Super 8 by Wyndham Montrose

Very friendly staff and perfect location close to National park. Our room was spacious and the beds were comfortable and the water pressure in the shower felt great after a long day hiking in the sun. It was nice to have a small frig and microwave. Breakfast was the basic, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, and a waffle maker but loved having hot coffee available a few steps away from my room. There was also a coffee maker in the room if you prefer! We had a wonderful stay and was pleasantly surprised by this Super Eight!!!

The person who checked us in was friendly. Room was clean. Typical Super 8.

No elevator. Most expensive hotel on our trip yet the cheapest. We realize it's due to lack of hotels in the area of a National Park, but severely over priced. Breakfast was just bagels and bread, toast, and cereal. Hard to find.

The managers were two of the best we’ve ever encountered! Since we added a night on the front end of our trip, we had to change rooms. The manager was quick to let us know they would hold our bags in the office so we wouldn’t have to transport in and out…which was done seamlessly. The day manager gave us our new room key before we left for the day’s adventures so we wouldn’t have to check in again! The evening manager knew us on return and brought our luggage out to us. Exceptional customer service, and we will return when in the area again!!!

The staff were very accommodating. Initially, I had been given a second floor room. Since they did not have an elevator, I requested a first floor room so I wouldn’t need to lug my suitcases up a flight of stairs. They were happy to change my room to accommodate my needs. The hotel location was a 5 minute drive from several walking trails by the river, which was also quite nice.

Extremely thin walls: a couple of men were arguing for about 10 minutes outside my room & I could hear everything. This is a pet friendly hotel, which is fine, but I could hear a dog whining in another room for at least an hour until the owners returned.

The hotel was clean and good value, and located in a safe part of town. As a single female traveler, I especially appreciated being put on the second floor.

Two things were not ideal: 1) The a/c unit was so loud that it was impossible to sleep with it, and yet, at 100 degrees, it was not possible to turn it off. In this location, which gets so hot in the summer, surely there is a type of a/c unit that is quieter. 2) The breakfast, at 8:45am, was pretty much gone, and if you cannot eat gluten, well, there was nothing edible. One sad banana that was totally bruised. I realize that with the pandemic, self-serve has to be modified, but there is no reason to avoid small yogurt containers, string cheese, or even a gluten free bread option. Please remember those of us with dietary restrictions. Thanks.

There was an hour and and a half detour getting there at night time and we called the hotel for directions at one point. The staff reassured us we were on the right track and gave us further driving instructions. The front desk staff was patient and responsive. They made us feel welcome, appreciated as patrons and provided excellent service during our stay.

The stay went really well. It was a nice property. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pastries at the breakfast were great. The little folding details in the towels and even toilet paper were a nice touch, too.

My only suggestion would be to offer more protein options at breakfast.

The room that I was given was in the back (less noise), pet assignment, facing the back of the property (no car noises). The manager on duty was extremely helpful, she allowed me to pick up my key card in advance of check in allowing me to scope out the Black Canyon of the Gunnison in the afternoon.

No green spaces nearby. I think that due to the ongoing drought, that green spaces are too costly to maintain. If you have a dog though, they usually like some kind of vegetation to sniff and to mark. Also, a little close to a State Highway. Highway noise was evident even in the back of the property.

The rooms were clean and quiet. It is an older facility but it is clean. The lady at the front desk was AWESOME! She was so very considerate and accommodating. She gave us great ideas on places to eat and locations of other places we wanted to visit or patronize. She is a true gem! They also had a guest laundry facility that came in very handy.

The room was a little smaller than I like. I was unable to bring the luggage cart into the room and had to unload it from the hallway.

Very clean. From the sidewalks to the empty trashcans to the stairwells to the rooms, top to bottom caretaking to maintain his facility. Staff was also very friendly.

it is a bit dated, but so well-maintained. It’s not really a factor. And it’s a tremendous value.
