Staying at Maine Idyll Motor Court was an unexpected treat! It brought back memories of my childhood camping with my family in sort of a vintage setting. It was so relaxing nestled in the forest, No noise, comfortable beds, neat and tidy. A kitchen for those who might be staying more than one night. Heat, A/C, and internet connection all worked well without incident. Definitely our favorite lodging in years of hotels/motels/B&B's, etc. We'll be back to stay as soon as possible!

Can't think of a single thing,

We always beeline for the Maine Idyll as our vacation doesn't truly begin until we get to this wonderful spot. The facilities , here, match exactly the pace that we set for our vacations in Maine. We stay at the Idyll every time we pass through the Freeport area. The rustic cabins each have a little fireplace and are always immaculately kept. The location, on Rt 1, just north of Freeport is the perfect spot to get off the interstate and start exploring the magnificent Maine Coast!

We miss those freshly baked muffins and coffee in the morning!

This place is adorable, the perfect little cabin stay near Freeport. It was very clean, no bugs, and the kitchen was well stocked (cups, plates, utensils, pots/pans, dish soap and sponge). We loved that you can actually use the fireplace and that they stocked you with wood and paper to get it started. The heater worked well in the room, so we were fine temperature-wise the whole time (we stayed mid-October so this could've been an issue). The cabins are far enough apart, as long as you're not super loud you have plenty of privacy.

Our room had two queens, one was squeaky and the other was warn out/sunk in. Still comfortable enough for a night or two. We didn't see a lighter for the fireplace, but not a big deal at all.

The owners have done an amazing job restoring these individual camps! Each seems to have a unique floor plan and offer various views of the surrounding property. My camp - #18 was rustic on the outside and very well maintained inside. Loved the operating fireplace option even though I didn’t try making a fire.

At check-in I expected the hostess/owner to be more welcoming. She seemed taken aback by my puppy even though I had made the reservation indicating he was traveling with me. Perhaps it was just that New England stand-offishness I have encountered in other situations. Also, there was a wild animal that ran/climbed over the outside of the cabin during the night which woke me and my dog about three different times. Unexpected but added to the “wilderness” feel of the cabin.

Stepping back in time to a sweet little cottage that was so cozy and quaint. We had a working wood fireplace, that is so unusual. The entire colony of cottages is really beautiful. The front porch was so nice for morning coffee, sitting on comfy Adirondack chairs. I loved how each cottage had it's own color scheme.

Our cottage was close to a busy road. The stall shower was the smallest I have ever seen and not easy to shower in. They may want to replace the blanket on the bed that had several burn holes in it. They could also change out the hardware on the screen doors, so that they properly close and don't slam.

The location was perfect for our vacation, central to everything we wanted to do. The fact it was a separate cabin afforded us some peace and quiet from potentially noisy neighbors, though we didn't have any our entire stay. Walking in I knew we could spend our whole vacation there and not feel cramped for space. It's rustic, some call it dated, but that's one of the things I love about it. It had everything a person would need for a stay. The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom surprisingly spacious.

There were only two things that were negatives, as far as I could see. First, the traffic noise, which they have no control over. Rt 1 on one side, I-95 on the other, it's the way it is. The other is the microwave. It wouldn't work for more than 30 seconds at a time. Really annoying. But I get it, old wiring doesn't always do well with modern appliances.

Wonderful experience at Maine Idyll Motor Court! We had a two bedroom cabin at a very reasonable price. Real fireplace with matches and firewood provided. Vintage furniture and comfortable beds. Easy access off the highway, and close to shopping in Freeport. I wish we had stayed there longer and skipped our hotel in Boston! Beautiful setting in the woods with friendly and helpful staff.

This met all our needs, though I could imagine other lodgers might miss the extra facilities available at an expensive hotel.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the cabin we stayed in had a fully functional fire place with instructions on how to safely use it. The cabin was very pleasant and felt very cozy and relaxing. It's location was only 5 minutes away from downtown Freeport. All the cabins are private cabins and the proprietors are very kind and helpful.

The signage could've been slightly better but honestly it wasn't bad just not very bright.

Not our first stay at the Maine Idyll Motor Court, and certainly not our last! It's just a very special place that turns back the hands of time somewhat with its feel and character. My husband and I both agree its like spending time at the summer cottages we visited as kids. Best nights sleep ever in the woodsy atmosphere! Fireplaces and real firewood ready for guests on the porches. This visit, we noticed the poetry and art that decorates the cabin and depict the history of the family who've owned this property since the 1930's. It's definitely been a labor of love, carried on by the generations. We're going back next month for one more stay before they close for the winter.

No complaints.

I wasn’t aware breakfast was available . I also wasn’t aware of spa availability. We just slept there and sat on the porch. We did our own travel spots.

Lighting could be better. Not on in the bathroom & kitchenette at the same time. Also not a great spot for the air conditioner. Otherwise quaint place.
