The Graduate is located very close to Northwestern and is perfect for visiting parents, for school drop-off and move out days. The neighborhood is walkable and safe, and there is good train access to Chicago for touristing, so you can manage without a rental car. I'm a happy repeat visitor.

Elevators have been out for several months, and my room was on the 5th floor. On the upside, it means that after a few brisk trips up and down those stairs, I had my cardio for the day. The desk staff will help with bags, and they do warn you about the elevators. Presumably anyone with a heart condition can get a room on the first floor.

Location was excellent. A leafy street with quiet surroundings but only 5 minutes walk to restaurants, shops and the beach. Also very close to the university which has a beautiful campus. Spending an hour in the evening sitting on the verandah with a drink, watching the squirrels and birds was a lovely way to spend time!

The elevator was broken but thankfully our room was only on the 2nd floor so not too far to carry a case. A storm knocked out the WiFi one day of our stay but staff were very helpful trying to solve this.

We were on the 5th floor. Unfortunately the elevators were out but the walk up wasn’t difficult. The stairs are narrow with luggage however. The room was lovely. And I would have slept wonderfully BUT there were rowdy wedding guests next door that were loud late at night and surprisingly in the wee hours of 5-6:30 AM. But alas- that was not a fault of the hotel itself. I do wish the walls were more sound proof but perhaps no wall would have shielded me from the loudness of the people next door. Again- mainly the room was amazing, spotless, and the bed so comfortable. Will stay again I’m sure.

The out of service elevator but I’m Sure that was a Very isolated issue and it will bd fixed ASAP.

The hotel was immaculate, the staff was friendly and helpful, the room was lovely! Afternoon cocktails on the front porch were delightful!

The elevators weren’t working, but we knew that well in advance so rooms were only occupied on the second and third floors. Also, the staff willingly offered to help with bags! The a/c was set pretty low and chilly and one could only turn it on or off in the room. I turned it off and kept windows open, which turned out fine.

The facility was beautifully renovated, a really tasteful combination of old and new. It maintained the charm of the original with modern comfort and convenience. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was great: comfortable bed, nice linens, great shower. The bar is charming.

It would be so great if there were a complimentary coffee station for the am. Getting a coffee to go from the restaurant is awkward. They're not set up for it, although it seemed to be what many guests wanted. You have to wait for a server to be available to grab you a to go cup, then you may have to wait again for someone to be free to ring up the room charge. Just put an urn in the bar and let people serve themselves! Also, being super nitpicky here... there's a lovely gas fireplace in the dining room. but we never had a meal in there because there's a subtle but unpleasant odor of gas. it speaks to what a nice place this is that the con's are so fussy.

Decor, restaurant, location, staff

1. No ability to turn the AC on--the room had AC but the thermostat would only allow us to turn it to heat. When we asked the front desk, they explained the entire building was set to heat only, despite it being late May, and they could bring a fan to our room if we wanted. It was 73 degrees in our room, and I prefer to sleep cooler than that. This is not an issue I've had before at a hotel. 2. No counter space in the bathroom despite it being a large bathroom.

Overall a very good deal. great value for price. stayed in a double queen with a college. clean and with everything you'd expect (kettle, ironing board etc). one of the rare hotels where the fan of the heat/AC system is not so loud that you can't sleep. would definitely return

maybe just me, but i found the mattress very uncomfortable and didn't sleep well. they did tidy up the room every day, but clearly not vacuum the floor: a bit of dry soil fell from a shoe's sole and there it stayed for 4 days

Very friendly staff, elevator was broken but the staff kindly carried my suitcase up. Very nice decor, and a nice vibe at the hotel. Was sorry I only stayed one night and didn't get to experience it much! They also upgraded me to a bigger room on a lower floor because of the issue with the elevator. The neighborhood is beautiful and just a short train ride into central Chicago.

The elevator issue was out of their control and they did tell us in advance of the issue.

Location. Comfortable bed. Beautiful decor. Gorgeous historic building, and you didn't renovate the life out of it! I'd love to some some time in that fabulous looking bar.

Room was too cold and the thermostat didn't control the heat. No full length mirror. Should.provide information about parki.g.optioms at the reservation site Need to be able.to make.change. I had 20s but needed smaller bills for tips.

The location, rooms, amenities, restaurant, and especially the staff are exceptional! This is a beautifully appointed hotel. The Northwestern alumni-themed artwork is fun. I was here with my mother and aunt for a family memorial service at Northwestern. We were very well taken care of. The valets, in particular, went above and beyond for us - one even brought me medication when I was feeling ill and looked out for my traveling companions when I wasn't with them. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! It helped a lot to have comfortable and pleasant lodging during our visit.

It's a tight squeeze and a couple steps up and down to the elevator, due to this being an older building. This was charming and fine for me; probably a little less so if you have mobility concerns.
