cleaning staff are absolutely the best ( special shout-out to Yani for making me welcomed and responding to all my questions!) My room is clean and the lighting is sufficient and warm toned, so it is cozy to stay in. The room is well-equipped and refurbished as well, special love for the comfortable duvet. Recommend this place if you are finding somewhere to stay in SF.

It would be great if it’s more spacious

We loved the bedding and bed! I didn't want to get out of bed to leave it! Loved the character and charm of the hotel and all of the front entry and lobby was beautiful! The door lock at 7pm and you feel safe. Nice bars and restaurants all around. Even though people report it is a questionable neighborhood, it's exactly what you expect in a downtown neighborhood with history.

The bathroom is small and the rooms are on the smaller side, BUT the charm and character of the hotel make up for that as it is not your typical new build hotel. The furniture and everything inside is everything you need and more! The

This was such a cute hotel! The front desk staff was super friendly and helpful. The room, while small, had everything we needed and was very comfortable. We had a complimentary drink on check in and there was a good beer and wine selection as well as some non-alcoholic items if you wanted. The pineapple cookies were SO good and there was even pineapple infused water. The details at this hotel do not go unnoticed! We had breakfast in the morning before we checked out which was also delicious, quick and easy....not included pricewise, but very affordable options. The young lady who took care of us was great and attentive. Would definitely stay at a Stay Pineapple again if we come across one in the future!

Parking was our only downside which had nothing to do with the hotel-parking in SF is just expensive...but SpotHero is helpful!

Property is nice and centrally located. Room was nice though small (as is often the case is city based rooms). Appreciated the complimentary drink and coffee in the afternoon. There is a bar around the back and we had great food and drinks in there on our second evening - really reasonably priced for the location.

Our room overlooked a bar courtyard and the first evening an event was being hosted so it was noisy (though it finished around 10pm). We were also next to a store cupboard and around 11:30pm someone went in and was moving things around which woke me up again. The rooms are not serviced though you can ask for what you need (eg milk) at reception. The lift was out of use but the service lift was made available, we were not offered any help getting luggage to the room. None of those things would be too bad except we were unfortunate to be there at the same time as a major city convention which hugely inflated hotel prices. This meant we paid £850 for a 2 night stay which as a tourist is a vast amount and certainly not good value for the experience.

The location was good with access to all major areas nearby. Managed nicely with clean and polished stuff. the staff is very helpful and you also get two drinks of no charges from them. The lobby is solid to set up any business meetings you want. And they are pet friendly, not that I had a pet with me but others did.

The staff had superb customer service. They assisted me with taking my rental car and help me with places to sight see and eat. They brought us what ever we needed fast. Lastly they had umbrellas available when it rained. By far the best customer service I had ever received from a hotel, which will be my hotel of choice when ever I visit San Fran. The location is walking distance from everyday. Do not rent a car because there is no where to park. Be sure to pack some comfortable shoes and you will be good.

The room was just gorgeous, exceptionally comfortable bed. Space was a bit small, but it's right in the center of SF. If you like jazz, got a recommendation, from the front desk, to go to the Black cat, which is only 10 minutes walk, and a great music experience. Also recommended by the front desk team was the Laprese Eatery for breakfast, which was delicious healthy food, this is just one block up the hill. The staff are exceptionally helpful 😃

No complaint about the hotel. It's a really central location, but you have to be careful when you venture out to avoid the "tenderloin" area(undesirable), which seems to begin right across the street, so either head towards Union square (i.e. towards the Salesforce tower) or head up the hill on Jones st. which takes you all the way to fisherman's wharf.
