Inn at 835 Boutique Hotel

The breakfast was very nice! The location puts you at a walking distance to the Lincoln house and other places of interest for many tourists. The charm of the old house was a treat as well as the historical materials about the renovation etc that we enjoyed reading as we came in.

The lighting: we like dim indirect light in the room so in hotels we usually leave the door slightly open to the bathroom and leave the light on in there but that was impossible as the fan was on the same switch with an exhaust fan which as most fans was audible. The shower worked well eventually but it took some fidgeting. We could hear people talking loudly in some room nearby so we did our best to stay quiet to avoid disturbing others - the old house does suffer from poor soundproofing.

The breakfast was very good and served to us in the dining area. I wish I would have stayed another day to see what we would have had the second day! The location was good. We walked in the evening but made the drive to the museum. It would have been a bit of a walk but definitely possible. The parking for the museum was free and we were too early for check in.

Couldn’t have asked for more. The room was spacious and had quite a personality. The chocolate chip cookies were a really nice touch. The only change would be to not have a whirlpool tub and to have a walk in tub. This was a little challenge for us older folks.

This is such a beautiful hotel! There is so much attention to detail! The woodwork and furnishings are lovely! Every room has a different style, but all are comfortable, with modern conveniences such as fluffy towels and cozy beds, ice machine, etc. The staff was attentive and helpful. The wine and cheese Happy Hour was a pleasant surprise on our recent visit, and the night-time chocolate chip cookies were great. Also it is at a good location for anyone who wants to see the sites. This was our second stay at The Inn, and we’ve loved it.

The only downside was the continental breakfast. On our past stay we had a fresh, hot breakfast, so downgrading to a fair continental breakfast was a little disappointing. Please make better coffee!

Breakfast, from what I had read, recently changed to 'self serve' continental style as many hotels offer now. Aside from that, we were pleased with the spacious table seating - again, made us feel at home. Was quiet, no blasting TVs on walls, etc - could have conversations and help self to breakfast counter. The common rooms on each floor are lovely and welcoming - a lot of history to take in. All beautifully, tastefully furnished.

We could not get the balcony door to open - but, it was cold out, probably would not have sat outdoors for long. There isn't anything that can be done to minimize the trains blowing their horn as they're passing through...

The Inn exceeded our expectations in a dozen ways. The minor shortfalls are being addressed, we're assured. Happy to see that the hot breakfast has returned. The reception wine and cheese was a surprise and a delight, and we were startled to find cookies awaiting us each evening. The location, mere blocks from everything, meant that having a car was optional for the majority of our 3-day stay. Semi-private balcony was a treat.

We were in the Iris Room. The shower fixture MUST be addressed.

charming, quaint, well appointed, well preserved and well maintained treasure of an older apartment building turned into a lovely Inn! Morning hot breakfast option was very tasty snd convenient. Walking distance to several restaurants and local historical attractions. Felt like s very safe neighborhood.

Nothing! We value these preserved treasures! one suggestion… perhaps add a couple of extra locations to charge electronic devices. The older buildings don’t offer many electrical outlets.

We liked the ambiance, the in room jacuzzi, the layout of the room , the amenities and the staff, in particular Megan the receptionist and Melissa the manager as both went out of their way to may our stay pleasant , in fact when we were not able to check in about 2:15 pm unless we paid an extra $35. Being told that check in wasn’t until 4 yet in previous emails it did state check in can be 3pm and 4 pm so we then went back to the car and sat for awhile when Melissa came up to us and asked if we were waiting to check in and when we said yes but was told “yada yada “she said that it was not an issue and said we could check in now .

The curtains in the room and the headboard were really dusty , the bed was comfortable yet extremely squeaky. We did not like that there were not choices for our hot breakfasts. Some lights burned out in bathroom . See above my “ likes” above regarding our attempt to check in , unfortunately we did not ask for that attendants name.

From the moment we drove up to this beautifully restored B & B we were very impressed with the property. It has been lovingly restored by the owners with comfort and service in mind. The receptionist was friendly and efficient and gave us a full tour of the property as well as escorted us up to our room which never happens these days! We enjoyed a glass of wine in the parlor in the evening and rested very comfortably in our well appointed room. In the morning we enjoyed a full hot breakfast in the dining room which was served to us by the wait staff, who by the way was very friendly and accommodating. There are a variety of room sizes and price points which is nice for a full range of travelers.

Had the more historical vibe we were looking for in Springfield. Good location. Friendly staff. Nice evening touches with wine and cookies.

Breakfast took far too long and half of the hot items were cold by time received. Although staff we dealt with were very friendly, they seemed to be understaffed and struggling to keep up. It actually made us a bit nervous to feel like there was no one readily available for any possible concerns. Light in bathroom was connected to noisy fan, so could not get up “quietly” to just turn on light & use facilities…

The staff were fantastic. There were plenty of extra touches and a more personal atmosphere than a hotel. The tree lined street view from the third floor was attractive. Great price for the stay. Quiet location.

The temperature was on the cool side. I prefer black out curtains for sleeping, but they wouldn’t fit the style of the room. The furniture was attractive but not the most comfortable for lounging in your room.
