We loved the additional touches that we did not expect (snacks/coffee/tea/ bottled water available at all hours). Upon arrival we were informed about a cocktail hour. They served 5-6 different wines with a cheese board/grapes. There was plenty of space to enjoy yourself if you didn't want to mingle with other guests. The room was beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and everything was super clean. We enjoyed looking at the stars through the skylight (we were in "the Loft" room). We loved that the property was walking distance from the Cliff walk.

Maybe nitpicking here. There is no elevator, and our room was on the 3rd floor, just something to keep in mind. They did offer help with the luggage. Just a recommendation: The breakfast could include more plant options. i.e. plant based coffee creamer/oatmeal made with plant milk. Overall, we did find the food creative.

Location was great - cliff walk and beach were close by and walkable, yet the neighborhood was quiet. We even enjoyed sitting on the deck outdoors late evening. Parking for one car per room was included in the room rate which was very helpful in Newport where free parking is hard to find. And if our visit had been at a cooler time of year, we would have walked from the inn to the restaurants and shops on Thames Street. Our room (The Loft) was nicely decorated, clean and large enough for two of us to enjoy some down time in the room. Complimentary breakfast was unique and tasty - great choices served in single servings with all day accessibility to self-brewed coffee and tea.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Cliffside Inn. The Garden Suite completely exceeded our expectations and was more beautiful than the (beautiful) photos. The door to the suite is right off the main deck, and you enter into the bedroom. The bay window overlooks the gardens, and the spiral staircase goes down into the bathroom/reading nook area, with an exterior door to the private patio. It was the perfect spot - easy to grab coffee, snacks, and breakfast (all amazing) from the main floor of the inn, but still felt very private. The inn itself is so close to the entrance of the Cliff Walk, and an easy drive to downtown. All of the inn staff were happy and helpful and nice. The food was delicious. The room spotless. We couldn't have asked for anything better!

The location is great. As the name of the property suggests, you are very close to the Cliffside Pathway which fronts the Atlantic Ocean and backs on to many of the grand mansions in Newport. The hotel is a beautiful building and it sets the scene for the “Gilded Age” charm of Newport. The rooms are decorated with a very stylish eclectic modern and period style. It was much to our liking. We loved the gourmet breakfasts, complimentary wine and nibbles in the early evening and the complimentary snacks available in the entry hall. We met some lovely guests at breakfast and in the evening. Our room was big enough and the bathroom was too.

The property is lovely and the guest lounges were a lovely place to relax and chat to other guests. The complimentary wine and snacks were a thoughtful touch. Our room was quirkly decorated and the bathroom was great. The location by the cliff walk is superb. The outside tables were great to relax too.

The room was unbearably hot and we stayed in April. The heating and fire were off, we tried the air con, we left the window open for hours and still it was too hot. It made it very hard to sleep. The breakfast was disappointing. Small portions, no juice, no bread/toast/pastries or cereals. I left hungry.

Overall my stay was very good. The hotel is nicely decorated, comfortable, with a very friendly and helpful staff. Complimentary snacks and beverages were a great touch, and breakfast was fresh and healthy. The 5pm wine and Hors D'oeuvres was very nice.

My only gripe was my room could have been appointed a bit better. The decorative pillows on the bed were a bit worn and frayed, as was the rug, and one of the sinks was clogged. Water ran down very slowly, but the bathroom overall was huge and beautiful.

The garden suite was excellent, it has a private entrance and included 2 fireplaces and a tub! Wonderful accommodations and friendly staff. The breakfast and happy hour were also very fun. We utilized the firepit and the location is convenient enough to everything that we were able walk to the piers and the cliff walk!

the spiral stairwell down to the bathroom has screws under the rail and if your finger gets stuck on one going down it can be painful!

the rooms were gorgeous, clean, spacious. We had breakfast included in our stay and it was delicious and different every morning. There were also hors d'oeuvres served every afternoon with wine for the guests, such a nice touch😊. So many comfy sitting areas around the property. Staff was super friendly. right next to Cliff walk! We will be visiting again one day, thank you!

Very clean. Very friendly and very helpful staff. A lot of nice extras…snacks, beach bag, beach towels, beach chairs and great breakfast available at no extra cost. We highly recommend The Cliffside Inn.

Superb staff and wonderful location. It is perfect for a getaway full of relaxation and peace and quiet. The breakfast is wonderful, and it was so close to Cliff Walk. It is a bit far from Thames but driving there is not difficult, parking may be, however.

The automatic blinds were not working in our room and were making a very strange noise all night. The staff quickly remedy this and provided us with a complimentary bottle of wine for our trouble.
