What an unexpected gem! I originally intended to stay one night, but unexpectedly had to stay the entire week. The staff and owner of the Artisan went out of their way to make us feel welcome, comfortable and at home. The rooms were light and comfy, all the great local restaurants, shops and live music spots were a short walk from the hotel, and the town and hotel are very special places. Everyone is so kind, helpful and warm. Nothing beats staying in family-owned hotels and this is no exception. The family suite is perfect for a couple or parent and child and the fridge was very handy. The owner took extra special care of us - as did the entire team.

Not much - everything was lovely. I wish the pool was still there - and also wish there was a gym, but otherwise it was terrific!

The rooms were massive, and had unique touches, plenty of wardrobe space and lots of attention to detail such as cotton buds in the bathroom, robes with slippers, nice snacks, two choices of bathmats - these are things you usually only find in very high end 5 star hotels.

The AC in the bedroom seemed to be very erratic, and not working as efficiently as the one in the main living area. It got very hot in the night at times. So we slept with the door open to the living room to get the room cooler.

The Jr. Suite we stayed in was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and professional. The location is within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. The only downside is the large homeless population and panhandlers in the surrounding area. The entrance to the hotel is locked at night and I never saw any of them in the hotel but encountered them whenever leaving the property.

The hotel itself was wonderful! The fact that panhandling in the surrounding area is allowed is disturbing.

Really cute hotel! Loved the charm. Beds were very comfy. They had a cute welcome bag and "turn down service" with York peppermint patties. The toiletries were well stocked and it very luxe for the price. Great location. Apparently, the Cuban restaurant that is next to it is really good. It was not open when I was there but some locals raved about it. Staff was also very accommodating with my change of travel plans as well as helped with a package delivery.

That I couldn't stay & enjoy longer!

We loved our stay. We loved the old bones with a modern upgrades. This hotel was more of a homey place then the big hotels. The staff was fabulous and it’s was very clean. plus you can’t beat the amazing food from Chica’s downstairs. The smells filled the hotel and was intoxicating. 10 out of 10 we will always stay at the Artisan while visiting the DeLand area.

parking wasn’t the best but manageable

What did we like? EVERYTHING. The hotel building is almost 100 years old with beautiful wood floors and all the modern conveniences. The staff was amazing. The owners were wonderful. The beds were comfortable. The location is perfect. We parked our car and walked all over town and fell in love so much that we stayed an extra night.

Honestly? Nothing. It's a bit pricey, but we'll with the money.

Charming hotel right in the middle of everything. Excellent and friendly service. The room was beautiful with access to the terrace, very clean and comfortable. We loved the style and the amount of space. The bed was also very comfortable. The hotel restaurant is also very nice serving Cuban cuisine. Overall we had a wonderful stay.

I love staying at places that aren’t chain locations. it can always be a little dicey but the artisan was amazing, friendly staff, clean room, exceptional size, balcony just down the hall that over views downtown.

The restaurant that was considered an amenity. we planned to eat breakfast there the next morning- there was no warning that they wouldn’t be open and we were looking forward to it. the balcony is half way open to the public, anyone from the street can come and be right outside the window. The checkout time is 11 but the house keeping was asking when I would be out of the room AND I even saw one peek in from the balcony which was concerning. there is a realtor office right across the hall of the room, they open early so the sound of business and talking might interrupt your sleep if you’re a light sleeper. limited parking. Bathroom door isn’t exactly private.

Good location, nostalgic vibe to old hotel. Improved cleanliness and customer care on this stay as compared to two prior stays pre-pandemic. Restaurant next door (Chica's) improved too. Shopping & sight seeing during the day. Athens theater in evenings (on select days)

Owner/manager was very gracious and helpful. A lovely lady. Great little bar with good music. Wonderful attached Chicas restaurant. Was easy two blocks walk to multiple restaurants and pubs in downtown DeLand. Pricey but great place to stay! Will be back!
