Very reasonably priced for American hostels. The self check in system worked well. I never interacted with any staff but the instructions were very clear. Simple breakfast of coffee, oats and spreads provided. There were about 4 parking spots in the back. Very clean

Only 2 bathrooms. There were individual power sockets (and USB charging ports) for each double bunk bed but you would need a longish charging cable if you're on the bottom bunk.

Super chill and friendly staff. Special shoutout to Keith who made our stay fun and memorable. Great location: in the best part of Asheville, close to a lot of nice restaurants and bars and with an easy bus connection to downtown and the River Arts District. Clean. Easy to connect with other guests. Private parking.

Only downside was the uncomfortable bed: the mattress is old and flat and is in desperate need of replacement. Also: the bed is small and short (not a queen size) so my husband didn’t fit in it.

The staff at Sharky's were probably the friendliest I've ever met at any hotel or hostel, and by the end of my visit I was happy to call them my friends The building itself is full of charming decor with welcoming, eclectic energy, and the beds (the most comfortable I've ever found in a hostel by *far*) and the bathroom were great! Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in the shower were much appreciated after a long journey. 10/10

The only thing that I would have liked to have which wasn't there is a locker to store my suitcase, but the hostel is secure and there is a space under the beds to keep your things. It just doesn't have a lock that I noticed. The rooms are up a flight of stairs, so may not be accessible for folks with mobility issues.

the west bungalow was awesome. it had a fridge, microwave, glassware/silverware etc. private bathroom. multiple lighting options (sounds odd but we’re neurodivergent and light is a big factor when traveling).. heat worked amazing. we had plenty of towels and bedding which seems to be where others cut short. over all this was the best stay we’ve had when going non traditional “hotel” stay!!

someone who works at the retro arcade parks right next to the house. His car is extremely loud, getting in and leaving isn’t a big deal at 2 am, we listened to him rev his engine for 10+ minutes Thursday night before he left. P5 parking spot shouldn’t exist, we drive a smaller sedan and having any type of car in p5 makes leaving p3/p4 impossible to back out of.

Wonderful two night stay! Keith was really helpful and welcoming! He had lots of local recommendations, made me feel at home and even showed us some magic tricks in the evening, which was fun. Bed was comfy and clean. Kitchen was well equipped. Good location, quiet but shops, restaurants and bars in walking distance. Plenty of hiking trails a short drive away. Definitely recommend and would come again!

We stayed in the small house behind the main hostel. The house is super cute, cozy, and perfect for 2 people. It’s is all open - as in , the bedroom, living room , kitchen -all one room with separate private bathroom! This is our second time staying at these accommodations. This is conveniently located to many cute little shops and restaurants (within walking distance) in WEST Asheville. Last visit, we were going to Salvage Station for a show and it was short easy drive or Lyft to get there!

No complaints.

The yellow double private room has a cozy bed. Appreciated bathrooms with clean showers, full toiletry dispensers (including conditioner), and jars of bandaids/earplugs/condoms. There were a few parking spots.

Lots of noise in the neighborhood (cars, nearby houses, an arcade/bar open until 2am) and from people talking in the hall way on the way to the dorms or bathrooms).

Good location, friendly, laid back, hippie vibe like a throwback from the 60’-70’s. I built a campfire in the back yard. Had good convos with staff who live there.

The antique, iron bed in my private room was noisy (certain we disturbed the neighbors one night ) and the mattress was saggy and very soft. There was a useless bench but no chair or desk. Nobody made coffee and there were no cups or mugs, only Ball jars and plastic to drink out of. There were no organized achivities, events, or even communication about things to do locslly, current events, popular destinations, etc.

This is a crazy hippie hostel, with a matching interior and exterior. The bunk beds are ultra-sturdy, the rooms spacious, everything there that a traveller needs. Lots of free food, one could have stayed for weeks on end without buying anything. Very friendly and helpful staff.

There are no plugs, charging facilities or night lights for every bunk bed.

Very warm and homey space -- everyone was quiet and considerate -- bed was very comfy -- parking was not a problem -- decent neighborhood with a couple of nice pub/restaurants nearby

Time to nitpick... Shower was very "low-flow" though also pretty -- toilet backed up on me, but was resolved. Music in living room was too loud to read a book in. Breakfast didn't exist (though it was mentioned as available - there were staffing issues) wasn't a problem for me though. All else met or exceeded expectations - overall a good experience, I'll be back.
