Welcoming and super friendly people working in this hotel in particular Manoj. Vintage style, historical building Big room, new bathroom
Restaurant still not open hence bfast a bit limited Some noise due to old parkett floors and single pane windows

The hotel is really good value for money when compared to average in San Francisco. The suite room was huge so it made things as comfortable as possible. The real gem though is the staff, they were absolutely delightful, friendly and helpful. I'd stay there again just for the staff.
The decor is very dated. Although breakfast is included, it had very poor choices of food. Coffee was incredibly watery and the pods machine only had flavoured coffee. We had to get the coffee from Limoncello an Italian deli just down Sutter street and had to buy my own spreads for the bagels (peanut butter and Nutella). No hot breakfast is served be warned. The bed mattress was very hard.

We truly LOVED that the hotel had real plates and cutlery, as we have experienced more plastic/paper in other hotels. Still, the butter, jam and spreads could have been offered fresh rather than plastic packaging. We were happy about our standard room, the bed was comfortable. The facilities of the room were satisfying, service was nice.
Our door to the bathroom were a bit difficult to close/open, but we managed. Other than that, only downside I could think about was the jam/butter single use packaging rather than served in a 'jar' (as we are now very much used to in Europe due to sustainable development), but apart from that all was good. :)

The hotel staff was excellent. I requested to move rooms mid-stay and they graciously moved me to a much larger room at no additional cost. They were attentive to all my needs and were super friendly!
The breakfast is quite minimal -- more of a continental breakfast with a couple of breads/waffle/mini bagels, yogurt, hard boiled eggs and some juice and coffee. The first room I was in was quite worn, and although the second room I stayed in was renovated and quite nice, the bureau was old and the doors had been removed. In general none of these things were enough to really complain about.

Hotel Majestic is a gem. We wanted an older hotel, part of the history of San Francisco. There is a photo in the lobby of the Hotel Majestic before the 1906 Earthquake! Hotel Majestic is elegant. It is beautifully decorated, including hand-painted murals in the elevator. Despite its age, it was exquisitely clean, without visible flaws, and everything worked. The staff, everyone from the concierge to the wait staff at breakfast, was either pleasantly friendly, or going out of their way to be helpful. For example, the night we ordered room service from the bar, (try the crab cakes!) there was a small discrepancy in our order, not enough to bother them about. Minutes later, here's the chef, knocking on our door, with the corrected order and apologies. Hotel Majestic is located within two blocks of bus lines that go everywhere in the city, and walking distance from Japan Town. The only thing that could have been better about our stay, after four nights, is if we could have stayed longer.

The ambience was just as described, a step back in time to a luxurious bygone age. The staff were extremely helpful and made us feel at home, especially Carl who brought cocktails and dreams to life for us and even made time to help us plan our activities. Breakfast was buffet style as it often is in the USA but food selection was better than most and the linen tablecloths and silver cutlery made it such an enjoyable experience. I could even get a cup of hot English tea at any time of the day. The location was excellent, in a safe area of the city, with great bus services, or short taxi rides, to all places we wanted to visit. They even have driverless taxis in San Francisco. For the price we paid, Hotel Majestic was exceptional value for money. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to everyone.
As with many city centre hotels it could get noisy at night times, with sirens going once or twice a night, so we needed to close the windows to sleep more peacefully.

Lovely historic building with nicely furnished rooms, working AC, nice linens, continental, breakfast, and functional elevator! Quiet, fairly safe neighborhood.
I would recommend a grab bar for the clawfoot bathtub since it’s very tricky getting in and out. I applaud the bulk dispensers near the sink, but would like to see them on the wall for bathtub use as well. Finally, the expensive parking situation is pretty prohibitive for many of us to come in for more than a night. There is no parking on site and the public garages locally are not rated well with all the recent break-ins. We did purchase the most expensive parking for something secure but we cannot do that for more than one night and will likely not do it again for quite a while.

I absolutely loved it! It was beautiful historic Victorian hotel, oldest longest continuously operating hotel in San Francisco as I learned. With beautiful collection of butterflies at the hotel bar! super beautiful! Room was cozy, older features brings you to the fancy past times. Hotel bathrobes was one of the coziest I’ve tried on! I wanted to purchase one but I forgot to ask about it in the check out so I need to come back again! Also received complimentary continental breakfast (muffins, bagels, toast, hard boiled eggs, butter, jam, yogurt, fruit, cereals, fresh OJ & coffee) Staff was nice, very helpful & also told us about the history of the hotel. I can’t wait to come back, I took my boyfriend as a birthday trip & I chose this place and he totally loved it and wants to come back there for our future trip to SF. 100% recommended, especially if you’re old soul and enjoy history.
Bartender was looking very bored at his job, not sure if he enjoys that but maybe he’s just introvert.

The staff - all of them - were the nicest I've ever encountered in a hotel stay. On check-in, they asked how often we preferred our hotel room cleaned (so as not to intrude), and preferred cleaning times. They even tried to help us re-route a package delivery that was giving us so much issues, we really appreciated that.
The breakfast included is boiled eggs, bread (toaster available), cereal, yogurt, and occasional orange slices. Would have loved a few more options, such as peanut butter at least, but that's my own personal preference. Also - I'm short, and the bed is quite high! Would have loved a footstool to hop onto the bed, especially since I have knee problems.

We stayed in a king suite, room 207. Despite it being right next to the elevator and ice machine, it was quiet and still felt private. I've stayed at the Majestic many times over the years and I consider it my special secret spot in SF. Not sure if it's under new ownership or not but this time the room was particularly clean and the overall vibe was more welcoming than ever- also there was breakfast included and I appreciated the fresh fruit and little omelettes. This spot has great value: comfy, often spacious, classically decorated rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, bathtubs(!), big windows, and bathrobes. Great location if you like it quiet and off the beaten path but still walkable, and there's always street parking (free on weekends) which is a huge boon when most other spots in the city charge $50-70 a night for parking else you risk getting your windows smashed parking on the street. That risk may still exist here, but much less so than even a few blocks closer to the center. I love Hotel Majestic and I hope it stays sweet forever. Also, thank you for the late checkout today!
Nothing, really- everything was great! I'd rather book directly with the hotel but the price difference this time was substantial. I just hope booking. com treats them right.
