The room was very comfortable, especially the beds and the bathroom. Both were very clean as well. The hotel is located less than a five-minute walk to Ala Moana shopping center and the beach park, which was great. There was also an ABC store and a McDonald's nearby. The front desk staff was exceptional! Kollett and Lynette were so friendly and helpful, and I enjoyed chatting with them! Check-in was quick, as was check-out.

I thought the room was a little dark, and the sliding wooden shutters weren't all that able to allow in enough light. My room didn't have a microwave, and there also wasn't a laundry facility at the hotel.

The staff was fantastic! The bar at the lobby had a selection of beverafes and coffee. The hotel room was very clean, so was the bathroom. Beds, though quite old were also comfortable.

The building being quite old and located on a main road, the windows weren't isolating the noise from outside, or even the rooms next doors. Also, we booked a room for four people, but I can barely see how 2 people would be able to fit in the beds we had. The third person cancelled last minute and the fourth booked a room in another hotel.

First, there is no breakfast. So don't mistake that. The Equus is not/not a 5 star. Nor does it pretend to be. It is a comfortable oasis amidst a number of 50+ five star candidates. Diminutive in size, only 10 stories...it has carved a special niche for itself. Location is excellent...all you could want. Places to eat, shop, beach, all within steps. You can pay more by going to the five star. So you would have a glasses in shower, or be on beach side. But it's Hawaii and beaches are public domain. In both cases you still have to walk and take your towels etc.. Anyway, I would do it again.

Not really anything.

I love the staff. Most of them were super friendly and helpful. I think customer service is extremely important in a hotel and you guys nailed it.

There was this bartender who was extremely rude. I was hosting my South Korean friends. After living in South Korea for nearly four years, the cultural differences have slipped my mind. I got my free drink, and I let my Korean friends have a sip. It’s a normal thing in Korea but it’s illegal in the states. The bartender asked for their ids but was rude about the whole situation. When presented with a Korean ID she ignorantly asked to see something “I can read”. It was just rude and ignorant. She needs to be more understanding about cultural differences.

It was still owned by a Hawaiian family, while being located in a popular spot. And the AC was good.

I'm just not a fan of waikiki, but it did the job.

Our stay was for 5 nights (mother and daughter). We loved the super friendly and helpful staff - they were like one big happy family. Definitely felt like you were in holiday mode. The room was lovely and very impressed with the comfort of the bed. We enjoyed a couple of lovely breakfasts at the bar and cocktails were amazing by the very experienced staff. We didn't use the pool in the end as we headed out each day but if we were a few more days we would have used it. Great location - handy to shops, beaches and restaurants. Would stay again for sure!

I really can't think of anything I didn't like.

First of all, the hotel staff is exceptional. They make the stay so very pleasant and are the real reason, along with the location, that I stay here every year for an annual convention. The hotel has been refreshed with the Hawaii style is lovely. The rooms are comfy with great beds. I love the full size Keurig machines in the rooms with plentiful k-cups. About a 6 minute walk to the convention center and 3 minutes to the Ala Moana Shopping Mall. Nearby to food, transport, beach, and post office.

Bathroom is very small and the shower is quite limited, but this seems in line for many hotels in Honolulu. I really would like if they provided even a simple breakfast for the costs involved. There are stairs up to the first floor to check-in, which is fine unless you have a lot of heavy baggage. Parking lot is very small and limited.
