The staff was super friendly and helpful. At the concierge desk, we posed a question about how to find the cable car stop and use that system. We received a marked up map, great verbal instructions, and wishes for a great day trip. We left with a big smile! The bell hop was super helpful when I asked him in the lobby where I could find the nearest ice machine. He cheerfully said "follow me!" as he was already headed up to an upper floor. He stopped on my floor (the 6th), pointed me to the exact location of the machine, and waited until I had turned the right direction and then wished me well! Numerous times, the door attendants opened doors for us, greeted us cheerfully, and got us pointed in th right directions for our day adventures. Every one of these interactions set the tone for our stay and we are thankful for the experience. Keep up the great job...we will se you again :-)

I can't think of anything I would change to improve our experience.

Large, clean room. Good A/C

I was charged a so-called "destination fee" but got nothing for it. It was just an excuse to inflate the bill above the posted room rate. Also, disappointed that the hotel did not provide free coffee/tea in the morning. Not asking for a full breakfast, but not even a cup of coffee for $300/night?

The Grand Hyatt feels a bit more upmarket than other four-star hotels. On arrival, it's easy to miss the correct lane for pricy but typical valet parking, and the local one-way system means a long drive round for a second approach. I prefer to park my own car, but that is not an option here unless you seek out a nearby public car park, which seemed too much effort for too little saving. Nonetheless, the valet process was unproblematic and efficient. Check-in was also really quick, and we were given a great room with a city view on a high floor; there are relatively few rooms on each floor but well over 30 floors. Ideally, I wanted a bay view, but there are only king beds on that side of the hotel; twin beds face inland. However, views from the upper floors are great whichever side you are on. The rooms are compact but very comfortable and clean. The location is excellent, right near Union Square, so you can get to the shops within a few minutes (be sure to go to the excellent Cheesecake Factory at the top of Macy's for some great food), and Chinatown, Telegraph Hill and the Coit Tower, and Fisherman's Wharf are all within about 20–40 minutes by foot.

It's expensive. Although the room rate itself was fine, the resort fee made it feel overpriced, and we didn't want to take advantage of some of the discounts at nearby stores that were offered. Also, the buffet breakfast was ridiculously priced, even though it was excellent, and because there is not enough space for all the residents wanting to eat there, there were long waits.

Beautiful room, very clean, cozy bed and great extras (tv, free wifi, automatic curtains).

We had very loud rattling noises in the room, which as we were told came from the wind and the way the building was built. Made it hard to fall asleep even with earplugs. Valet was slow and very pricey, but its basically necessary considering all the car break-ins and crime in SF, so didn’t really have a choice.

The Grand Hyatt at Union Square is a wonderful hotel that I hope to return to soon. Have stayed at several hotels in the same area in the past and in different price ranges, but the Grand Hyatt is my favorite. The hotel seems to be well run in every way, the staff are pleasant, the bellboy/doorman service is impeccable. In addition, the level of cleaning is, for once, very good. Both the rooms and the hotel area are otherwise characterized by good order and cleanliness. If you want to live near Union Square, it is not possible to find a more perfect location. Very nice rooms of a good size. Tip: ask for a room as high up on the floors as possible with a view out onto Union Square.

The best things in this hotel are the staff and the breakfast buffet. Very friendly staff, and great food at the buffet. The location is quite nice too, very close the the main gate into Chinatown, and also close to Union Square and some very nice shopping streets.

Valet parking is overpriced ($85) so we did not take it. The room we got was smaller than we expected, and the beds were a lot smaller. Maybe we misunderstood the meaning of "double bed". Anyway we asked for another room and ended up in a suite, with a significant extra price to pay. Furniture in the room was a bit rusty and could use some maintenance. Overall value for money is low as prices are very high.

The Hyatt is a great place to stay. Very nice accommodations and well situated to do most of what San Fransisco is famous for. The beds are very comfy and the staff is delightful

This time we had to pay $44.00 for parking less than 24 hours. It would be nice if the hotel could help out in some way on that

I really loved the location of the Grand Hyatt San Francisco. Being next to Union Station and restaurants was great. The staff was also very friendly and personable. I also appreciate the cleaning staff being so attentive to my room. They come early but will come back when you give them a time you’re leaving.

I was very disappointed that the restaurant didn’t offer a buffet breakfast that included hot breakfast meats that weren’t pork. The first day we ate breakfast they offered chicken sausage. They next day it was bacon and pork sausage. You would think that daily they would have hot breakfast meats that didn’t include pork. That was a huge disappointment. Luckily I walked to a restaurant close by that offered a variety of options.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt for one night during our honeymoon and we loved the city centre location. Upon check-in we were upgraded to a bigger room which overlooked Union Square. This was a lovely surprise and a brilliant gesture from the hotel staff! Everything is within easy walking distance and there are plenty of public transport options nearby to make getting around even easier. There are plenty of great shops nearby (Macy’s, Bloomingdales etc) as well as some great late night bars. We went to a speakeasy called Local Edition which is about 0.4 miles from the hotel - can highly recommend. We didn’t have a chance to sample the food or drink at the on site bar/restaurant but it all looked lovely from what we saw. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to do some sight-seeing in San Francisco as it’s a great base!

Nothing in particular springs to mind!
